  1. The game that makes me think about the challenges of moving to the B10 isn't actually Ohio St. or Michigan, it's Wisconsin. I can see Oregon beating either of those teams, getting up for those types of games, it's the game against a good Wisconsin squad, in Madison, late in the season, just before we play UW that makes me worried about the rigors of the B10 schedule that we now have. Are we going to be able to meet the challenge of going across the country for a third time, in bitter cold weather and pull out a victory against a program that will probably be chomping at the bit to beat us in our first matchup after the game in the Rose Bowl. I think we will, but those are the types of games that will be an extra challenge for us going forward I think.
  2. Personally I think the QB that has the best chance to be a bust is McCarthy, I really don't understand the hype around him, doesn't have an arm as good as others, played behind an O-line that was dominant, wasn't asked to do much other than not screw up, decent mobility, but not incredible. I would have him behind Williams, Daniels, Maye, Penix, and Nix. I do think you draft Williams because he has the biggest chance to be the next Maholmes, incredible ability to make plays out of nothing, can also read the field and go through progressions, showed that he could carry a team on his back.
  3. Good move for everyone involved. Things have been getting stale in Lexington over the last few years, Cal probably needed something new, Arkansas was struggling to bring in a big name, they whiffed on some others. Really like this for everyone.
  4. Ticonderoga is a brand of pencil that is widely used. There are few themed bats out there right now, it's becoming a thing. I think I've seen some that are shaped like the firecracker popsicle
  5. You could say it was innovative at the time I guess, but now a lot of courts are out there that are similar in their design, you are also right it isn't as bad in person, it's still ugly when compared to other courts that are either minimalist or a bit jazzy.
  6. You see this right here is what should not be allowed to happen, you made a choice now stick to it, in the NFL you can't sign on the dotted line during free agency and then call backsies after making the move.
  7. The stuff about the ACC keeping the media rights even after the exit fee is ridiculous, but the buy out amount is fine, everyone agreed to it, it was stupid by the presidents in the ACC to agree to such a long media deal in the first place, you can't agree to something and then call unfair now that the market has shifted. I would hate to see the league suffer the same fate as the Pac-12, in a lot of ways we mirror each other, states on the coast, a collection of schools that have very good to great academic reputations, great history in basketball, good history in football but not dominate. It has probably had more transition over the years compared to the Pac, but it would be a shame to see it destroyed by greed. At the same time Clemson and FSU probably don't see much other choice in the way that things are now progressing, it's damn shame.
  8. Everyone agrees about the court! GET RID OF THAT ABOMINATION! I don't care if it was designed by Tinker Hatfield, it's ugly and not even innovative! Getting back to the game, some of their observations aren't that untrue. Dante can turn the ball over under pressure, Couisnard is a decent player but no means a star, Shelsted is a small guard who can be bullied some if he can't get space, and our conference has been a bit of joke for the last few years, while the SEC has become much better. I think it's a toss up game, but if I was USC I would be confident as well, they've had a great season for their program, they're on the rise, they're playing a team that has been inconsistent in the extreme, and hasn't shot well at all.
  9. Nah, we weren't even getting in before this, we'll be a 12 seed at best.
  10. I would disagree except for this one reason...we have a coach who knows how to coach in the tournament. I would actually think a lot of teams would like to play a team that relies on a center who isn't an outstanding playmaker. Dante isn't bad at distributing but it's not like he's a passing wizard. We haven't shown a lot of shooting the last 5 or so weeks, we don't hit free throws, we aren't very long or super athletic, and we don't have much coming off the bench now, we have a LOT of flaws. On paper we are very beatable, but we do have a history of pulling off upsets in the tournament with teams that others don't see as that dangerous, we did it when we had guys like Kazemi and EJ Singler, or being led in points by Lou King, not exactly the most scary looking teams, but we have a coach who knows how to win in a tourney situation. So we have a chance, we'll have to shoot it better than we have, but we have a chance to get a win or two.
  11. That's the best performance by an Oregon center in a looooooonnnnggggg time. Tell me we should be thinking about moving on from Altman now!
  12. I think this story is one of the top 3 most interesting developments in college football next year. What can Chip do with superior talent and the ability to simply coach without worrying about all the things that come with being the head coach, I don't think they're going to even have him worry much about recruiting, just let him be offensive guru he was made to be.
  13. I would hate to be Mullens in this spot, it's a really high buyout, but this has gone from being disappointing to a complete dumpster fire of a program, it's now embarrassing how pathetic this team has become, it isn't just a lack of talent or a lack of coaching, it's a lack of caring now, the girls seem to expect to get boat raced now. Promising players have regressed substantially. If I was Van Slooten, Kyei or Gray I would transfer immediately in order to get to a better situation and be better coached.
