  1. One thing I have remind myself is that Shelstad is doing this about two years before Peyton Pritchard became Peyton Pritchard. Pritchard was not nearly this far along as a sophomore. EDIT: Actually taking a look at Pritchard's game log he had a better sophomore season than I remember, his junior year was worse than his sophomore year, I'm probably more thinking about that year. Averaged 14 a game, Shot 48% overall 41% from 3, averaged more assists than Shelstad as well. That team only went to the NIT, so I'm probably just being biased due to this team being much much better than that team.
  2. He is really really good, he's averaging 14 and 8 assists. That's why this game was a bit disappointing to see them allow Penn St. to make it a game, you need to step on their necks and put them away for good, we let teams off the hook by missing wide open shots, and slowing down the intensity.
  3. Honestly, I just thought it was the flow of the game. Underdog team, playing at home, big comeback, playing without their best player, just kind of set it up to be more excited about the prospect of an upset. I am now confused on that last inbounds, I thought you didn't lose the right to run the baseline after a timeout. I tried to look it up online but the best I got was that you can run the baseline after a timeout, but it doesn't say if you lose this ability after calling a second timeout. Just frustrating how we seem to not make anything easy on ourselves, we always seem to play to the level of our opponents, if we hit some of our open threes we win comfortably, but Bamba and Angel have been awful shooting the ball recently. Bamba just looks completely lost unless he's going to the hole.
  4. Stopped playing hard, haven't been very physical, no urgency on offense, been really really poor this half. Free throw shooting has been awful.
  5. Bamba with two WIIIIDDEEEEE open looks from 3, both clanks, and PSU ties it up. His shot is completely broken now.
  6. Looking good so far, Bamba playing better, Shelstad staying red hot, good stuff. We got pretty lucky with PSU's best player not playing. Baldwin is a very very good player, everything goes through him.
  7. It's just something the teams are going to need to get used to, nothing anyone can do about it, first couple seasons are going to hurt before programs get used to it. Could get better later in the season when they've gone cross country a couple times or it could get worse as they get more tired, we'll see how it goes. I suspect the teams that are doing well in the season are going to be relatively unaffected by it, but those teams that are struggling might go further in a hole as they begin to see the end of the season coming.
  8. If the people that make the decisions on Matt Court operations were smart they would get rid of the DJ, have the band play during every timeout, no kiss cam, no any kind of the shanigans with the camera, cheerleaders on the court or maybe some sort of student led competition. Basically treat it like the focus is on the game, not getting on the jumbotron. It's stupid how they have lost fans yet the prices go up. Attendance is probably at an all time low and they probably don't give a you know what because they think we all want a NBA experience which NOBODY WANTS!!! Students are probably the worst they have been ever as well.
  9. We did try to get the ball into Bittle last game early, they were doubling him up immediately and he did a good job dumping it off to other guys. The problem was that those players were missing wide open looks. We have to start shooting better as a team. We'll have a player or two have a hot hand, but we rarely see a majority of the team have a good shooting night. Angel and Bamba have to start playing better. Evans is getting close to taking over Angel's minutes, I'm personally surprised to see this happen, but Evans is rebounding, defending, and scoring enough to justify it. If he could just get a better handle he would really take a step forward as a prospect. He just has such a bad handle for someone you would expect to be more smooth.
  10. I am 100 percent ready to hand the keys to Moore over bringing in any transfer that is out there. If Moore isn't the starter then it just means someone really really impressive overtook him which I would be fine with as well.
  11. Yeah, they pretty much destroyed the allure of going to games when the made the horrible, horrible decision to present the game like it's an NBA game in the arena. They lost a ton of fans who would go to games over the last 15 years, plus the prices are way too high.
  12. Yeah, not many have his skill set, it's the way that he can also dominate on the block that makes him really unique, you see plenty of stretch 4-5s but not many who can be equally effective inside and out. He's also a very good rebounder, developed into a good interior defender, just a great player who I think is more a fit for Europe than the NBA, he will have to become a 40%+ 3 point shooter to make it in the league, I think since he isn't versatile enough to defend NBA wings.
  13. Maaannnn we just can't make it easy, we're always having to come back, luckily we play really well during crunch time. All win on the road are great wins, move on to Penn St. take the defensive performance as progress, and try to get some other guys going on offense.
  14. Have to start hitting shots, it has to happen at some point, too many bunnies and open threes where we just hit iron.
