Lanning talks about "havoc rate" for his defense and why time spent on campus won't be a defining factor in their playing time.

Another thing I think he is speaking to is if you don't have the right attitude you can be replaced. Coach Lanning wants his attitude on the field and just because you were a starter or are talented doesn't mean you will play. Which players can adhere to what Coach Lanning wants to see in his players, freshman or seniors. It might be harder for a senior to adjust to?

Again I believe this shows his base philosophy of it's what you do that matters, nothing else.
