QuackyQuack No. 1 Share Posted October 7 The week we all have been waiting for is finally here! This more than likely is the most hyped game that Autzen has ever hosted. I have been thinking about a few things and just wanted to put some ink to paper and see if you all agree or not. - A close game wont change either teams season - win or lose - Of course we all want a Ducks win, but repeat after me, the season is not over if we lose. So keep your cool and don’t lose your mind if the outcome is not favorable. This might be one of three games that OBD face off with tOSU - With that first point being made, we are going to see some interesting strategies from both coaches. Since both teams can afford a loss I believe they are going to throw some haymakers. We will see some big risks and creative play calling. Finally the full playbook will be open up! - Key matchups - Their stud WRs vs our untested secondary - If you haven’t had a chance to see Jeremiah Smith play then you are missing out. He is truly a generational talent. Chip Kelly has said at 18 years old he would be the starting receiver on any NFL team today. The big question is has he faced a player like Jabbar Muhammad yet? Smith does have about 5-6” on Muhammad so that is something to be aware of.. - I expect tOSU to throw mostly at whoever Niko Reed/Dontae Manning is matched up against - Our stud DL vs their untested OL - If our DL can continue to pressure the QB like they have over the last couple of games, it could disrupt the passing game and slow down their running game. This in my eyes is where the game will be won or lost. What are your thoughts leading up to the game? Its going to be a long week with anticipation!
DuckFan93 No. 2 Share Posted October 7 Yes, a close loss probably won't even cost us much. But we need to go into this game with a must-win mentality. Dare I say this - this team needs to be as prepared as the 2021 team under MariNo when we visited Columbus. We need to keep the foot on the gas pedal from the kick-off and never let go. As to match-ups, I think our D will hold their own. The question is which offense shows up Saturday - the one that played the 1st half or 2nd half of the UCLA game?
Drake Moderator No. 3 Share Posted October 7 Anything can happen when two good QB’s face each other. On offense, DG will need to be a running threat, and probably need to get some yardage and first downs running the ball. They will want to take away our running game. So, DG needs to be sharp. If DG has a decent game, then it all comes down to turnovers, and defense.
30Duck No. 4 Share Posted October 7 3rd & long has too finally not be exactly what the other team wants against OBD. If any game needs 3 & out's it's this one. Autzen is going to be louder than it's ever been, OBD want to keep the HFA for the whole 60 minutes. I'm sure that Chip has told the players about this.
GODUCKS15 No. 5 Share Posted October 7 Ducks need to play the game not the hype. If the game gets too big for DG it won't be a fun night.
mikethehiker No. 6 Share Posted October 7 That's a great perspective should OBD come up short on Saturday, but think about our prospects if we actually pull this off and look good doing it! Despite all the early season hand-wringing, with a win on Saturday, our Ducks could be the unlikely #1 ranked team in college football for the foreseeable future. We would at least split the vote with Texas and with Texas matched up again Oklahoma this weekend, anything is possible. Did not see that one coming a month after Idaho and Boise St.
HappyToBeADuck No. 7 Share Posted October 7 Since the disaster in at Atlanta against Georgia in DL's Duck head coaching debut, OBD's are 27-4. They could have won all 4 games but came up short. The Ducks are in every game. This conference game should be no different. The winner should win out and be 12-0. The loser of this game should remain in the Top 10 and will have 6 games to climb to 11-1. Then barring any tie breaker mishaps ahould meet in the BIG title game. Its out there for both teams win or lose. The Red River Rivalry is a bigtime game and last year DG put the Longhorns on his back and carried them to victory. He shouldn't be intimidated nor will the moment be to big for him. My expectation is a close game, decided by a field goal. Who wins? No clue...... GO Ducks.... 1 1
