  1. If UCLA actually stays in the Pac-12 I would expand. Invite SDSU, BYU, Houston, before Houston and BYU gets tied up with Big 12. Go after Big 12 schools. Invite TCU, TT, OSU, Baylor. If we want to go to 20 schools grab Kansas (basketball) or UNLV or FSU. Or whatever combination works best. Again, If UCLA stays, you will retain the LA market as well as the Bay Area, Seattle, Portland (Oregon's growing national brand), Phoenix, Denver, Salt Lake markets. You are pulling in San Diego, Houston and Dallas/Ft. Worth TV markets with Baylor right in the heart between Dallas and Houston. Waco is growing. The conference spans across the Pacific, Mountain, Central time zones. Geographically speaking it could still work. Between ESPN, Fox and big streaming medias might muster financial windfall for the schools, make the conference strong enough to gain a place in the playoffs. Again, we'd need as many big TV markets we can grab in these times zones to hopefully muster enough clout. It would bring in around 30 million TV homes. Again, who knows if it would work or be good enough.
  2. Canzano: "Sports world is shifting. Loyalty, tradition and geography don't seem to matter in a new world of revenue and monopolizing the playoff. He wonders what happens to fan interest if large swaths of the Pacific and Mountain Time Zones are shut out of the sport." Canzano: Meaningless football game? Is there such a thing? 3. I like what Canzano said about a lot of noise out there about the Pac-12 and realignment. "Just spitballing and trying to stay relevant." 4. I personally would rather have brought one of our young QBs up to be the starter. They have patiently been waiting. I do blame the last regime on not being equip to handle and develop young QBs. So Bo Nix stats for 3 seasons at Auburn overall: 628 CMP out of 1,057 ATT: CMP% AVG 59.5% Total YDS: 7,251, AVG 6.9 Total TDs: 39 Total INT: 16 He has a gunslinger mentality, but is a dual threat QB that can make things happen with his legs and arm. Important in a KD offense, especially if he had to improvise to make things happen out of a broken play, etc. Marcus was very good with this to make a play successful. Maybe with good protection from our experience front line will give him more time to be more calculated in his passing game. Sorry if this might have been already posted. I thought this Bio profile and scouting report was helpful. 5. This is a great write-up about our whole strength and conditioning coaches. Speed is important. What I like is no cookie cutter program. This whole team of coaches builds individual strength and speed workouts for each player based upon the assessments for each individual. Each coach specializes in a particular group and their individuals in that group, zeroing in on their particular needs. 6. Thank you so much for this article. Having great analyzes about our team and coaches brings a healthy perspective entering into the season.
  7. "it's in the Pac-12's best interest to go slow, allow Big Ten to set the market, and give some other bidders a chance to weigh in." Canzano: There is a singular threat to Pac-12 now -- the Big Ten WWW.JOHNCANZANO.COM Pac-12 AD calls Big 12 threat "laughable."
  8. This article is about a good human interest story on perseverance. She loved sports. "Dolores explained that sports contained an abundance of perseverance. There are daily examples of resilience and mettle on display. The quickest way out of a mess, she insisted, was to lean into your faith, and get straight through it. Sports exemplified that." We can all use a good story on the above mentioned to encourage us, especially with all that's going on around us. Canzano: A final lesson in perseverance from Sister D WWW.JOHNCANZANO.COM "Keep telling the stories people need to hear."
  9. Instead of BSU I would invite BYU. They are good in athletics and ranked #21 in academics amongst colleges. They have a great fan base as well as a big rival with Utah. Or keep both and invite either Cincinnati, UCF or WV. These 3 schools might be too far geographically to work. But who knows. The issue with this, would it draw enough finances for each school to be worth it? I hate what is happening to College sports. Which is the better way for Oregon? Go to the Big 10 if invited or stay and form a super conference with other schools? Both ways has issues to consider. If Oregon has a choice they would go to the Big 10. it's where the money is as well as getting to the playoffs or to a New Year 6 bowl.
