One Fact Shows How Much Oregon Has Surpassed USC in Football Recruiting: Article

From Trojans Wire.  The opening says it all:  “The USC Trojans are getting smoked by the Oregon Ducks in college football recruiting. It’s hard to avoid that reality, as unpleasant as it is.”

"Oregon’s collection of four- and five-star football recruits dwarfs what USC has been able to do. Washington and UCLA also have reason to be concerned, alongside USC, about the extent to which Dan Lanning is stacking recruits and building future rosters in Eugene."

You know your program has reached a really sad level when Oregon not getting a recruit is considered some kind of moral victory.

The only reason why Washington was as good as they were the past two years was really the amount of 5th year players they had on their team from the Covid bonus year. Penix may have been the transfer portal headliner and elevated the team greatly but the bulk of that team was composed of Petersen era players who were coached well and put in a solid scheme for their experience to win.

A 22 year old is just going to be bigger and even bigger than a more highly rated player who is a freshman or sophomore.

Husky fans will never admit it but they benefited from having a team that needed all those years of play to make the jump into the NFL.
