  1. Sorry, Jack -- Coach Lanning said in one of his team meetings, after the Ohio State victory, that they weren't letting people back on the Oregon boat...
  2. Things would have gotten very interesting in Columbus, if Ohio State lost to Nebraska at home, coming off a loss at Oregon and a bye. LOL.
  3. Maybe the Illinois team was distracted by the natural beauty surrounding the stadium…
  4. Another B1G battle this year that everyone is watching… Oregon Ducks Recruiting 'Dark Horse' to Flip Ohio State Buckeyes Five-Star Commit WWW.SI.COM The Oregon Ducks are reportedly a team to watch when it comes to potentially flipping one of the best...
  5. He probably did…we just couldn’t understand him (sorry, I couldn’t resist).
  6. Oregon’s pre season schedule was favorable this year - two guaranteed victories against Division II schools and one matchup against a good top 25 team at home. Thank goodness we had the first game against Idaho to work out the kinks.
  7. And Bo Nix would probably have won it last year, if he had a good game and beat Washington in the conference championship game.
  8. The B1G wants to allow teams to play physical but they have to call the obvious penalties: holding on the edge, blatant PI where there is holding, pushing off or a tackle before the ball arrives, etc. Oregon got away with some penalties too (e.g., defensive facemark). The defensive targeting could have been called, even though it wasn't intentional. I believe that the fumble wasn't reviewable because the official on the field blew the play dead. Officials have been taught for years to let the play continue and then the replay official can review the play to see if the runner was down. Hopefully Oregon sends these plays into the B1G office and the refs can be trained better because it seems to be happening every single game.
  9. Oregon Ducks = B1G Bully! Love it! Well done.
  10. Scoring Defense: #10 (15.62 points per game) Total Defense: #12 (297.2 yards per game) Team Passing Efficiency Defense: #9 (105.1) Rushing Yards Per Carry Defense: #46 (4.05) 3rd Down Conversion Defense: #27 (33.0%) 4th Down Conversion Defense: #20 (37.5%) Red Zone Defense: #55 (81.8%) - An area for improvement? NCAA College Football FBS current team Stats | NCAA.com WWW.NCAA.COM Discover the current NCAA FBS Football leaders in every stats category, as well as historic leaders. =========================== Look at those national rankings for Oregon's defense: #10 in the country in scoring defense and #12 in total defense! And, as Anthony Newman says, "They are getting better!" with another great performance against a top 20 Illinois team. There are a couple of areas that the defense can improve on: 1. Rushing defense (YPC) -- Going against Jeanty didn't help our stats and this will be tested on Saturday by Michigan 2. Red zone defense 3. Defensive turnovers (it would help if the B1G officials would make the right calls!) We are seeing what many of us hoped to see when Oregon hired Coach Lanning but there is still room for improvement. Hopefully, we can get Burch back soon and the defensive line can wreck havoc on opposing offenses down the stretch. I also enjoyed seeing some of the non-starters contributing late in the game yesterday (e.g., Sione Laulea at 6'4" had a a nice interception and pass breakup) showing Oregon's depth. They say that "defense wins championships" and Oregon has a pretty good one this year.
  11. Man, I hope that Oregon gets to be the first real team that Miami plays this year in the College Football Playoffs!
  12. I was concerned that the Chip Kelly years might have been the high water mark for the program. It's crazy that Coach Lanning has matched and has the chance to surpass what Coach Kelly achieved at Oregon by winning a National Championship. CK brought us to the verge but didn't have the talent, especially on the offensive and defensive lines. Coach Lanning continues to bring in the talent to compete with the Georgia's, Alabama's and Ohio State's. The future is bright in Eugene, Oregon!
  13. In an interview, earlier in the season, Coach Lanning said that he wanted the team peaking around Thanksgiving. Props to the coaches and players because they appear to be on that trajectory. Teams that win a tournament aren't always the best team but they are playing the best at that point in the season (e.g., the 2008 New York Giants won the Super Bowl as a Wild Card). Once you get in the dance, anything can happen...
  14. Seems like more and more college football coaches are falling in love with going for it on 4th and short, regardless of the game situation.
  15. Don’t understand why Vandy went for the 4th down deep in their own territory. Still plenty of time left and their defense has been playing good.
  16. 0 Start Dante Moore in the second half .
  17. Maybe Oregon's backups will get some meaningful playing time in the second half. It would be nice to see Dante Moore being able to run the offense.
  18. Whittingham is having an amazing game. Running over defenders. Great to see him playing so well! (Maybe he read my post about not being 100% since the injury...)
  19. Holy smokes. Running like Jordan James!!!!
  20. I think they thought the runner was down. The B1G refs should have let the play continue and then the replay official can confirm if the knee was down. Need better training.
  21. This game has me wondering how good Ohio State is and, therefore, how impressive Oregon’s victory was a couple of weeks ago. The Buckeyes defense is good (though their CBs are still having issues in coverage) but the offense does not look good.
  22. Former Oregon Duck RB Dante Dowdell scored the go ahead TD for Nebraska.
  23. Some boos in Columbus after the 3rd and short run was stuffed by Nebraska.
