Charles Fischer Administrator No. 1 Share Posted October 12 B1G foes in Northwestern and Maryland (who we play) are on Fox Sports 1 and the Wildcats are up 17-7 at half. Kenny Dillingham is 4-1 this year at Arizona State, and they face Utah at 7:30 PM on ESPN. Mr. FishDuck
30Duck Moderator No. 2 Share Posted October 12 I'd usually pick Utah by default, but this time I'd take ASU. Northwestern is ahead, 17-7, go Wildcats.
EastBayDuckDad Moderator No. 3 Share Posted October 12 Watching Northwestern at Maryland. Impressed some by the Wildcats defense, at least against a sketchy Terrapin offense. Which is pretty limited in the passing game. And the run game. And they just coughed up a fumble that granted NW a defensive TD. What a dumpster fire. Oregon will boat race these guys when they come to Autzen. Game being called on FS1 by the B1G Onion-Helfrich duo. Sorry to say this but Helfrich is not a great color guy. Speaks in a monotone and his 'insights' aren't particularly insightful. Tends to state the obvious or indulge in a bit of hyperbole. But perhaps I'm being a bit harsh given it's a boring old school B1G style game.. Switching over to Utah-ASU now....

30Duck Moderator No. 6 Share Posted October 12 Touchdown, ASU, 13-6. Cam Rising at QB for the Utes. They don't look like the Utes we're used to.
David Marsh No. 7 Share Posted October 12 Former Ducks OC Marcus Arroyo is the OC at ASU. Didn't know that. I know he was fired from UNLV a while ago. Didn't know what happened to him until now.
Charles Fischer Author Administrator No. 8 Share Posted October 12 I am surprised at the talent level in the lower half of this conference. When I watched Washington against Northwestern, it was very apparent that Washington had better talent across the field, while being in a rebuild! And Northwestern now beats Maryland in a big way? Pretty surprised at these bottom half teams. Mr. FishDuck
Solar No. 9 Share Posted October 12 Dilly Dilly is 5 and 1 knocking off a Utah with a bad QB. Marcus Arroyo under a Head Coach that actually likes to score points,
Charles Fischer Author Administrator No. 10 Share Posted October 12 Yikes. Cam Rising was coming off injury, and was awful. ASU wins 27-19! Mr. FishDuck

Pretty surprised at these bottom half teams. It's that middle or bottom middle of a conference that is usually the most interesting to watch from an entertainment point of view when they play each other. There is some wild stuff being thrown around. The top teams vs the mid to bottom usually are pretty boring games because the top has too many athletes. Top v top teams are exciting and lots going on... But they usually follow a meta game that is well tread. Nothing wrong with that but it doesn't usually bring in the surprise factor that lower tier teams bring. Just my thoughts anyway. This year as been interesting so far because I'd say there isn't a clear No. 1 team in the country. Texas's premier win over Michigan doesn't look too impressive anymore. There is a strong group of playoff contenders. But after that group... Everyone else looks pretty mediocre. If the old Pac-12 were around this year Oregon would be dominant by a mile. If the B1G without the West Coast schools were their own thing I think Ohio State would own this conference his year. Same goes for Texas in the old Big 12. The SEC though is a bit of a delightful mess. So we'll see how that shakes out. Also the B1G is going to see a major shift in who is the king of the hill tomorrow I feel.
