Friday at 01:52 PM1 day No. Campbell is reportedly Penn State’s new top target now. I’ll laugh if he signs an extension with Iowa Sate…https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/penn-state-matt-campbell-head-coach-iowa-state/ Edited Friday at 01:58 PM1 day by OregonDucks
Friday at 03:19 PM1 day No. He's a good coach who has gone under the radar for a while now because he didn't jump ship from Iowa State the first chance he got. He'd be a good get for Penn State if it happens. I also wouldn't be surprised if he stays put.
Friday at 04:18 PM1 day Moderator No. Hey, Matt Campbell! You may be the last guy in line, but there could be some soup left?If you do aim to stay in Ames, do you know any quality flag football coaches?Your Buddy, Pat (I ain't that good at my) Kraft
Friday at 05:03 PM1 day Moderator No. Even if you get it right for the wrong reason, you're still right.Campbell has done more with less, no doubt. But I thought PSU was looking for a guy to do more with more?https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2025/12/05/penn-states-coaching-search-matt-campbell-hire-james-franklin/87615387007/?utm_source=usat-path-to-playoff-nletter76&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=sportsgreeting&utm_term

He’s used to getting his 3-star recruits and developing them into a Big 12 contender. Penn State expects top 10 classes with blue chip recruits. Campbell is going to have to battle guys like Day, Lanning, Riley and Moore for the big names.I will also add that James Franklin is going to use his relationships to steal Campbell’s recruits any chance he gets. If Franklin starts winning the ACC then Penn State is going to have to fight a two front war to keep their best players in state. Now, Campbell can choose to go the Curt Cignetti route, but if he so much as loses 3 games the torches and pitchforks are going to make an appearance. They might give him a season to get right, but then it’s time to beat the big boys. He won’t make it past year three if he doesn’t beat Ohio State at least once.
Friday at 07:14 PM1 day Moderator No. Matt Campbell has a good thing going at ISU, not sure why he would consider Penn St after all those other candidates passed on them. There's something wrong with the PSU football program and/or AD.
Friday at 07:18 PM1 day No. Something wrong??? It starts at the top, and I think it's name is something like 'Batty' Kraft...
Yesterday at 07:40 AM1 day No. Why doesn't Penn State just go after Willie Taggart??? Why not? They don't want a good coach with integrity. We just saw that. If Campbell does go to Penn St, he just might be the next Willie Taggart. Penn St and LSU are the two worst coaching openings out there. Why? Because they are expected to be like Ohio ST and Alabama, but are more like Washington or Tennessee. No way anybody can succeed there. Get paid and get bood and get kicked out and take a money bag with you. You get rich but lose all respect and your career is in the trash and your name is mud. You know who might do well at Penn St AND be very dangerous... Chip Kelly. Think about it. He was great at Oregon with Oregon's reputation, recruiting and resources. He couldn't wake up a dead body at UCLA, but nobody else could either. Chip guided Ohio St to a championship as OC. He can still coach. You put a Chip Kelly offense with Penn State's defense and linemen and athletes, you have a team that can compete with the big boys.

Oregon, Washington, USC, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio St, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, can all beat Penn St. Penn St used to kind of be top tier in the conference because there were only two good teams before. Now, they have clearly dropped a level. They should have went with some young, hip, urban hot recruiter who was an assistant at a named program. Now they are just going to try to win with 3 star guys.
