Deion Sanders to Miss Pac-12 Media Day, Another Blood Clot Surgery

Recommended Posts

On Wednesday it was revealed via a video by Deion Sanders Jr.'s Well Off Media and Colorado, that Colorado head coach Deion Sanders will in fact not be attending Pac-12 media day on July 21.

The reason for this being Sanders is scheduled to have a surgery on a blood clot in his right leg, and will also be having work done to his left foot to straighten out his toes.

He will instead be replaced by defensive coordinator Charles Kelly, who will be joining quarterback Shedeur Sanders and two-way star Travis Hunter.

This will be Sanders' second procedure in as many months as last month he had a procedure to fix blood clots in his legs due to the fact he wasn’t getting the necessary blood flow throughout his legs and in order order to have two other surgeries: one to fix two hammer toes and one to fix a dislocated left foot.

Some more East Coast bias? However, not having Coach Prime does take away some of the excitement...

Without Deion Sanders in attendance, Pac-12 Media Day might as well pack it up and go home

The high-stepping, high-falutin, headline machine has been a polarizing figure, but he’s also lifted one of the conference’s bottomfeeders back out of the doldrums. Hate him or love him, Neon Deion in front of a microphone is no-holds-barred entertainment even if it backfires at times.

Without Sanders in attendance, what is the point of a Pac-12 Media Day? They need to get their affairs in order first. The list of topics Pac-12 coaches can discuss that will generate positive headlines for Pac-12 football in 2023 are slim.

Chip Kelly’s turnaround of UCLA only draws more attention to the fact that one of the conference’s flagship schools is bouncing for more financially prosperous lands. Oregon staring at the exits complicates their media rights negotiations even further..

Dead Spin accurately describes the extent of the author's grey matter. Turn around of UCLA? I must have missed this. Chip was last scene turning around a win against Pitt in the bowl game into a loss. Game Day was present to see Dan Lanning and friends put a beat down on the Bruins.  UCLA has no playoff appearances under Chip or under Jim Mora. Not even a NY6 bowl.

What is this fool's source for Oregon being ready to bail out when Oregon does not have an invitation from Fox/B1G?

More financially prosperous. Worse case for the Bruins. $64M - $10M in Cal tax payment = $54M and who knows what in travel costs compared to close to $50M the LA schools could be bringing in had they stayed in LA. How prosperous will traveling 3 time zones to play be for non-revenue sports athletes?

Fool that I am, I thought there was a rule that you had to reach puberty before being allowed to publish rubbish.

You can always spin negative if you try hard enough....well that and actively ignore six very tough teams in the conference...

Let’s hope he recovers fully and doesn’t lose his foot.
