Either the schedule contrived for Texas was a gift for joining the SEC, or nobody noticed, either is bad. The collapse at Alabama immediately after Saban left, because he knew the floor was dropping must see, if only for Finebaum's fatalistic reactions to DeBoer's debut. In 2025, Alabama HAS to beat Oklahoma, but it will still be hollow, and hope to match the record of DeBoer's former team.

USC or SC, which will approach the CFP in 2025? Kelly left Notre Dame to go to LSU because he saw the SEC as the shortest path to the Natty, that didn't work. Kiffin? His complaining is endless at Ole Miss, William Faulkner is pleading for him to "shut up!"

Which will keep it going in 2025, Cignetti's "emerging superpower" Indiana or Vanderbilt, that actually had some impressive wins?

Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables is on the hot seat and has to play this competition. Wow.

Michigan, Auburn (hasn't done much of late but does have a Blue Chip roster,) Texas (Dallas,) at South Carolina, Ole Miss, at Tennessee, at Alabama, Missouri, and LSU.

How about Coach Luke Fickell's toasty seat at Wisconsin?

Miami (Ohio) a team predicted to win the MAC and contend for the G5 playoff spot, followed by a game at Alabama.  Then, how's this for four Saturdays in a row? At Michigan, Iowa, Ohio State, at Oregon.

After a well-deserved week off, Wisconsin plays UW, at Indiana, Illinois, and at Minnesota. 😁

No ACC, B12, or G5 schedules come close to these two gauntlets which is why the B1G and the SEC want four assured playoff spots for each conference.

Scheduling in these mega-conferences matters more than ever and I respect the B1G for trying to balance the schedules out from 2024 through 2028.

In 2027, OBD plays at Michigan and entertains Ohio State and Penn State.😉

At Penn State is 'The Game' on OBD's 2025 schedule. Just Win Baby!

AUTZENZOO.COM

ESPN released a list of the most "season-defining games" of 2025 and included one of the Oregon Ducks' matchups within the top 10.

PSU has the week off the Saturday before the Nits play OBD and three easy-peasy OOC games before playing the Ducks: Nevada, FIU, and Villanova (in football, not basketball.)

PSU will be rested, but ready? Before this game, OBD plays Montana State, Oklahoma State, at Northwestern, and Oregon State.

OK, this belongs in a B1G schedule analysis which will be up on The Forum. 😁

Ok, I'll accept Oklahoma and A+M as kind of rough games due to the rivalries. But other than the game at Georgia, this schedule is by SEC standards, a walk in the park.

Compare this with Oklahoma's schedule posted above. I'd Sooner have the Longhorns schedule.

What awaits the Texas Longhorns as they try to reach a third straight College Football Playoff in 2025?

This ranking is SEC-Centric but OBD at Penn State is No. 4 on the list of Top 25 games in 2025.

Some pretty insane differences in scheduling, and feels like they are penalizing Georgia for their success?

By contrast, our schedule is MUCH more favorable..,

Georgia did have a brutal schedule last season. Makes it all the more impressive that they won the conference.

This was a fantastic article that will impact Oregon and the Playoff.  I will be saving the link for reference in the future, as I know I will want to know these scheduling differences later.

Lots of Dawg fans do not realize how well the Dawgs did in 2024 with a totally banged up OL-- a season long problem--and a group of C- (for the SEC) receivers who had problems holding on to the ball. Under these circumstances, I am proud at what they were able to accomplish. SEC Championships don't grow on trees these days.

Great write up Jon. I only wish those in charge of schedules would do the research you did. The whole antiquated cross division rivalry was always stupid and nonsensical. Florida draws LSU every year and while it's a fun game to watch there aren't any Gator or Tiger fans that need that game. I would like an Arkansas or Missippi State in between the Georgia and FSU games some years. I'm sure LSU wouldn't mind Vanderbilt or South Carolina once in a while over coming to the Swamp.

The different ways Texas and Oklahoma have been treated is also mind boggling as you pointed out the programs first two years in the SEC. Yes Texas played at Michigan last year and will be at Ohio State this upcoming season, but they'll be given a mulligan if they lose at Ohio State. Not sure if Georgia or Florida will if they lose to Clemson and Miami respectively. Texas got their way in the Big 12, they helped destroy that league by chasing away Nebraska, A&M, Missouri and Colorado with their Longhorn Network. Imagine the PAC Twelve having such a vanity project like the Trojan Network or some really ill conceived and poorly ran PAC 12 Network with a commissioner using major funds to build lavish offices in expensive San Francisco.... Scratch that last part.
