Will the protective helmet covers catch on or will players fail to take advantage of a device that could help reduce head trauma?

It's simple physics. Brain damage is a function of deceleration rate, and that is a function of the distance the deceleration occurs over, ie. The distance from the initial point of contact to full compression of the helmet padding against your head. The guardian caps are one way to increase that distance.

I don't understand why they don't just regulate the padding damping rate and thickness between your head and the helmet shell. Drive up the shell size as needed to achieve uniform protection regardless of the size of your head.

You hear about lineman getting concussions, it's probably not because of the impact speed, it's because their head is so big there is very little padding thickness under the shell.

I'm just an engineer though. What do I know.

That and getting slapped 60+ times a game.

I wonder it this might work its way to soccer as headers cause concussions also.

The QB is important, but if you don't have (name your position) you will not do well!

There are 22 players on the football field at any given time. But what's the one position that makes everything click? The quarterback.

The 'House Settlement' Hits a Road Block.

The NCAA announced a historic $2.8B anti-trust settlement with plaintiffs in May, but a federal judge Thursday says she won't approve it after raising concerns with parts of the deal.

As far as I am concerned, this is good news. Billions for a 'settlement' that does not solve future concerns? Additional antitrust suits have been filed since the House settlement was agreed to by the litigants. No sign that Congress is coming to the rescue.

NCAA, FILE BK Now! A Chapter 7 liquidation if necessary and not a Chapter 11 reorganization. The liquidation plan could include how college sports would be regulated without the NCAA. Different regulators, and different rules depending on the level of competition.

$20+ Billion for what? Nothing.

It's almost like the NCAA Lawyers are only good at enabling bad behavior of the organization they have been compensated to take responsibility for.

They seem hell bent on maximizing the legal exposure of the NCAA.

Maybe the lawyers know what they are doing, just making more work for themselves at the expense of a gullible organization. Billable hours baby!
