  10. Oregon Football kicked off the 2025 season with a dominant 59-13 win over the Montana State Bobcats this weekend. Quarterback Dante Moore shined in his Duck debut, completing 18-of-23 passes for 213 yards and three touchdowns. He showed great poise, took what the defense gave him and distributed the ball effectively. Everybody pitched in from the Oregon backfield, but no one scored more than true freshman running back Jordon Davison, who found the end zone three times in his first taste of college action. The Oregon defense held strong against one of the top rushing attacks in college football last year, limiting the Bobcats to just 46 rushing yards and 244 total yards of offense. Matayo Uiagalelei may have had the best individual performance, bringing down quarterback Justin Lamson twice as he defends his crown as the Big Ten sack leader. A’Mauri Washington was a force on the interior of Tony Tuioti‘s defensive line and should be a key leader for Tosh Lupoi‘s defense in 2025. ScoopDuck’s Max Torres and Justin Hopkins sit down to give their thoughts on Oregon’s week 1 win and what we learned about this year’s version of the Ducks. 13. Agree with the consensus in this thread. ESPN FPI deserves to be flushed down the toilet! This article speaks of it. Ducks snubbed in the most drunk, inaccurate, useless ESPN FPI ranking everThere are lies, damn lies, and statistics. British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli never saw a football game, but he apparently knew more about it than ESPN, which updated its Football Performance Index after Week One in college football, only to come up with the most preposterous ranking ever. The update was issued before AP No. 10 Miami's 27-24 win over No. 6 Notre Dame. FPI purports to be "The Football Power Index (FPI) is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team's performance going forward for the rest of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is." It ranks all 136 teams based on 20,000 simulations, but something about their data or calculations is haywire. ESPN’s FPI has been updated following Saturday of Week 1. No one can take this seriously ever again pic.twitter.com/IVzsX7meNk Autzen ZooDucks snubbed in the most drunk, inaccurate, useless ESPN...There are lies, damn lies, and statistics.

Preparation and Execution Set a New Tone Two Questions1. How Predictive Is This Blowout? 2. Can Oregon’s Secondary Handle More Sophisticated Passing Attacks? One PredictionIf Oregon replicates Saturday’s discipline (3 penalties), balance (253 passing, 253 rushing), and defensive control (1.7 YPC allowed), the Ducks will beat Oklahoma State comfortably — especially with the Cowboys starting backup quarterback Zane Flores. But don’t expect the same kind of physical mismatch we saw against Montana State. This game will reveal more about Oregon’s ceiling than the opener did, particularly along the defensive front and in the secondary. 17. The Oregon Ducks are finally back, and after their dismantling of the Montana State Bobcats, it looks like they’re out for vengeance. The Duckssuffered a crushing defeat in the Rose Bowl last season, but it’s clear Dan Lanning wanted to send a message to the nation that his team isn’t going anywhere. True freshman running back Jordon Davison carried the offensive heavy lifting in the red zone today, scoring all three of his touchdowns inside the 10-yard line. He didn’t get the ball much today, but when he did, he made the most of his opportunities by bulldozing defenders and willing his way into the end zone.
