  1. But in any model overall record should be more important than margin of victory, right? They have a two loss team (Ole Miss) ahead of an undefeated team with two victories over current top 15-20 teams (including the #2 overall team)?
  2. Then with 1:25 remaining in the second quarter down 6, from around mid-field, on 3rd and 9, Coach Stein decides to take another deep shot to Tez Johnson, this time?! Of course, DG sits calmly in the pocket and tosses the pass to Tez in stride like he is playing catch in his backyard. Man, these coaches showed some big ones. I have no issues taking deep shots but the situations they decided to take them were B1G (as failure to convert would have killed drives and possible momentum). Ohio State also had all 3 TOs remaining. Kudos for Oregon's coaching staff for playing to win.
  3. Yes, I can. Their model is clearly broken. There is no way that 7 college football teams are better than Oregon, including one they just beat in a head to head matchup! Does anyone else have 2 victories against current top 20 teams this season?
  4. Rewatching the game, the play call to go deep to Evan Stewart was a ballsy call in the situation by OC Will Stein (note: the TV announcer said that he changed the play at the line of scrimmage, so he must of saw something in the coverage). It was 2nd and 12 on Oregon's 23 yard line, and Oregon was down by 8, early in the second quarter. Ohio State seemed to have all of the momentum at that point. If we missed, it would have been 3rd and 12 against one of the best defenses in the country. Kudos to Stein and Lanning for taking the shot and to DG for putting the ball on the money to an open E Stew. Great play! Then Coach Lanning decides to play dodgeball off the Ohio State up man on the pursuing kickoff. Think they were taking some shots and playing to win?!
  5. There were also two defensive pass interference penalties that were not called against Ohio State in the first quarter. One against T. Ferg. and the other against E. Stew. The second one against Evan Stewart with 0:54 remaining in the first quarter was blatant and right in the middle of the field. The Ohio State defender (#1) was grabbing, holding and all over Evan Stewart (#7) the entire play from his break to the attempted catch. As they were watching the replay, the TV announcer said: "It looks like a lot of grabbing and holding there." I know that the officials want to let the players play and I don't expect every call to be made but, come on, they get paid to make the obvious/blatant calls and, under no rules, can a defender grab, hold and tackle an offensive player before the ball arrives. The result of the two series: a punt and missed FG.
  6. Example of Autzen's impact: 2 false start penalties and a delay of game (-15 total yards in penalties) on Ohio State's possession at the end of the first quarter, up one point
  7. I respect that you tried your best, as an official, and I'm sure you made some incorrect calls in games but those likely tended to balance out during the course of a game/match so that neither team benefited. What I saw on Saturday was different, as the calls were tilted in Ohio State's favor (the traditional B1G power that wields more influence in the conference than any other program). Why didn't the replay officials stop play to review the first quarter potential interception (note: the TV rules expert thought that it was an interception) but they stopped play later in the game to review whether Oregon's receiver stepped out of bounds when Oregon was trying to go up-tempo? Did you see the end of the last few Miami games? You can't tell me that that was honest officiating. The problem is that the officials are paid for by the conferences and they know who are writing the biggest checks. Again, a solution for this would be to go to national collegiate officiating, so that the officials are hired, trained, evaluated and paid by the NCAA (the conferences/schools would then pay the NCAA a fee). Thanks to Charles, we can respectfully disagree on this forum.
  8. There may be better QBs in college football but there are no QBs who are more battle tested and proven, under pressure, than DG. He is a big game QB and plays better when the pressure is on. There is no one that I would trust more with the game on the line and the ball in his hands. 2023: Texas 2024: Ohio State 2024: Next???
  9. Coach Day also claimed that defensive PI should have been called on Oregon CBs the last few passes of the game, including on the Oregon DB on that play, during his post-game press conference. Unbelievable. I guess the players take their cues from the HC. "Well, we did a great job again down the field and continued to fight. But on the one play, their DB's grabbing on Jeremiah, Jeremiah's fighting there and they called the flag there and that cost us...And then the next play on the wheel to Emeka (Egbuka), there was contact there. But again, we're not going to go back and look at those things. It doesn't matter at this point." -- Coach Ryan Day, Post Oregon Game Press Conference
  10. Love the clips with all the doubters being proven wrong…
  11. Oregon’s offense was trying to go uptempo. Ohio State’s defense needed a free time out. The replay officials obliged, even though E Stew wasn’t even close to stepping out of bounds.
  12. These are mostly 18-22 year olds coming off the biggest win of their lives and getting pats on the back from everyone. I hope that Coach Lanning and staff can keep them focused and motivated but it can’t be easy.
  13. Luckily, for Oregon, I believe that DG would rather win a national championship than the Heisman.
  14. No need to apologize. If it were Ohio State kicking then the B1G refs would have enforced the penalty from the end of the run…
  15. I wonder if Coach Stein will keep the playbook open, now that the Ohio State game is behind us. One of DG's biggest strengths is pushing the ball downfield. Allow him to throw the ball all over the field to E Stew, Tez, T Ferg, et al!
  16. Good article. One thing that it didn't mention is that Oregon finally has the talent across the entire roster, specifically in the trenches, to compete with any team in the country and they proved it last night against "the most talented roster in the history of college football." The coaches have done a tremendous job on the recruiting trail (getting another 4 star DT from SoCal to commit today) and are coming into their own as game day coaches. The sky's the limit for Oregon Football with Coach Lanning at the helm. GO DUCKS!!!!
  17. Breaking: Video footage of B1G Conference replay official in 1st quarter of Ohio State vs. Oregon game uncovered...
  18. LOL. Does one such coach reside in the Los Angeles area and last name rhymes with "wiley", by chance?
  19. 247 Sports has Topui listed at 6'3" and 320 lbs! That's one B1G "kid"!!!
  20. Love keeping the big guys out West and away from USC! The Mater Dei to Eugene pipeline continues. SCO Ducks!!!
  21. While Purdue is not a good football team, it's a classic trap game with Oregon coming off an emotional victory and having to travel to play a team on a short week. I hope Coach Lanning can get the team's focus to handle business and play to Oregon's standard (Oregon vs. Oregon). Coach Saban said that he was harder on his team after a win than a loss. I'm sure that Coach Lanning learnt a lot from Saban and Smart on how to handle these situations.
  22. Round 2? (of many, hopefully...) Unfortunately, Bo won the first meeting, while he was at Auburn.
  23. ON3: Oregon Recruits React to THRILLING Win over Ohio State!! | Latest on Jahkeem Stewart, Na'eem Offord
  24. It's not just fans. Even Coach Day was blaming the officials on their calls on the last drive, during his post-game press conference. What?!!! You believe that a wide receiver can push off a DB, nearly sending him to the ground, to create separation???? Maybe OSU feels that they are entitled to every call with B1G refs. Perhaps that is why they have beaten every team in the B1G during Day's tenure, except Michigan? Oregon said "not so fast, my friend" by overcoming special team mistakes and bad officiating to win the game last night!
