kirklandduck Moderator No. 2 Share Posted July 24 Given what we know about Mario's penchant for dragging down QB development and QB-unfriendly offensive schemes, Fickel is 100% spot on. I'm not that familiar with Manny Diaz but I do know Van Dyke performed better with him as coach.

OregonDucks No. 4 Share Posted July 25 Yikes. You often don't hear coaches that critical of other coaches and programs, in public.
Dr Hilarius Moderator No. 5 Share Posted July 25 It’s a weird article bc it doesn’t actually include the bulletin-board quote from Fickel. It says… “Fickell said Miami coaches held him back and prevented him from being the quarterback that he is capable of being.” That’s not a quote, it’s a paraphrase. Why not print the actual incendiary quote? Seems fishy.

What head coach - in his right mind - goes out of his way to share in-house dirty laundry with the media that can do nothing more than be a further distraction for the guy who is trying to learn his system and get ready to lead his team into the first game of the season? Doesn’t make sense.
