I know, I know, you think Conzano is a Beaver honk, so you turn off at the sight of his name. I don't. Been a John Conzano subscriber for years, ignoring any perceived loyalties, and just enjoying an experienced sports news guy who has a heart. This interview, linked below, I hope, shows why Conzano is one of the most outstanding communicators in sports today. Enjoy!

Isn’t the essence of a great interview putting the focus on the subject while the person asking the questions fades into the background? Like a well-officiated basketball game, you don’t notice the referees.

For Canzano, the emphasis is "look who I got for my show" as opposed to content - sometimes which can be silly.

Not sure why Lanning decided to make time - and it's not just the 20 minute interview, more time is required - during game week preparation. A couple times he even looked like silly questions were an irritant. It's not the first time he's been down that road with Oprah Canzano.

I don't think he cares about any person or team in sports. I think he simply like to muck it up to get subscribers. What I am saying is that I find him to be entirely made of artifice and thus I avoid his work. I actually shudder when I turn on Steve Tannen at 3 and accidentally hear Clownzano's voice instead.

I never thought of him as a Beavis honk as much as a driving narrative to preserve himself honk. My lack of regard stems from how frequently he’s just flat out wrong with his “scoops”. I swear I have better connections than he does.

Love Canzano…….been a subscriber ever since he went solo a couple of years ago. Love his stuff, especially the human interest stories. To those who feel he leans toward the Beavers, maybe so. But that does that disqualify from being a good columnist?

I truly believe that he covers Oregon superbly, and has given us quite a bit of it inside information that other sources have not at times. But I also believe that since his daughter went to Oregon State, he is very much an apologist for them. Well that, and he wants to retain all of the orange subscribers that he has… And that explains quite a bit of how he will appear to write something that almost appears to be anti-Oregon. He willingly feeds into their wacko conspiracies and delusions, and often attempts to reinforce them.

But as you know, I have brought a lot of his stuff to the forum over the past year that has been entertaining or informative. So when I get his email, if it is about Oregon… I read it. If it is about Beavis, I delete it, but in the end, he gives more than enough value as an Oregon subscriber. And he admitted to me by email years back, that he will “stir the pot” and write things that will catch my and other fans ire.
