Check their schedule below...as their biggest game will occur in just two weeks against....Boise State. Damn! That is it? Look at the rest of that schedule....whew! Will they crack the top-11 going undefeated and receive one of the 7 at-large bids? Would be close, but stretches my imagination to see them getting the nod over a 10-2 team from ANY of the P4. HDuck No. 4 Share Posted September 16 If, it were based on this week’s AP rankings 1- Texas (SEC Champ) 2- Georgia 3- Ohio St (B1G Champ) 4- Alabama 5- Ole Miss 6- Tennessee 7- Missouri 8- Miami (ACC Champ) 9- Oregon 10- Penn St 11- USuC 12- Utah (Big12 Champ) 23- N. Illinois (Group of 5 Champ) – would bump out USC WSU has no conference championship this season, would have to be at-large. In that ranking, Oregon would travel to Miami. As the 10th seed, Oregon would play a 1st round game at 7-seed Ole Miss. The winner would play Ohio State in the Rose Bowl. We have 2 seasons of this playoff mishmash before the format changes in 2025. For the next 2 seasons, the Committee's final running in all probability will not match the playoff seeding. You rank more than 50% of the teams in any conference and you ipso facto add gravitas to the conference's strength-of-schedule; every loss is a 'good loss.' SEC and the Committee always find a way to jig the system. I'll take Former Sooner player, now Tennessee coach, Josh Huepel and the Vols over Oklahoma and USC to safely cover -5.5 at Michigan. HDuck No. 12 Share Posted September 17 WSU, cannot be one of the 5 conference champs, because they are not in a qualifying conference. So, they would have to be 12-0 and at-large somewhere between 5 and 12, but one of those is eliminated in favor of the 5th conference champ. More realistically they would have to be 9, 10, or 11 slot only. Fuskies were not ranked when WSU beat them. Tex Tech wasn't ranked. Maybe Boise St will be Sep. 28, and later if BSU wins the Mt. West and Mt. West Championship. If Beavis rights the ship, they might be ranked when WSU visits Corvallis. Not sure where WSU is going to build the resume that gives Canzano his confidence? SEC has been "gaming" the system for DECADES. Never trust that conference to play fairly or within the "spirit" of the rules. When you have an overstated influence on how the rules are interpreted or created, naturally you set yourself up with an advantage. Would Love nothing better than to see each SEC team get beat in their own backyards during the playoffs. Know it's not realistic, but would still Love to see it.
