OregonDucks No. 1 Share Posted Sunday at 04:03 PM (edited) "What’s so special about football is the love in that room. How many people get to go work and talk about the love everybody they get to go to work with. I love our team. I love everybody in that locker room. That makes this a lot of fun." - Coach Lanning, Post-Michigan Game Press Conference You heard it from Coach Lanning and Dillon Gabriel, after the game, that this TEAM loves and believes in one another. Some of the transfers mentioned, earlier this week, how quickly the TEAM has bonded, and that they are grateful to be at Oregon, pursue their goals including competing for a championship. To win a championship, you need more than just good players, coaches and a system, you need chemistry. This TEAM appears to have that special bond to go with their incredible talent and a veteran QB leading the offense. I would not bet against the 2024 Oregon Ducks football TEAM! Mike West No. 2 Share Posted Sunday at 04:44 PM When I was watching the Ohio State game, it seemed like the Buckeyes don't have that kind of chemistry. It's more businesslike for them. Even Penn State celebrated big plays differently than Ohio State. When OBD make a big play-its a love fest. Even when Pellingham fumbled, there was an outpour of support for the guy. And I thought it was precious that the players basked in enjoying the historical aspect of playing at Michigan. They sat on that field several minutes after the game ended and just took in the "joy" of playing in the Big House-like they were enjoying every aspect of visiting an iconic vacation spot. That to me is sharing the experience like you're family. 1 2 3 2
Charles Fischer Administrator No. 3 Share Posted Sunday at 05:16 PM This team chemistry is another example of how special Coach Lanning is. Nobody sulking in the background as we saw with the coach before Lanning... 3 1 Mr. FishDuck

The columnist a while back said as much in an article a while back. The fans and players couldn't believe that a tiny place like Autzen could be so loud. "Fun" is exactly what Oregon is having. Day certainly wasn't having fun after the loss at Oregon. The win at Penn State wasn't fun. It was just a positive report from the accounting office. I think we can see why a recruit is likely to flip from tOSU to Oregon but not the other way around. Lanning and Oregon are a family. That isn't the atmosphere the 5 star sees with Day and Ohio State.

The same could be said of many coaches/schools across the nation - Franklin/Penn State, Riley/USC, DeBoer/Alabama, etc. Both coaches looked on edge in the OSU/PSU game and it looked like their heads were going to explode at any minute. We should be thanking our lucky stars right now. “The grass is damn green, in Eugene.” Edited Sunday at 10:08 PM by OregonDucks

Oh definitely, Kirby actually looked okay, even during the 1st half against Alabama. Of course he was a great influence on DL.

Guess his last championship is outside the window.
DanLduck No. 8 Share Posted Sunday at 10:32 PM The pressure on the coaches comes from the fan base, and even more from the big boosters. They expect a win every game or else. Both Franklin (1-7 against tOSU) and Day (2-6 against top 5 teams) have issues with their supporters in the big games. If Lanning continues to lose to UW, we would grouse too (don't believe he will) so maybe the heat they feel removes some joy. I hope our OBD fan base never loses the fun and joy which is Duck football.

This is the inevitable concern, and if DL loses to UW this year, he'll definitely hear from the fan base. But, seriously, the Duck fan base has gone through a lot these last 30 years or so. I had a U$C buddy, interestingly haven't talked with him for a while, and he said it is different when all the base accepts are W's.
