USC, who Oregon defeated earlier this season beat Illinois, last night, the Trojans beat Michigan State.

I probably shouldn’t watch this game, but I can’t help myself.  Moss and M. Cook are out.

Another fantastic start.  Missed layups and giving up open looks

Here we go again, missing open shots and giving up defensive plays.

I literally can’t watch anymore.  This team is a shell of itself.  Where is rock bottom?

After 0 against UCLA, Shelstad has 5 in the first half, Bittle has 2, Nebraska is shooting 52%, Oregon, 32%, both in the 20% on 3's.

1-3 in Q2 now?  Yikes.

Never have I turned on a team like this one, so freakin soft, Bittle and Angel are such liabilities on defense, no ability to switch, yet we don't fight through screens, so we just end up with mismatches as Bittle and Angel who have NO athleticism on defense just get driven by.  Soft mentality, nobody wants to step up, nobody rebounds, nobody has toughness, just an incredibly disappointing team who can NOT get off to a fast start to save their lives, just sleep walk through the first 10 minutes.

No urgency, no communication.

Our seniors play like freshman, no intelligence at all on defense or offense.  Shelstad just does not understand that HE HAS TO START FAST!!!!  Just sort of meanders about until the second half, then tries to turn it on.

Wouldn't be surprised if we didn't win another game at this point, we look completely lost at this point without a shred of swagger.

Is this the worst defensive team in the Altman era?  A bad Nebraska team just shot 22-28 from inside the arc on our home floor, with 19 layups/dunks.

Might be, we have incredibly slow un-athletic bigs this year who cannot switch which is a bad idea when the whole point of Altman's defense is to switch on screens.  Shelstad isn't a good defender neither is Key, they're small so they can't switch either.  Tracey and Bamba aren't bad but they aren't ++ either.  Evans just isn't very smart, and I think he's more of a 3 since he is skinny.

MacLean said during the broadcast that now, nobody looks at their schedule and says, "there's a win". Ask Michigan and Michigan State.

Embarrassing - no team leader, little basketball IQ, no physicality to speak of.

I feel embarrassed honestly that I was so high on this team after the tournament back in November.  When I think back to that, we got incredibly lucky against Bama that Sears had his worst game of the year against us, Key was on such a heater back then that he was instant offense off the bench.  I actually said at the time that I was ready for him to cool off.

What makes this so incredibly frustrating is that Bamba was a 35-38% 3 point shooter during a 4 year stretch, I mean he's proven he can shoot, Angel was a 40+ percent shooter at Stanford, what has happened for them to just become so bad from out there!

There's no way around it, the team was incredibly fortunate early in the season, their big wins, the come from behinds, including against Portland, could have gone the other way, coaching, or lack of, is part of the problem.

Oregon has led for 1:20 combined in the last three games and have just essentially been blown off the floor.  I think the most frustrating thing, is that it just seems like a lack of effort.

Giving up almost 80% shooting inside the arc with 19 layups and dunks on your home floor is ridiculous. At least have a little pride and foul someone.

Tracey jogging back after mishandling a ball near half court just about sums it up.  Even the announcers in the B!G after show came out and said it looked like Bittle just quit out there.

Something is going on with this team.  It’s not just that they are losing.  They are going through the motions. Defense is bad.  They are getting beat on the boards.  They are giving up layups and dunks.  They are not getting 50/50 balls.  Body language and effort is terrible.

As a coach, you have to do something to try and light a fire under them.  Bench them all and play the walkons if you have to, even if it costs you another game.

When they aren't scoring...being rewarded with baskets during play on offense...they lose heart on defense and slack off instead of being tough.

Nebraska is now 14-8, 2-5 on the road

Big Ten:  4-7,1-5 on the road

Ducks 16-6

Big Ten 5-6

at Michigan

at Mich St

Northwestern

Rutgers

at Iowa

at Wisconsin

USC

Indiana

at fuskieland

then B1G tournament

If 20 wins is threshold for NCAA Tournament, not sure how they get there

20 wins in 2022 is fewest Altman has had with the Ducks

Since the Schollies are doing that just fine, why not?

An interesting box score.  Rebounds, fouls, turnovers, free throws, assists, blocks - all about equal.  very close

But, here's the shooting stats:

2-pt shots:  22 of 28 Huskers, 19 of 40 Ducks
3-pt shots:  4 of 23 Huskers, 5 of 20 Ducks

Great post.

Just watched the second half…..and am appalled at the defensive effort. I’m guessing that 80 percent of Nebraska’s points after the half came in the paint and at the line.

Atrocious defense.

Shooting bricks didn’t help either.
