Oregon men's basketball adds Stetson Graduate Transfer Mahamadou Diawara

Dana Altman and the Oregon Ducks have secured a transfer portal commitment from Stetson senior center Mahamadou Diawara, a 6-foot-10, 250-pound player originally from Bamako, Mali.

Diawara signed with Stetson out of high school as a 247Sports Composite 3-star prospect from Massanutten Military Academy. He fielded offers from VCU, St. Joseph's, Rhode Island, Penn State, UMass, and East Carolina out of high school. He'll have one year of eligibility with the Ducks, starting this coming year.

Over four seasons with Stetson, Diawara has played in 117 games and started 81. Over his career, he's averaged 8.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and has blocked 65 shots. As a freshman during the 2019-20 season, Diawara had his best year in college earning ASUN All-Freshman Team honors as he averaged 12.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.

This past year Diawara averaged 12.8 minutes per game, starting five of the 30 he played in. He averaged 4.1 points and 4.4 rebounds.

Diawara is from the same city in Mali as the current Oregon senior center N'Faly Dante. The two previously knew of each other prior to both playing college basketball as they were in the same high school class.

Ok, that does it.  We now have two huge Malians to shore up our front court.  I'm going to have to plan my road trip to northwest Florida this coming Thanksgiving weekend and check out my Ducks at the Emerald Classic.  Just have to convince the wife to let me go first (she did let me go up to Canada last preseason and that was fantastic).

Dana gets his Hatter on. Nice get.

BTW, watching BTN I have seen more non-game coverage of Oregon's non-revenue sports than was ever broadcast on Larry's Loser Network.

Being covered by BTN is great and is going to be great for recruiting.

Now, Dana, we all want to get back to The Dance.
