OregonDucks No. 4 Share Posted Wednesday at 12:09 AM (edited) This is a GREAT pickup, IMO. As I mentioned in another thread, Makhi Hughes reminds me a lot of Bucky Irving. He has good vision, sets up his blocks nicely, makes good lateral moves and runs much tougher than his size. Even if James comes back, he is a good compliment to James’ more bruising running style. Welcome to the Ducks, Makhi. Make sure to truck your younger brother in practice. Edited Wednesday at 12:11 AM by OregonDucks
JDuck No. 5 Share Posted Wednesday at 03:28 AM (edited) Hughes and Riggs could be a sneaky good 1-2; Stewart, incoming WRs; O Line maybe better than we project; Moore at QB. Secondary could be sneaky good with portal and if 5* kids step up early. D Line and LB are biggest questions, and TE. Matayo is back! Several good to great recruiting classes in a row...are they coached up and ready? Young names we don't know well yet...fill those gaps? Lanning, Stein, Lupoi...do they really have the chops? I think the grass is greener than we think Edited Wednesday at 03:30 AM by JDuck 1 1 1
BigBallzChipper No. 6 Share Posted Wednesday at 06:45 AM Watched just a bit of film. My opinion he has above average vision, good lateral quickness, doesn’t come down with arm tackles, he is pretty shifty could put DBs/LBs on skates. However, I don’t see that burst and top end speed. I saw him get caught a few times from behind. Need that LaMike/DAT/tony brook james speed.

The only times I saw him get caught from behind, in the video that Charles posted above, was when the defenders had an angle. His listed 40 times are similar to those of Bucky Irving’s and he’s more than capable of breaking that 40-60 yard run given an opening, IMO. I’m sure that the coaches would love a back with DAT / LMJ speed but it can’t be easy to find those players who are also good running backs (with vision, moves, toughness, balance, etc.). I wish we could find the next J-Stew because he was the complete package. Edited Wednesday at 03:24 PM by OregonDucks
Ktmguy2018 No. 8 Share Posted Wednesday at 03:02 PM In regards to his speed, if he can improve that it's gonna be at Oregon. Our speed coaches are second to none and just adding a couple hundredths makes a huge difference. I saw a back with tremendous balance also. Even after he was hit on sidelines runs, he had the balance and strength to stay in bounds for a other 10-12 yards and hit the end zone.
DuckFan93 No. 9 Share Posted Wednesday at 07:24 PM Very nice RB1 replacement for Jordan James. We are set at that position next season!
BigBallzChipper No. 10 Share Posted Thursday at 01:09 AM Yes, agree that LMJ & DAT speed are just hard to find. Also, like Ktmguy2018 pointed out, he very likely could get faster.
