Made no attempt to move out of the way, only winced just as the ball was hitting him.

Seems like that should be an automatic replay of that down?

What did you expect, Pac-12 refs can't move or see well. Would have been smart of Nix to throw it just past the ref, and use him as a rub route type play. Doubt that would have been illegal either ;-)!

I wonder if that has ever been done. A play for when you really need that first down, the ref rub route!

I don’t want to harp on the refs, but that was one heck of a pass breakup!  Wonder if it makes the stat sheet?

On the same topic, was that the same ref that called our last TD out of bounds?  The replay showed it was really not even close to OB.

Refs do sometimes get in the way.   This time he was in the way of the ball.  Sometimes a defender gets rubbed off a ref.  It happens and when it happens it doesn't mean anything other than it happened.

The ref is considered part of the field; no replays or do overs.

What if the ref caught it?  Would that count for Oregon?  Would Washington defenders need to tackle him?  😜

Remember that on the winning play in last year's bowl game...the ref helped Oregon as he DUCKED under a pass coming right at him so Chase Cota could catch it!

On the replay, looks like he had his eyes on something going on to his right, and only brought his attention in front of himself about the same time the ball arrived. Happens.

There was one angle showing the pass was going to be slightly behind Franklin. With the defender so close I assumed it was going to be broken up anyway.
