SoGaDawg No. 2 Share Posted Monday at 10:36 AM (edited) I think those are great picks! My favorite Dark Horse pick is the GT gnats though. Brent Key has done very well turning that program around IMO, and Buster Faulkner is one heck of an OC. I really wanted GA to make him our OC. Rumor is that we offered him a Co-OC position to work with Bobo and he turned it down bc he wanted the whole ball of wax. I don’t blame him a bit, he is too good to share the position with Bobo. Also, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Tech actually wins the ACC and makes the Playoff, and honestly I’d like to see that happen. I know that sounds odd coming from a guy that bleeds Red & Black, but for some reason since I was a kid I’ve always pulled for GT except for when they play GA. I think I’ve always had sort of like a little brother syndrome about GT. I want us to beat the crap out of them, but I don’t want to see anyone else beat the crap out of them. Smith72 Moderator No. 3 Share Posted Monday at 12:53 PM Thank you Jon for another wonderful FishDuck article! I can't argue with any of your picks. Great research on who's who in each conference. I too am not a Simpson but like you I am a homer also . And I think our Ducks will repeat as BIG champion. 1 1
30Duck Moderator No. 4 Share Posted Monday at 02:08 PM Jon, I'll put Alabama and dark horse in the same sentence, that was fun. But go Heupel and the Vols! GT, Clemson, Cal? Anybody but The U. Arizona State loses Skattebo, but has the most returning production? Incredible, after years and years, hearing that ASU is a sleeping giant, they woke up!
Jon Joseph Moderator No. 5 Share Posted Monday at 02:44 PM Once again, thanks to my editor who makes my stuff view-worthy, and for the kind comments. Scheduling matters so much in today's mega-conferences. With the SEC simply changing game locations and not opponents in 2025, will the It Just Means More Conference send four or more member teams to the 2025-26 playoff? Georgia's road schedule in 2024, as Kirby Smart reminded commissioner Gene Sankey on the podium after the Dawgs second victory of the season over Texas, was simply brutal. Lots of roster turnover for UGA, but playing Alabama, Ole Miss, and Texas at home has to be a relief, and also has to be one of 2025's best home schedules. OBD, according to Athlon Sports, has the 5th-easiest schedule in the B1G. No Ohio State and no Michigan. Only two games versus preseason top 25 ranked teams, on the road at Penn State and versus Indiana. Perfect, on paper at least, for a season with significant turnover for the Ducks on both sides of the ball. OBD has a Dawgs-like gauntlet coming up in 2027 with a game at Michigan and visits from Ohio State and Penn State, and a tough road game in Waco, Texas, versus Baylor. Get your popcorn ready for August 30th. Blast the Bobcats! 1
Charles Fischer Administrator No. 6 Share Posted Monday at 03:36 PM Jon....GREAT stuff as always, and while I hoped that Oregon might sneak up on people this year--I acknowledge that those days are now past. Last year was the "surprise tour," and as you said--our schedule is perfect for doing well. But I have to think that Ohio State is reloading well too, so we have some great games ahead of us. This will be a monster game... 1 1 3 Mr. FishDuck

As a fellow writer--I can attest to the boatload of time it takes to create an article like Jon's...and yet he keeps writing as if they were easy. 1 3 Mr. FishDuck
