This might be an even better matchup for him--all preparation, study and strategy and NO recruiting.

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if he takes the leap.

I have a feeling he really wanted to stay in the NFL but between the Eagles and the Niners he needed to rehap his credentials.

He would have to go into a good situation. The Bears are looking at David Shaw for OC, but Chip would do well with Caleb as his QB. I think Atlanta would be a good fit as well. However, the Panthers, Jets and Cowboys are so dysfunctional they would sink him.

I'm thinking maybe the Eagles, if they were to offer him OC, because that's getting even closer to his home state of New Hampshire. (Watch, now that I've said that, if he goes anywhere, it will be to a team 1,000+ miles from NH! 😄)

At Oregon, it was getting messy, it was bad enough before NCAA violations, and he really wanted to coach in the NFL. Now, he's got a cushy job, doesn't have to worry about recruiting, just draws up plays for the 4 & 5 stars the other coaches bring in. It can't get better for Chip in the NFL.

Unless it's not about ease of the job.

I suspect he has a goal or desire to get a super bowl ring to go with his national championship ring.

Can't get that without being in the NFL.

In terms of comfort these guys are set up for life with what they're paid. Ease of the job isn't really a factor.

It'll be all about his goals and what he wants to achieve.

How does Knowles' departure affect Chip. I'm not sure the NFL tastes as great to Chip now, will be interesting.

At a certain point one would think he has enough to never need to work again because of the $ and having it be easy or risk free really isn’t a priority.
