David Marsh No. 3 Share Posted December 10 This makes sense and would be a good way for most players to portal for bowl season. Stay with the team and finish out the season. Unless the team environment is toxic it should be the way things are done. Many players, especially top tier players, leave their teams to go compete at a higher level. Staying and competing shows loyalty to their team while also doing what is best for them. The portal opening when it does creates a lot of chaos for many teams. GeotechDuck No. 4 Share Posted December 10 They need to fix this already. Why is the portal open before the season is over? It’s ridiculous. Open it on February 1. 1 1
QuackyQuack No. 5 Share Posted December 10 Personally I don't like it. The moment you put your name in the portal is the day you no longer are part of the team. There is a 2nd portal window open in Spring that players can use if they want to switch schools. If your team is in the playoffs there should only be one thing on their mind.

The coach keep his team at full strength, and the spring portal is a bad idea for players, because so many open spots are taken by then. He's got a lot of players that want to experience the playoffs but would be better served to get in the portal now to maximize their potential to find a good landing spot.
Duckman60 No. 7 Share Posted December 11 The potential problem with a Feb 1st portal date are players who want to enroll in January at their new school. I cannot see any easy answer to the portal issue or the problems with players not playing in a bowl game.
Dr Hilarius Moderator No. 8 Share Posted December 11 I think this is a great idea! Especially, if you’re in the playoffs! In the new world of professional college football, it’s all business.
