peterfish55 No. 1 Share Posted October 8 My biggest concern for the upcoming game against Ohio State is officiating. Given the present state of officiating and all the terrible and favorable calls that go toward the favored team, it makes me worried that even though we are the "home" team with the home-field advantage, the officials are from the Big 10. I strongly believe that they do not want the West Coast teams to unseat their favorite teams like Ohio State and Michigan. We watched the USC-Michigan game where at least three facemask penalties were not called. And then there was the Miami-Cal game where the officials made three crazy calls to favor Miami and they won by a point. I could go on and on with more examples, like the "non" call where Terrance Ferguson was knocked out when he was a defenseless player and there was no call and no review. It seems to be an epidemic this year where officials have been called-out for questionable calls or no calls. I wish there was a way to put them in the spotlight before the game to ensure a game where there aren't any crazy calls. 3 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

MicroBurst61 No. 5 Share Posted October 8 Until robotic "AI" is roaming the fields making calls to the letter of the law of the game we will ALWAYS have human judgement, bias, and error in calling a game properly. I always hope for an evenhanded, professional, and unfiltered call from our human referees and game officials; but I have(had) lived under the scourge of, "The conference formally known as the PAC" Officiating for a quarter of a century sooooo.... desensitized to crap officiating by now! anyotherduck No. 6 Share Posted October 8 It's "sports entertainment", the athletes are real, the action is real so just enjoy it. Outcomes are determined by who stands to gain/lose the most, or those who work for these stakeholders (refs and reply officials). With all the $$$ on the line now nobody should be surprised either. 30Duck No. 7 Share Posted October 8 Not only is Jeremiah Smith a super talented WR for Ohio State, he's 6'3, 215, going against undersized Corners for the Ducks, an "objective" B1G Ref is going to think he would have caught that if he hadn't been interfered with. The reason he could only use one hand to catch was because the other hand was busily attached to the CB with arm fully extended. The refs had the angle and saw it clearly. In the NFL full extension push off like that is offensive pass interference. But it won't be called when JS is making one handed catches apparently.
