JabbaNoBargain No. 4 Share Posted March 22 (edited) SEC definitely trying to work the system like they do for football. Problem is, this strategy gets smoked out with a large field…you have to play good teams outside the comfort of your ecosystem when the tournament starts. Have to say though, they created a narrative that worked, but in truth the SEC as a conference was pretty on par (at best) with the PAC this year. woundedknees No. 5 Share Posted March 22 PAC now 5-0... Colorado's KJ Simpson scored the go ahead shot to win 102-100, with 1.7 seconds to go. 1 1

Dave23 No. 8 Share Posted March 23 Fun fact, Colorado hit 28-33 from the foul line. That's how you win games in the tournament.
Jon Joseph Moderator No. 9 Share Posted March 23 Good wins by A+M over Nebraska and Bama over Charleston slowed the SEC bleeding. Nebraska loses its AD to A+M and loses the game to A+M. A+M women have a game coming up against the Cornhuskers women's team. Basketball CT HQ has an interesting sense of humor including the games tomorrow between OREGON and Creighton and Texas and Tennessee. Still, 3-5 at this point for the SEC looks more like the B1G in recent years. I was happy to see Purdue get out of the first round.

Jon Joseph Moderator No. 11 Share Posted March 23 (edited) Friday's NCAA men's tournament takeaways: SEC's struggles have commissioner eating his words WWW.YARDBARKER.COM The conclusion of the second day of the NCAA men's basketball tournament, much like day one, had its fair share of thrills and upset wins to set up an exciting Round of 32. OK, CU is The Buffs and not the Gators but I like seeing Greg Sankey being told to stop his tourney hanky-panky and kudos for the Pac-12 which is now with CU's play in victory over Boise State 5-0 in the Tournament. To quote a legend, "I never said I was noble." Now that 'everyone' can pay players, how's Cal doing at Kentucky? He signed another all-world recruiting class and yet again did not win the SEC tourney and did not get his Wildcats out of the first - round. Kentucky hasn't won a first-round playoff game since 2019! But, Cal's buyout is $33 Million. It's not the B1G but the SEC sure loves BIG buyouts. Right, Jimbo?

Absolutely love this quote: "Greg Sankey just had to open his mouth. He just had to very publicly imply that the tournament needs to be tinkered with, and that giving automatic bids to smaller conferences is wasting them. Well, look what you did now you absolute buffoon." Edited March 23 by Desert Duck 1
Desert Duck Author No. 17 Share Posted March 23 Kentucky's HC Calipari: “I’ve got all my coaching buddies call, and they say, ‘I love your team.’ And I love this team too. We’re built for March.” Calipari said. Yeah... built to get bounced again in the first round and enjoy March from the comfort of your man-cave at home.
