n the Big Ten Tournament as a whole, I’m going with Oregon. The Ducks have won seven in a row, and the dominance of center Nate Bittle will serve Oregon well against numerous Big Ten teams that can compete inside. Michigan State is, on paper, the obvious choice to win it all, but Dana Altman’s Oregon squads pulled off upset conference championships in 2019 and 2024. The Big Ten road is tougher, but I’m rolling with the eighth-seeded Ducks to take down Indiana, the Spartans, Wisconsin and Maryland en route to a title.

While Oregon has won 7 in a row, I still think this team has a moderate ceiling.  They work extremely hard, so they have that going for them.  However, they have a bunch of players that are good a 1 or 2 things and not a lot of complete players on the roster, outside of Bittle. Shelstad and Evans should be on the list, but they need to be more consistent.

I really believe this might be Dana's second best coaching year ever (behind winning 20 games in his first year at Oregon).  I am amazed that he was able to get these guys to a point where they are consistently winning games.

IIRC, Altman has never lost a first round of 64 game in the NCAA tournament, even as a double-digit seed, so you know they will be prepared for that game.  However, I don't see a deep run in the tourney.  You need great guard / wing play in March on both ends of the floor to advance.  Who is that for Oregon?  Shelstad is very inconsistent, but clutch.  Key is awesome on offense, but a liability on defense because of his size.  Bamba is the opposite - excellent on defense, but a subpar shooter.  Moss is also a good defender, but not a someone that is going to fill it up. Tracey is average on both ends, but not elite.

Unless Shelstad goes full "Tyler Dorsey March Mode", I don't see how this team gets past the Sweet 16. I think that is probably the ceiling.

How to close out the 1st half! So happy to see Bittle finally make a bucket and see Shelsted balling out.

Go Ducks, shut those Hoser Hoosiers fans up!

3 points from Bittle in the 1st half, Oregon leads by 8. Most of the turnovers were early and that was cleaned up. Angel's best game in a long time. You'd think Bittle has to score more, but it's working so far. Be nice if he ended up in double digits.  The first 4 minutes of the second half are always important!

The ducks finished the half with a 13-2 run. Everyone is stepping up. Bittle only has 5 points, Angel has at least 10 points. If they can keep scoring like that, Indiana has no chance. Bittle can't be kept down. Also have made several threes.

I provide baseball scores as the game is happening, and when I’m busy during the day, I sure wish somebody would provide the same with Basketball.

What is the halftime score?

Oregon 37- Indiana 29

This is what I thought the Ducks would be like, Angel and Bamba being offensive threats and picking up the slack when Bittle isn't scoring much, unfortunately it didn't happen much during the league season.

Very good run at the end of the half

Geotechduck, several players on this duck team were starters and stars on their previous team. What a player can do and what they are doing often change in post season play. Take today's game, Angel already has ten points. Each year you see teams elevate their games in the post season. Shelstad always elevates his game when he needs to. A team will always beat an opponent opposed to a team with a couple stars on a team. I guess we will see.

10:22 left

Ducks 50 - Hoosiers 47

Ducks only have 1 TO left.

Settling for too many quick 3s.  OBD’s offense is so much better when they get the ball inside and play inside-out.

Also, too many turnovers.  Need to value each possession.

Go Ducks !!!

Oregon has 40 FGA, while Indiana has 54 FGA.  Difficult to win games turning the ball over and giving the opposition 14 more shots.  They need to start taking care of the ball.  If they can do that, they should be okay.

Ducks 61 -  Hoosiers 54

Shelstad at the line for 2

Far from perfect, but better job of getting shots in the paint.

Bamba, who is an elite perimeter defender, brought his offense today.  17 points on 6-9 FG.

Go Ducks!!!

If Bamba can play like that going forward, they might have something.  That was an outstanding game for him.

Solid win, Angel's best game in a long time. The Ducks were clearly better, eventually were too much for the Hoosiers. Bamba-Win streak, since he turned it around the Ducks haven't lost.

Ducks played well down the stretch.  Shout out to Brandon Angel who had his best game in a while (14 points) on a night Bittle struggled offensively.

Looking forward to watching the Ducks spank Sparty tomorrow!

