Fall Camp: Day 2 Practice
Dan Lanning shares how he utilizes SWOT analysis to improve Article written by:Grant Grubbs grant_grubbs_ College football isn’t necessarily a business, but Dan Lanning runs his team like one. On Wednesday, the Oregon head coach discussed how his staff uses a SWOT analysis to evaluate the team. “It’s really just going through your strengths, weaknesses, right? What are the obstacles in front of you? And what are those threats?” Lanning told the press. “That was really an offseason study. But I would you could argue that we do a SWOT analysis every day after practice, too. So we’re going to go in here and watch this last practice, figure out what we did well [and] figure out what we didn’t do well enough.” A SWOT analysis is a strategy often utilized in the business world. SWOT stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. During fall camp, the Ducks are figuring out where they stand in each of these categories. With 65% of the team’s production returning, Lanning and Co. already know the answer to some of these questions. For example, the Ducks showed weakness as the season progressed last year, losing two of their final four contests. For that reason, Oregon is using the SWOT analysis to not only set up short-term goals, but long-term goals too. “You’ve got goals that last for an entire season. You’ve got a goal for today. What am I going to improve on today, right? I think you just have to be really open and honest about what those look like. But yeah, you have long-term goals. You have short-term goals, and you have to be able to assess and change them,” Lanning said. The Ducks undoubtedly share one goal with every team in the country: reach the College Football Playoff. In 2022, Oregon was in the hunt for a CFP spot until QB Bo Nix suffered an ankle injury late in a November matchup with Washington. Consequently, the Ducks lost the lead, the game, and any hope of a spot in the CFP. Regarding the short-term, Lanning has a specific challenge for his team. “I want to see us play fast. I saw that in moments, and then I saw moments that it wasn’t as good, so it’s something we can continue to improve on,” Lanning said.

Canzano: Conference Demise Hinges on Oregon
Pac-12 insider details the 'glue' holding the conference together as reported Big Ten offer is weighed During a segment with syndicated radio host Dan Patrick, Canzano explained that any time Board of Regents meet that there is buzz around the league. And that’s happening on Thursday night in Arizona and Washington. That is the case even though Canzano told Patrick that a member of the Pac-12 CEO group told him that there is enthusiasm internally. Canzano said while the media rights deal presented earlier his week was initially underwhelming, however, there is an added layer to it, and he’s unsure if a new partner came into the picture. “Oregon is expected to get a reduced share invitation to the Big Ten Conference, could come as soon as this morning, mid-day today,” he said. “We know the Big Ten is open to that conversation internally and there’s a lot of eyes on Oregon. Oregon appears to be the glue right now in the conference, because the Arizona schools are saying that if Oregon stays, if Oregon chooses to stay in the Pac-12, there might be something there for the Arizona schools.” Pac-12 insider details the ‘glue’ holding the conference together as reported Big Ten offer is weighed SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM Board of Regents meetings create buzz on the West Coast, he said.

Big Ten To Add Four Pac-12 Schools?
Seems dubious to me. Sounds more like it's coming from a USC fan signed onto this board, causing trouble. This drips with disdain towards Oregon too much to be a BIG fan.

