January 7, 20223 yr In a word, yes. Totally neutered and when they weren't enforcement was entirely inconsistent. College football is a mess at least partially because the NCAA clung to power way too long even though the NIL writing was on the wall.
January 7, 20223 yr Moderator Thanks for the great article, Annie, and appropriately it's from Forbes, a magazine that deals with finance. The problem with the NCAA is that it sat around doing nothing about the issues that the players were talking about. When it finally did take action, it's to get rid of the transfer rule about players having to sit out a year? Now the NIL has resulted in chaos that needs to have some kind of structure and its past record doesn't indicate that the NCAA is up to the task.

January 7, 20223 yr Moderator CFB wise the Supreme Court decision in the Alston case did CFB wise neuter the NCAA, Now will the respective conferences attempt to control NIL and attempt to control open free agency vis the portal. Can they if they even desire to do so, put rules into place that will withstand legal review?