  14. There's definitely some truth that getting Stubblefield would help, good assistants always help, some of the injuries are just bad luck, I mean you can't do anything about an injury like the ones Bittle, Barthelemy, and Zarzuela had, it's just dumb luck. Typically with strength and conditioning coaches you look into things like strains or torn muscles. There's not a lot you can do about broken bones or really bad sprains, that's just the way the cookie crumbles. Dante has been blessed with some great skills but also has been plagued by the age old killer of big men (bad feet), it's just one of those things I think you're born with, not much you can do about that. Biggest blow during the year I think was the Barthelemy injury, it really hurt to lose the only other point guard on the team, Rigsby is not a point guard and neither is Couisnard. We lost a good shooter and much better defender when you compare Barthelemy to Shelsted, it upset the balance of the team. I think we probably beat UCLA, WSU, and Cal with him. S&C is certainly something that should be looked into, but I think the team is just simply snake bit.
  15. And this is why it's ridiculous to consider Altman the cause of the disappointment for this year, he's been dealt incredibly bad luck the last three years. When I look at the teams that have missed the least amount of games....Surprise!!!! it's all the teams dominating this season. It's almost like you need your best players in order to play well. At no point this year has the team had their full compliment of players, I don't think there's even been a game where they've only been down 2 or 3 players, I think the opening game is the closest they've been, and guess what they killed Georgia in that game.
  16. I guess it might be about where the tickets are and also how long are you willing to wait to get the tickets. I don't have the ability to make it to all the games, so I usually get tickets with my best friend who goes to all the games buying second hand tickets, if you wait until the day before or even the day of, you can get pretty good deals, I'm not surprised you could get your money back on premium tickets to the USC game. Thinking about it more, I guess the tOSU fan will make a profit if he is able to sell the other tickets, so maybe I jumped to a conclusion in retrospect, just seems like a lot a work for the tickets, that's just me though.
  17. I'm just going go ahead and say that tOSU fan is simply not very smart, to think you won't be able to get tickets either through the opponent allotment or through the second hand market is insane. It will of course be a sellout, but I doubt prices are going to be higher than what a season ticket would cost. I don't go to every game but I'm able to get tickets pretty much always if I'm willing to pay for it, I don't think I've seen a game where ticket prices have been so high that I wouldn't at least think about going. Highest I've paid for tickets is probably around 140 a pop, expensive of course, but not anywhere close to a season ticket, and that's a day before the game.
  18. If you're talking about why they're getting ridiculous injuries it's the trainer and the strength and conditioning coach that should be questioned. Even with the injuries it hasn't been a terrible year, it's been disappointing sure, but not to where I would be firing anybody, I still think he's an elite coach He's a hall of fame coach who hasn't had seasons like those of Boeheim or others who at the end of the their career cratered. He has never not reached 20 wins in a season at Oregon, the last time he had a season under .500 was 1995/6! I totally understand being frustrated with this season, but I don't think you'll find a coach who is better out there who will come to Oregon.
  19. In my opinion the calls for Altman are premature, he's by far the most successful basketball coach Oregon has ever had, a down year for him is around 20 wins with a NIT invite, he's had decimating injuries the last three years, let's see how he does if has any semblance of an off-season where he isn't scrambling to put together 10 players together in order to scrimmage, or completely having to change his style mid-season. Graves has had injuries this season, but it's a completely different situation where players are leaving in droves (players that are wanted), his teams have also seemed to regress in basic knowledge of the game, and they don't even play hard. It's turned into a garbage fire of a season.
  20. Did what they should to a inferior opponent, good to see, need to keep the standards high and try to get a good seed in the tournament, it starts with winning these types of games with regularity.
  21. Those should be the regular home whites, they're perfection for what a Oregon home baseball uniform should be, clean, right amount of color, not jazzy, baseball has a different feel when it comes to uniforms compared to basketball or football, they shouldn't try to be too complicated.
  22. Much better performance, shot better, defended better, got to take care of business before we go down to Zona.
  23. I think at this point, when you look at all the programs to not have won a national title, Oregon is probably the most prominent at this point, it's now been about 30 years that they've been a good to great program, having said that, I actually agree with the writer of that article. A&M is probably the most underachieving program in the country for the last 40 or so years, it's been barely a blimp on the radar of not only being a national player but simply fighting for a conference title, this despite having 100,000+ stadium, huge donors, a recruiting bed that is as good as it gets, yet cannot get any traction on being a consistent 8-9 win team. You would have thought they would have at least stumbled into a good coach at some point since Slocum was there, they haven't even had a coach who was good enough to get snatched up by someone else, it's just been disappointing hire after disappointing hire, pretty amazing.
  24. I don't play video games like I used to when I was growing up or into my 20s, but I'm tempted to start playing again just for this, spent a lot of hours in the recruiting hub trying to assemble the top recruiting class, love that series so much, I don't think some people understand how much this is was a part of my generation's fandom.
  25. Incredibly frustrating year, the injury bug has become a joke now, three straight seasons ruined by injuries to key players. Two starters from the opening game gone, key center misses half the season, key 6 man gone, 2/3 of a great freshman class missing significant time, just an incredibly unfortunate series of injuries to this team. Anyone saying that it might be time to look at Altman I think has to realize how hard it is to coach when you are consistently having to change the lineup because you have yet another injury, if anything it should be the training staff that gets a look at.
