Oregon’s run game in 2024 was good. At 13-1 with a B1G Championship under their belt, the Ducks were a very good team this year. However, the run game, like much of the offense in 2024, took a significant dip from 2023. That needs to change for 2025 as Dan Lanning and the Ducks will look to maintain their hold ...

For whatever reason, Whittington (post-surgery) has seemed slow or hesitant with his first two steps. (I wonder how many TFLs he had this year.) Two workarounds to get him into open field, where his lateral shiftiness confounds tacklers: 1. Make him a favorite quick-release receiver. 2. Put the QB under center, giving NW his first two steps before he gets the hand-off.

Even pre-injury in the Dillingham version of the offense Whittington would get fly sweeps but often get tackled for negative yardage.

To make those sweep type plays really work it requires a player of next level speed. Speed that Whittington frankly doesn't have.

The Breakaway RB is the stark difference between 2024 Oregon and the other Duck teams that contended for a title, or as far back as Reuben Droughns, whose team didn't have a Natty in sight, but he was thunder & lightning. James was, "not a 60 yard run, but would get 60 in a drive".

As David mentioned, the lack of a explosive play from the RB was noticeable through the game, particularly in the 2nd half. But perhaps some lightning can be in the forecast in 2025.

The No. 1 High School team in California (Mater Dei) featured the Max-Prep POY for California, a rare Rivals 5-Star who is coming to Oregon. He has to be the most under-the-radar 5-Star to ever sign with Oregon, and we will possibly see him in Spring Football, but for certain in Fall Camp.

And he wears cool gloves and shoes...

With Makhi Hughes coming in and presumably becoming RB1, I wonder if Noah will transfer out at some point.

Must agree with Charles. Davison a big dude, against excellent competition, looked pretty fast. LaGarrett Blount comes to mind.

Blount, undrafted, lasted 9 years in the NFL and was a part of 3 Super Bowl winners. 6,000+ yards an almost 70 TDs Ds and left the game with a reported $7 million in the bank.

It seems like it has been a while since the Ducks have had a hammer. Looking forward to watching where Jordan fits. The Trinity League in SoCal is considered the big stage in high school football.