  10. If you go down to about the last 3/4 of the article, he is going to interview with Yogi Roth live on his podcast today. But what I think would be interesting, John is forming a new alliance with Jon Wilner. They've signed on with Alpha Media, creating a podcast called "Canzano & Wilner." It seems you might have to subscribe. Canzano: College football waits for the trickle down of TV money WWW.JOHNCANZANO.COM FCS funds programs with payday games
  11. There are so many analysts making contradicting predictions in conference realignments makes your head spin. None of them, I am sure, knows anything. This one for example which was mentioned before at least makes sense. Conference Talk: Are We Finally Starting to Make Sense? - On3 WWW.ON3.COM Everyone discussing it. Everyone has a source. Everyone knows what’s going to happen with conference realignment. Except they don’t. I finally am starting to see news hit on Twitter that actually...
  12. I could be wrong, but I believe because this is the Chick-fil-A kickoff game labeled neutral site, referees are suppose to be neutral as well. Most likely from either the ACC or Big 12 conference. Or possibly the refs in the game could be either SEC or Pac-12 refs and the instant replay ref would be the opposite.
  13. GK left the door ajar just in case UCLA has second thoughts because of political pressures. But it really is political posturing by the governor and the UC regents. Doubt any of this posturing will deter UCLA from going to the Big 10. Canzano: UCLA gone? Yup, but Pac-12 leaves door ajar anyway WWW.JOHNCANZANO.COM Conference making contingency plans.
  14. I agree with those expressing their delight with such a high class site that is the FishDuck Oregon Sports Community with all that it has to offer! I also give this site a 5 star rating! Thankful for all the existing writers, new writers and others that make this site contagious to join! You will never be disappointed! Go Ducks, Fly High!!
  15. I agree! Don't want a long contract. Oregon needs to wait and hold out from signing a contractual agreement as long as possible. If Oregon runs out of time and have to sign, they need to have concessions in the contract that would be beneficial enough for them.
  16. Nice listening to one on one interviews with coaches, commissioner and a few athletes. Canzano: Come with me for a 1-on-1 with the Pac-12 WWW.JOHNCANZANO.COM 15 interviews in one place...
  17. Once you go down to the questions and answers section there are some interesting thoughts from Canzano. Maybe ESPN tries flipping UCLA back to the Pac-12 with some incentives? A new media deal would be most likely 4-5 years. Canzano: Mailbag deals with betrayal, potential UCLA flip-flop, and sneaker waves WWW.JOHNCANZANO.COM Your questions, my answers...
  18. I agree with the article. Oregon needs to wait it out as long as possible, not locking into any contract at this time with the Pac-12. I can be wrong, but I doubt the Big 10 will want Oregon, Washington and Stanford to be locked into a new 5-6 year contract with the Pac-12. Can the Pac-12 actually get a good contract with competing distribution $$$'s? It doesn't seem they can. I hate seeing this happening to the Pac-12, but Oregon can't afford to be on the outside looking in.

  21. Oregon will need to make sure they 'EAT CROW' by end of season when we hoist the Pac-12 championship trophy. Go Ducks, Fly High!
  22. Canzano: Pac-12 in a dance with ESPN and knows who else might bid WWW.JOHNCANZANO.COM Three things I know...
  23. The first part of the article talks about OSU's walk-on Jaydon Grant, might be the best story in the Pac-12. Other half of article, some thoughts on the Pac-12. It seems the two universities most talked about is SDSU and UNLV. If the Pac-12 wanted to bring in two schools within the Pac-12 footprint, the two mentioned seem to be the best choices available. These are two universities with the most uptick, future wise, for the conference. My opinion, even though BYU (within the Pac-12 footprint and Utah's arch rival) is heading to the Big 12, it's not too late for the Pac-12 to change their minds. But, who knows at this moment what the future holds for the individual universities and conference as a whole. Canzano: A walk-on story worth celebrating WWW.JOHNCANZANO.COM Plus... Pac-12 insiders irked with Kevin Warren's comments.
  24. I’m really hoping he chooses Oregon. We need some good news!
