Potential Return to The Big Ten Championship Game!?

Featured Replies

I hadn't thought of this idea until now, if we manage to beat Washington, we'll finish with a 11-1 record, but most people are projecting us to play a home playoff game if that happens, and personally that's the situation I hope for, but there's something that could screw those plans, and that is the Ohio State vs. Michigan game, if Ryan Day were to choke against the Wolverines once again combined with an Oregon win, we'll play against Indiana in the Big Ten Championship Game due to various tiebreaker stuff that would end up on our "favor"

Personally I'd prefer for both us and Ohio State to win their last games of the season, so we'll take a rest and either Ohio State or Indiana get exposed in that extra game, but if we make it to Indy, it'll be quite awful if we once again lose to the Hoosiers, albeit I'd imagine it could be something similar to the 2014 team, which lost a home game only to get revenge on the team that beat them during the regular season.

If that happens I’m willing to bet DL will have Oregon far more ready in a rematch with Indy.

I don't want to get in the conference championship game. Right now we only get in if Ohio State loses which would mean a rematch with Indiana which I think would be fine as I think we could cook something up for a rematch.

But I would rather have time for the team to get healthy for a playoff game at Autzen.

How about NO!

Play the 13th game in Autzen on 12/19 or 20 and not vs. Indiana in Indianapolis.

Of course, it could happen, but if WRs Smith and Tate are good to go, Michigan will not defeat Ohio State.

OBD needs the time off to get guys healthy.

Hey Thomas, did you see the latest projection where if things remain the same, Alabama would travel to Autzen for the first round of the Playoffs? Your wish would be granted…

First of all, Washington looks like a complete and well coached team tonight, although UCLA looked like a clown show.

Second, too many Oregon players are banged up and need the rest and rehab.

Third, Oregon does not need a rematch with Indiana - that would be brutal and more injuries could result.

Fourth, with a 12 team playoff, and no longer conf champs getting 1st round byes, winning the conf champ game is good for another trophy, but bad for business down the road.

That is the logical part. Now the entertainment part: the conf champ games are great and no other real college football that weekend. It is better to determine a conf champ by playing a game than to just go by records. And, a conf championship is still something of an accomplishment that doesn't happen to any team each and every year.

The conf champions should always get a higher seed for playing and winning that game, unless they are in a sucky conference and play a mediocre team.

I don't like the bye week in the playoffs. I'd rather go to 16 and let the conf champions host a first round home game. That would give teams an incentive to get there and win it (the conf champ game).

Michigan might play OSU pretty tough for a while? Beating them would be their superbowl.

That B1G Title game will be pointless if it's Indiana vs Ohio State imo. Both will get byes if they make it there. Let's go to the play in model Petitti proposed.

Personally I'd rather see Michigan vs Oregon, USC vs Washington in two weeks. In the SEC we could get Ole Miss vs Vanderbilt, and Georgia vs Oklahoma. That would incentivize being in the top 2 of both big boy conferences. If Ohio State loses vs Michigan, they could drop to a play in, which would guarantee Oregon a playoff spot. We could even get a rematch between Ohio State and Michigan the next week to see who gets in the playoff.

Give the top four seeds a home playoff, that would further make being in the top two a reward.

So many great comments and thoughts on this thread. Love this fun forum!

I hope OBD's does not make the title game. If the end goal is to win the Natty then the Ducks need to make the CFP, first.......

So, lets beat the huskies first. Depending on O line injuries the task may be a little more difficult. The Ducks have depth and depth with talent, so OBD's needs to keep the huskies D off balance. Dominate the trenches for sure and win.

The Buckeyes defense just slammed the door on the huskies offense when they played.. I expect the Duck D to do the same and take the pressure off the O.

Then we need rest and healing for all the players before the 19th or 20th. We do not need an added game! Let' meet IU in the playoffs..........

The committee needs another statement game by OBD's to give them a reason to have 3 BIG teams in the playoff. So tOSU and IU need to win out and battle for the title. That game is in the best interest of the BIG, the final rankings and seedings and OBD's.

Handle the puppies and OBD's gets home cooked meals until they leave for the 2nd round games on New Years.

Go Ducks....it's all on the line this Saturday!