This was basically the team I thought we would be coming into the league play.  Angel and Bamba acting as the third and fourth scorers who provide another option when Bittle and Shelstad are cold or are just getting doubled.  We're playing better on defense, we're rebounding better, I don't think we played particularly well but Indiana went cold down the stretch.

I really wish Dana would draw up better positions late in the game when we're up.  I'm not totally against running down the clock, but we never seem to get great looks, typically we just throw something up at the shot clock buzzer, seems to be his strategy, makes me nervous.

Michigan St. will be a great game for us, they played a great game against us last time, they just couldn't miss in the second half and we crumbled under their great crowd.  I of course want a win, but I'll be quite content if we lose in a down the wire game.  We really need to play a team that is the caliber of Sparty.

It would be really encouraging if Angel and Bamba have back to back efficient games.

Shelstad looked really quick and fast today. His floor leadership and presence were outstanding.

Everyone contributed and had his moment.

Both Angel and Bamba had monster games. It was very balanced scoring and defense. Bittle only had seven and Shelstad was top scorer. Bittle actually had the most assists. Get the ball to the hottest scorer. This is tournament time, that means the time when the experienced players who have been coasting along finally kick it into high gear.

I am excited for the next game with Michigan State. They are both the hottest teams in the conference. If the ducks win that game, the sky's the limit. Altman's team owned the PAC-12 tournament, hopefully they will do well here too.

These two where instrumental offensive threats for their teams last year, Let's hope they can keep it going.

Now, show up for two halves vs. No. 1 seed Sparty and B1G COY Tom Izzo!

I want to believe you, I really do, I just sort of wonder how good Indiana actually is.  Our stretch of wins only really contains one win that I would consider against a "good" team that would be Wisconsin, and even in that game we sort of got lucky with a deep deep 3 to tie it, we certainly played well in that second half and OT though!

Just depends on matchups, I really don't want to be in Auburn or Duke's bracket, I think both those teams aren't good matchups for us.

Next game will say a lot of about where the Ducks are now after that tough 5 game losing streak.

Regarding how good Indiana is: They beat Purdue 73-58 down the stretch and would have finished on a 7 game win streak had they not lost to OBD twice:)

Personally I've had a difficult read on the B1G, there aren't any teams that would be considered for a top 2 seed, how much of this is manipulation from ESPN over claiming that the SEC is the greatest basketball conference ever is a matter of debate.

On one hand Oregon is the only team to really impress during its non-con schedule, then again Oregon lost some bad games against mid competition in the conference.

I'm hopeful we'll continue this run.

Purdue beat both Alabama and Old Miss but lost to TA&M in a tight one and lost to Auburn by 18. Illinois beat Arkansas but lost to Tennessee by 2 and Alabama by 13. Oregon beat both Alabama and TA&M.

I didn't check the bottom half of the conference but the B1G vs SEC the B1G is definitely holding its own.

Definitely. State is vying for a 1 or 2 seed, so they'll be intense. Let's see if getting a game in is an advantage for the Ducks against Sparty who'll be playing their first. State is good, but they're not a super team, Indiana beat them during the season. Ducks had TO's early, cleaned that up in the 2nd half.

The flow of the game looked good, few early 3's. Neither Bittle nor Shelstad had great games, but the Ducks were really in control of the game.

The officiating in the USC game is pretty poor. I am not rooting for anyone in particular but the refs have given this one to Purdue. PAC bias is real.

USC didn't help itself when one guy hogged the ball like I used to see a guy do in pick-up games at Gerlinger hall in the 70's. The Trojans' chances at an upset ended when the player dribbled, and dribbled and dribbled, then tossed the ball right to a Purdue player.

I didn't love the end game strategy either but when it comes down to it 2 very bad calls on balls tipped out of bound one that was call correctly then overturned. Ticky tacky nothing foul to decide the game isn't even close to right. Just hate to see the refs decided the game.

Yep pretty bad calls I'd be mad too. I'm in no shape or form a USC fan or condoning getting in a fight with a fan but the officiating wreaked of blatant protectionism. Officiating in the Pac was bad but it was at least equal opportunity bad.
