Now, I don't have USC's depth chart in front of me, but there's a pretty good chance that Conerly would be starting in game 1 for USC. Could be why they're so upset.

Oregon has a number of returning starters on the offensive line this year, but Lanning knows that Josh Conerly is coming to Eugene...

U win some u lose some.

Conerly came into the program knowing he is not a starter game 1. Nice backup to have for sure. He will start some games. Lineman don't go unscathed all season. My bet is he will play in every game

At 278 pounds I doubt that he would start at tackle for any 'big time' program? By delaying his commitment he knew he wouldn't be able to be on campus for spring football.

I think he is well aware that he needs a season f bulking up. If he wanted to start as a true frosh, why choose Oregon with an experienced OL?

I think Conerly continues to make the smart long play.

Guaranteed starting position = not a very good team.
