Where Derrick Harmon, Peyton Woodyard stands among the top-rated transfers in Dan Lanning era

The spring transfer portal window has now closed in the world of college football, and with another year of portalling under his belt, it’s beyond clear that Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning is among the most proficient utilizes of the transfer portal in the nation at the moment

So where do Harmon and Woodyard rank among the 34 (non-specialist) Oregon transfers in the Lanning era? There are two ways to look at it. For starters, you can take into account the 247Sports transfer portal rankings. However, those rankings don’t always match what we see play out on the field. For instance, Bo Nix was a three-star prospect in the portal, but he finished his college career as a Heisman Trophy finalist in New York.

Let’s take a look at the 25 best transfers that the Ducks have landed since Lanning has been here, and see where the newest additions land:

Great info, thanks.  Those comments seem to be consistent with part of the scouting profile that Greg Biggins wrote for Woodyard. Here is part of what he wrote...

"He’s a not a freaky athlete and will need to continue to improve his overall quickness and athleticism but his smarts and ability to play in all situations should allow him to see the field early in college."

I posted this video on Ducks podcast.  Good information on Woodyard.  They also show video play of woodyard in action.   He was thought after by both Georgia and Alabama.

We knew that the Oregon Ducks were unlikely to do a whole lot in the transfer portal this spring unless it resulted in bringing in players who have a chance to contribute immediately and bolster the talent of the roster.

It appears that Dan Lanning found the guys he was looking for.

With the additions of Derrick Harmon and Peyton Woodyard, the Ducks’ 2024 transfer class is quickly climbing.

USC's only hope was to keep Oregon out of the Big 10.  Since that didn't happen, 😱 their misery continues with tears of anguish. 😭

For USC, Oregon is like that Willie Nelson song "Always on My Mind".  Will just take the lyric part:

Oregon, is always on my mind
Oregon, is always on my mind
Oregon, is always on my mind

Oregon Transfer Portal Tracker: Ducks finish spring football by landing Peyton Woodyard and Derrick Harmon

Oregon adds two big-time transfer portal commitments from Peyton Woodyard and Derrick Harmon in the portal.

"We have people in our organization that always keep their eyes open for what opportunities might be out there to enhance our program, but that's certainly not my focus right now. And certainly not our coach's focus right now. We're completely focused on what's ahead of us this season to prepare our players to play as well as we can this season. Not really focused on next season," said Oregon head coach Dan Lanning before the Pac-12 Championship.

"It's the same thing I've asked our players to do. There's some guys on our team probably when the portal opens, will look to other opportunities that could exist. That's just the reality of college football, but I've asked them to put that on the back burner right now and focus on their team. So we have a bunch of guys committed right now that are working extremely hard out there on the practice field."