Big Ten To Add Four Pac-12 Schools?
From Jon Wilner: Pac-12 survival: Are Oregon, UW, Stanford and Cal worth the investment for the Big Ten? Let’s say the Northwest powers agreed to a laddered revenue structure like this over the Big Ten’s contract: Years 1-2: quarter share Years 3-4: half share Years 5-6: three-quarters share Year 7: full share That’s two years at $16.5 million, two more at $32.5 million, two more at $48.75 million and one year at $65 million, for a total of $260.5 million. Multiply that times two schools, and a media company would need to shell out $521 million to make the math work for the Huskies and Ducks to enter the Big Ten at reduced revenue shares for the entirety of the seven-year contract cycle. (Please note: Our numbers are estimates. The Big Ten’s contract includes an escalator clause, meaning the payments start well below the estimated average of $65 million average amount and end well above.) 2025 Recruitment, Announcements, Interviews, Etc.
5-star CB Devin Sanchez puts Oregon among top schools Recruiting in the defensive backfield has gone through the roof since Dan Lanning — and more importantly, Demetrice Martin — got to Eugene over a year ago. Since then, the Oregon Ducks have been snatching up elite cornerbacks and safeties like it’s their job. Going into the 2025 recruiting cycle, the Ducks look to be in a good position to try and land one of the most elite defensive playmakers in the nation, with 5-star CB Devin Sanchez announcing his top 10 schools and keeping Oregon in the mix. Arizona Board of Regents Meeting 8/3/23
I guess will see if this comes out to be true. After what we know of the new media deal, I'm sure this will be true. As much as we were hopeful the the Pac-12 would have been able to put together a great deal, but sadly they didn't. Hopefully an offer can't come soon enough for Oregon to leave for the Big Ten. ASU appears closer than ever to leaving the Pac-12 and joining the Big XII The Pac-12's meeting of its remaining nine university leaders that took place on Tuesday, August 1st, presented the proposed media deal for the conference. The low financial expectations of that agreement were sadly confirmed at that time, the same expectations that forced the University of Colorado's decision last week to leave for the Big 12 conference. Any voices who claimed that action in Boulder to be one of haste have undoubtedly been muted this week and for a good reason. As we learned throughout Wednesday from individuals with knowledge of the situation, three of the Buffs' old Pac-12 South foes are poised to follow suit and are planning, as of July of 2024 to make the Big 12 their destination as well. Arizona State, the University of Arizona, and the University of Utah are resolute in their decision to leave the Pac-12, and the Big 12 is expected to vote on those school additions in the next 48 hours. Fall Camp: Day 1 Practice
Why Oregon football is practicing during the hottest part of the day Part of that process is holding practices late in the afternoon — typically the hottest time of the day — instead in the morning as the case was last season. “I like having the ability to have meetings and walk-throughs in the morning with an install fresh on your mind before you go into afternoon where you’re on the field,” Lanning said. “I think having the heat up is good for us early in the season when we can train in harder environments. … Later on when we get into our class schedule we’ll transition back to morning.” Day one of year two in the Dan Lanning-era began Wednesday under a hot afternoon sun and temperatures reaching 90 degrees. Canzano: TV Picking Apart College Football
Oregon, Washington, Stanford and Cal on block next? I get it. Television is a business. Media companies have profits to turn and money to make. But in the end, I’m left wondering if TV cares about the wreckage the industry is causing in pursuit of it. The Pac-12 is in trouble. The conference has made some strategic errors, blown the messaging and overplayed its hand. But it still has a line of wonderful schools, excellent brands, good media markets and talented college football teams. So why is TV reluctant to buy it? Interesting? According to Canzano: "On Wednesday, the Big Ten Conference presidents reportedly opened preliminary talks to explore additional expansion. They may decide to add Oregon, Washington, Stanford and Cal. It’s early there. They’re just exploring. But it’s a full-on chess game now, being played by a merry band of pirates." But at what cost? Some major truth to what he is saying. We all thought it and spoke of it. I felt what he expressed was in all of our hearts as fans. I'm glad he used the word "Icky" in his piece. Because that's how I feel about it all. Canzano: TV picking apart college football WWW.JOHNCANZANO.COM Oregon, Washington, Stanford and Cal on block next?

USC Fans Furious/Obsessed With Oregon
The spoiled brats South of us are wallowing in their own self worth. USC and UCLA wouldn't make it on their own laurels except for happen chance being in the LA market. Otherwise Big Ten and Fox wouldn't give a hoot who they are. Both schools haven't been prominent, carry their weight in this conference for years! Oregon and their donors pushed the envelope, never settling for mediocrity, finding ways to be better, to become a household name amongst recruits across the college landscape. Oregon's motto should always be from the movie 'Field of Dreams'..."If You Build It He Will Come" Just a slight change in the saying, for Oregon, "If You Build It They Will Come." That's what's happening at Oregon, now a National Brand, offering the total package for a student athlete in sports and academics. Maybe that is what they hate the most, Oregon has grown out from under them. Have our own identity outside of USC's banner, a threat to their existence. This is what drew Dan Lanning to Oregon and why he chooses to stay for a long time. He believes in Oregon and what they're achieving. He believes Oregon can bring home a national championship. Yes, I've grown weary of the brats down under. May we always be a thorn in their side for years to come in recruiting and on the field this year and beyond! Go Ducks, Fly High!!.
