Looks like letting it idle for a few years will happen due to previous scheduling. I don't think we should drop any pre scheduled games to accommodate a Beaver game. They already canceled  a P5 home game to squeeze in last years road game. I'd say that was generous enough.

My polite no is based on evaluating alternatives.  I would prefer an FCS game, and a cross-regional Power 4 game such as a Big12 foe, ACC foe, or SEC foe to complete 2 of the 3 slots.   The B1G and SEC have already had discussions about an annual game for each conference member.

For the third slot I would prefer a rotation of old Pac12 opponents in areas that provide some recruiting boost:  Arizona, ASU, Utah, Cal, and perhaps, BYU or WSU in lieu of Oregon State.   Aside from nostalgia, I'm not sure what Oregon "receives" by scheduling OSU every season?   Not saying, never, but annually just seems too much to me based on what alternatives might bring.  Even Fresno St, San Diego St, UNLV occasionally?

I think the thought was that, aside from carrying on the tradition, the Ducks would have an OCC game that would not involve much traveling,

One thing I just thought of is that if we scheduled, a let's say, Fresno State or a Utah State, it could be a home game. The Beavers have an expectation that we play in Corvallis every other year. I hate to see the Civil War end, but I'm not sure playing up there every other year is really worth it

I think it makes as much sense as playing Montana State, Portland and Idaho, and it a pretty easy travel day.

You would get good crowds and it would be a good test. Yes, it would suck to lose, but I can see the rivalry Y column growing exponentially for OBD!

As I noted earlier, I would prefer opponents in the West who put the team in good recruiting territory:  ASU, Utah, Cal, San Diego.   The first 3 of that 4 also means a cross conference (Big12, ACC) boost on strength of schedule.

Any periodic game with OSU should be conditioned that both programs do not pay the other a visitor fee if they are home-and-home.  In the unlikely event of a 2 for 1, then I could see UO paying OSU something for one of the games - just as it planned to do with Boise State.

An "annual" game reduces schedule opportunities for other potentially attractive opponents.

I hope the two sides have met at Appomattox Court House and called it off.

Why subsidize a bunch of Beavers? OBD will be the rodent's most watched game or close thereto, every season. Is it possible for Oregon to bend over further than OBD has? 🤮

Exception - DROP the H+H series with Baylor. Replace the 2027 away game against the Bears with a home game vs Beavis. Play Beavis in 2028 if need be but only in Autzen. No tripping to OSU's Bandbox stadium.

In 2027 OBD Plays at Michigan, and draws Ohio State, and Penn State at home. GULP!

Traveling to Waco in Week 2 is Wacko; 🤪 especially, with the B1G triumvirate on the schedule.

Dear Rob, 2027 is a great season for OBD to play eight home games. And what does OBD get for beating Baylor? Next to nada. But in the event of a loss? (In this age of NIL, please do not try and tell me that one game at Baylor will make a difference in recruiting Texas.)

In 2024 National champ Michigan played three G5 teams OOC, all in Ann Arbor. In 2025, Ohio State played three G5 teams OOC, all in Columbus. No P4, no problem.

Win the B1G, or finish 10-2 at the worst and you are in the PO field.

It was great for OBD to win the B1G in Year One, but I'm reasonably certain that TOSU's title had the B1Gger impact.

TBH I don't like the cupcakes only ideology, those matchups are extremely boring and predictable, imo, what we should do is keep Oregon State permanently similar to the Colorado vs. Colorado State rivalry, an SEC opponent in case the scheduling agreement gets agreed to, and a regional opponent like Utah or Colorado.

I just hope we end up drawing a highly uncommon opponent like Alabama in the Big Ten x SEC alliance (if it goes beyond the planning part)

Only if it’s always at Autzen.

Fair, travelling to Corvallis isn't desirable anymore.
