Tandaian No. 1 Share Posted June 20 Just WR, not WR and TE. Ranking the Pac-12’s wide receiver rooms going into 2022 season SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM There’s a clear No. 1, but for the rest of the league, it’s a big toss-up as the receiver depth reloads. Goutes18 No. 2 Share Posted June 20 Interesting to look at it that way. I agree that usc looks to have a scary good group at WR and the Ducks have a lot of talent and are right up there - even though they don’t have as much experience. If the o-line holds up they will be as good as any group. Utah has had a weak group at WR and it seems fair that they are near the bottom with Covey gone. It is all about the TE’s for them, but at some point better defenses will be able to adjust to that if the receivers don’t get better.
ICamel Moderator No. 3 Share Posted June 20 #2 from that writer's perspective! "MariØ CristØbal’s slow-churn offense handcuffed the wideouts." "This is, however, an awfully high ranking for a group that has proven next to nothing. Hopefully a better plan of attack from the new staff can justify it." Unless we get fooled again, I don't think "hopefully" will apply.

As I posted in the similar thread, all I needed to see was the second half of the bowl game and the Spring Game to know that the scheme was issue, not the roster. I think the exciting thing for Utah fans is that you have your QB, and I think he's the type that comes around once every 5-10 years that really elevates a program; almost makes the skill position talent less relevant because he will also elevate whoever is there. Rising reminds me of Dennis Dixon and Mariota in that regard; just a natural at it. Pretty sure the WR's that played with Dixon and Mariota never went on to have very successful NFL careers. These type of QB's (IMO including Rising) have the right combination of arm talent, decision making, athleticism, instincts, knowledge of the playbook, experience, etc. that they "pop" when you watch them and the team. Now, as a Duck fan (and BYU fan), I must say Rising provides me much consternation, but for whatever an outsider's opinion is worth to you, you've got a really good one in Rising which will enable the WRs to play above their ranking; and if the WRs are diamonds in the rough (i.e. super talented but overlooked), all the better. 1
