You may not have noticed the menu bar in the header.  There is a new item called “News.”  We invited you to explore this section.

When you click on the word “News,” you will see an index of multiple links to sports news sites for your enjoyment!

Sometimes there are articles of interest, but they really don't merit their own thread...Those articles will now go in here.  These postings will relate back to OBD in some way.

From now on, except for a very few circumstances, our threads will be just one page.  Advertising only appears on the first page and we want to make as much money as possible for the site.  The bonus in doing this is that it will be easier for everyone to move around the thread.

You will always be able to refer to the previous thread for reference.  To see the previous thread for this topic click Here.

Be sure to come back often...You just might find something of interest to ponder...

This Thread is for News Articles ONLY.  You can always start a new thread with any of these articles for discussion.

Danno Lives in the Trojans Hearts and Minds. And It Feels So Good.

TROJANSWIRE.USATODAY.COM

It is ridiculous to think Lincoln Riley should be fired, but it is obvious that he wasted a whole year at USC and is paying the price for his 2023 mistakes.

Traveler has gone from a Dark Horse to a Show Pony that looks good before the race starts and that's it.

Yes, Riley waited too long to jettison Grinch, but this would have had SC recruiting as well as Danno and Friends. Right?

SC overpaid this guy who wanted nothing to do with the SEC. Riley defeated LSU in LV and sprung a few leaks in Row The Boat Land. Be prepared. After playing like zombies in the 1st half, SC rallied for the W versus Wisconsin. Post game several players said: 'We didn't think they'd be that good.' This just in, you went 7-5 last season. Prepare for Everyone to be Good!

SC will make the same mistake with Riley that Riley made with Grinch. Riley is a heck of an OC; That's All Folks.

This weekend: Half-Priced Northwest 2-0; Solid Gold LA 0-2.

Top goals - become Oregon's most winningest coach... Love this guy!

Dan Lanning is staying put in Oregon but his buyout is still noteworthy

Probably moving up a spot with Nike Norvel being ahead of him (for now).

The DOJ and Many AGs Say 'No Way' Games Will Be Played at this VENU!

But with the NCAA buying the House and going to direct pay-to-play, NCAA Prez, Charlie Baker, is working with the new Congress for NFL-like litigation relief.

I continue to believe that no such relief will be granted without a player's collective being able to bargain with "management."

Let us hope.  HOWever all "controls and guardrails" for industry (including the "sports" industries) are in the process of being "minimized" in our current reiteration of the capitalist model.

So forgive me if I don't hold my breathe in hoping "litigation" will, in the end, favor no one above the needs, the wants, and desires of the new NFL-lite.

Again, NFL-Heavy is also "waiting in the wings" with their own "army" of litigators (and law firms) waiting to throw their "monkey wrenches" into the process if there is even a perception of the NFL-lite impeding upon Any of the profits currently enjoyed by NFL-Heavy.

Yeah, so get used to the chaos, it's only shown the "tip of the iceberg" of what is to come.  Change is hard!  And rarely painless.

Go Quackers!

Alabama? Underperform? Call in the Finebaum Inquisition Squad. Or, simply tune into ESecPN.

BTW, Pitt went down the tube when its transfer QB from Bama got hurt. Was Milroe unavailable for the Tennessee, Oklahoma, and VANDERBILT games? 🦨

The Big Ten can pay players now -- guilt-free. Does it mean the end of the SEC's utter dominance?

" Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens told CBS Sports. "We're all doing everything we can to identify additional resources and when you're in a league that has an outstanding media rights deal with incredible distribution and you can play – I think we played seven straight weeks on network TV and had outstanding ratings.

"When you're a national brand, people can connect to it that way and it allows you to have an audience of more interested people. As we're trying to create additional resources, that's extremely helpful."

Nick Saban Calls Current NIL Model 'Unsustainable' For College Football

On "The Pat McAfee Show," legendary coach Nick Saban criticized the current state of college football for having no regulations regarding name, image, and likeness deals. Teams spend millions on NIL like the Ohio State Buckeyes, Oregon Ducks, Georgia Bulldogs, and more while smaller schools can't keep up.

Losing to Ohio State in the College Football Playoff national championship is bad enough, but losing, 34-23, and looking overmatched in the process ... well, that wasn't good.

'Overmatched?' Compared to Tennessee and, er, forget about it. 😧
