Charles Fischer Administrator No. 1 Share Posted January 1 I can't believe I missed this, as I was wondering a week ago where the ESPN GameDay guys were going, but forgot to check it. Sure enough they are going to be in Pasadena from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM discussing our game in depth. Since it is B1G foes, don't they want BOTH to lose? I wonder how they are going to spin losses by Alabama and South Carolina to B1G teams? Fun stuff, so let's discuss what they are covering in this thread, and prepare for a B1G day! 30Duck Moderator No. 2 Share Posted January 1 Well, Herbie says it's a "False Narrative" that he was supporting SEC teams. How'd we ever think that? He did pick OBD to win the Natty back in August, does he stick with that? I think Desmond will. Of course it all comes down to Corso.
HappyToBeADuck No. 3 Share Posted January 1 For this college footbsll fan there was a time that Game Day was must watch TV for a college football fan. The TV crew would go thru the games that would be played that day by conference. I would hang in thru all the meaningless babble waiting for the few minutes that OBD's would be mentioned. Some years the Ducks would be a prominent part of the discussion because of their success on the field. A national tv show should showcase the teams that are driving the national narrative. At some point at ESPN/ABC/Disney the powers that be decided that they should and will decide the narrative. They abandoned the fact that the college football season is a journey for all to traverse. The narrative is decided on the field and their role is to take us on the journey as it unfolds. Alabama, South Carolina Ole Miss, LSU and A&M did not make the journey in 2024. And the VOLS got their shot but were out matched hy osu2. Game Day should have celebrated all 12 of those that made the journey. How exciting for Indiana, SMU, BSU and ASU fans. Instead they broadcast about those SEC teams who were more worthy. Simply classless....... On a side note, Game Day was just another sports show with a unique ability to broadcast those in the spot light. Then they came to Eugene.......Thousands of Duck fans showed up in the Dark and put on a show. The Duck mascot became a national figure. Going forward, fans at other schools flocked to help make Game Day must watch TV It really was launched that day in Eugene. Today the Duck players can put their own personal stamp on Game Day, Ryan Day and the trash talking Buckeye players. Today, OBD's can put a statement on their stamp for respect. OregonDucks No. 4 Share Posted January 1 ESPN College Gameday used to be a fun show that celebrated all of college football, especially the smaller programs and underdogs. Corso and the Gameday crew embraced the Oregon Ducks and Eugene before the rest of the country realized that there was something special brewing with “That Team Out West.” For whatever reason, I no longer feel that way towards the show. I still tune in occasionally because I like Corso, Howard and Herbstreit (sans his recent comments about the playoff teams). However, ABC/ESPN/Disney is so SEC biased, it’s hard for me to watch/listen to anything that they say.
30Duck Moderator No. 5 Share Posted January 1 All week, all we've heard is about how osu2 destroyed Tennessee. Somehow, Oregon being undefeated isn't interesting. In fact, one of the reasons osu2 is favored in the Rose Bowl is because Oregon won the first game. Another reason osu2 is the favorite this time? Jeremiah Smith, the One Handed Catch Wunderkind, right out of Marvel Comics! Meanwhile, discussion of Oregon's receiving corps starts and stops with Tez being Nix's half-brother. No mention of Stewart, Holden, Ferguson, Sadiq. That's fine. 1
Jon Joseph Moderator No. 6 Share Posted January 1 GO DUCKS! DESTROY THE BUCKS! 4-1 vs. the SEC, so far, speaks for itself. There was no way 9-3 Illinois, with two of its losses on the road vs. PO Penn State and OREGON, should not have been ranked behind three three-loss SEC teams. Bielema schooled the Baby Beamer.
Sandy Rocks No. 7 Share Posted January 1 Those receivers that have not been respected need to feed on that disrespect and show they also can play big boy football. There was a reason that Oregon won before, there is a reason why they will win again. 1 1
30Duck Moderator No. 8 Share Posted January 1 Des sticks with his pre-season pick, goes with OBD, so does McAfee. Saban says Oregon probably can't beat osu2 again, Herbie gets out of picking because he's announcing. Corso goes with Brutus.
Charles Fischer Author Administrator No. 9 Share Posted January 1 They had a betting guy later who gave his pick. The first time around he picked Ohio State, but this time went with Oregon and the "Over," which I would agree with. He is 7-1 in recent games they reported... 3 1 Mr. FishDuck

So a mention of the wrong player.