  15. Today's game is going to be a real indication of where this season might go, on the road, decent team but not a juggernaut, new environment. We've already played 3 home league game and lost 2 of them, we'll have to make it up on the road a bit. Unfortunately I just don't think any of them are really wired to primarily be a distributer. I think they are all attack minded, get to the hole and finish or shoot a dagger in your eye. I really believe in Bamba, he has the history to say he's a good shooter, his form is good, and I think he's a load to take inside.
  16. The Illinois lose was deeply concerning, blowouts happen, but it should not happen like that at home. I will admit that made me reconsider the ceiling for this team. I think Illinois is really, really good with a first round talent in Jakubanis. The shooting woes are also still concerning, Shelstad might be coming out of it, but we need to get consistency from him and Bamba or we won't hit our potential. All these road trips are going to be tough, there simply aren't going to be any gimmies in this league, and we've already lost two at home, can't afford many more. Still think we have a lot of potential, still believe this is the most balanced deep team we've had in a long time, but some guys are going to need to start hitting shots.
  17. Saw that coming with James the moment Hughes committed, I don't think he would have come if we had all our guys coming back next season. Honestly Harmon will hurt more than James, good back but not a game changer. Harmon will be very tough to replace, we do have a lot of high prospects in that position, but I'm not sure if we'll be able to get the same level of production.
  18. He's also moving to Tight End, probably the right move considering how it was going as a QB.
  19. I'll be honest I probably enjoy the ride with basketball, baseball, or other sports in general since I don't really have expectations with them, we don't get the constant hype, or the feeling like its championship or bust, do I get bummed out when they lose....of course, but it's not like I expected to win it all. I honestly think I enjoy these other sports more than football because of this.
  20. Wow, coaching staff should be embarrassed by this game, we look completely confused on basically every play, our offense is so obvious, we have to throw the ball down the field, but we refused to even attempt other than one pass. We deserve to get blown out. Probably the worst display of football by supposedly the #1 team in a bowl game ever.
  21. You can tell Altman thinks this team could be pretty special, we just beat a decent 9-2 Stanford team on the road while shooting only 6-22 from 3. Going to be a really telling stretch when at the start of the new year, Illinois, Maryland, and an Ohio St. team that just demolished Kentucky. Hopefully the football team wins and the fans come back fired up for the two games at home.
  22. It really is too early for Oregon to have gained a reputation, but I think it's dangerous to start to become the team that is known to never develop QB talent. It'll become difficult over time if high school QBs know you won't have an actual opportunity to win the job due to the team always bringing other QBs in on big NIL deals. I'm not saying you don't bring in portal QBs, but you have to give these other guys a chance. Personally I don't think there is a QB out there right now that I would say we should give a bunch of money to instead of allowing Moore or Novastad the chance to stake their claim. Just depends on the market and the QBs you have in the program. Sometimes it will make sense, other times it won't. Pretty much exactly like the NFL, you adjust to the market and what you already have on the roster.
  23. I think the B1G will go 1-2, Penn St. will get the W. Have a feeling Tennessee might take a lead early and the crowd will turn on the team, Day will falter in the face of adversity, and finally I don't know if Howard has it in him to come back against a really good Tennessee front line. Indiana will be more competitive than the first time they played a team with a heartbeat, but they won't have enough against I hate to admit it...a pretty good ND team. I actually think Notre Dame is pretty dang good and could make it to the final. SMU will be competitive, but I have a feeling Penn St. will take a lot of positive vibes from the title game. I'm sure it was disappointment for those players, but the offense really came through, and that has been the thing holding them back. Too much talent and at home. I'm also calling my shot saying Clemson will beat Texas. They have nothing to lose, and I see them playing really loose. I think Sark will stick with Ewers and it will end in tears for them.
  24. I'm a bit different, I want Clemson to win, but I don't think I want to face tOSU, part of it is simply not wanting to engage with their fans once again, we've met enough in the post season, yes it would be nice to get revenge, but I want something new. Georgia I hope loses (sorry to our dawg fans here, still love you guys!), it would be nice to see the SEC get told that they aren't the best conference, that they were overrated, and it's a new day. I also don't want to see college football become a two league sport, I don't think it's good for the sport if the ACC and B12 become irrelevant, only way for this to happen is for them to prove it on the field with some upsets. In general I want great games, I want SMU, Clemson, Boise St, and Indiana to show that they deserved to be in the playoff, it will only help college football if these teams show that you have to respect teams such as them. If they get blown out then it will prove that teams like Bama should get in even if they are undeserving because of the brand and the conference they play in. I'm sure this might help Oregon at some point, but that doesn't mean it will be healthy for the sport.
