30Duck No. 1 Share Posted March 1, 2021 Oregon's freshman point guard missed season ending game against Oregon State, and the team certainly missed her, as the Beavers won. Now it appears the 4th seeded Ducks will have to find their way in the Pac-12 Tournament without her, hoping she'll be ready for the NCAA Tournament. From NBC Sports Northwest. Charles Fischer Administrator No. 2 Share Posted March 1, 2021 I am still surprised that with all the guard experience--that the team couldn't have still flourished and won games as the men did without Richardson. There are so many issues with this team--this is not a welcome addition to the list... Mr. FishDuck
Orebcker No. 3 Share Posted March 1, 2021 The guard experience was definitely NOT on display yesterday. Starters Chavez & Shelly were a combined 0-5 shooting, zero total points, 28 minutes between the two. UCLA exposed our lack of speed and quickness at the guard position as evidenced by their full court double teaming. OSU's guards were brilliant with their back door cuts. Ducks back off in response thus opening up uncontested threes for the Beavs. How we miss the speed (and fire) of Minyon, Maite and Sabrina. By the way anyone know what's up with Kylee Watson? 6-4, top 20 national yet for the most part is MIA this season.

There are some who would say that most of the 5 highly rated recruits have been pretty much MIA this season. Also KG said this could be his best shooting team ever. Stats don't back that up either. Clearly having their issues with shooting. I would argue that maybe with the corona virus and all that this team is not in that good of physical shape as well which effects your legs and that effects your shooting. Let's hope this was an aberration year all the way around. Outside of Sedona and Nyara, I haven't been that impressed by any of the others on a consistent basis. I know I'm spoiled with the loss of the goat and her 2 running mates... GO Ducks!!!
Jon Sousa No. 5 Share Posted March 2, 2021 Rebuilding. Five 5-star recruits do not a championship team make in their freshmen year. One thing we have to remember is that if Oregon was in a different conference, we wouldn't be looking at so many losses. Before last Sunday, Oregon had only lost to top 10 teams. The problem and the advantage that Oregon has is playing in this conference. Its a problem because you lose more games in a rebuilding year you look and feel worse than you are. It's a blessing because every year Oregon gets to play against a lot of top tier teams, which can only help them in the Dance. Oregon State is a very good team with a very good coach. They are also normally in the upper stratosphere of teams. It is no shame to lose to OSU. Oregon is sitting at 13-7. If they are in a different conference they would be sitting 19-1, ranked perhaps 2 or 3, and unfortunately not at all battle tested for entering the Dance. We fans would be expecting a final 4 and we would no doubt be very disappointed and wondering how they could fall apart at the end of the year. Much better for everyone on the team to be in this conference, sitting at 13-7, with a realistic view of where they stand nationally. It helps everyone involved to work harder and strive to be their best selves. Where do they stand nationally? Realistically, I think somewhere between 7 and 12.

Graves mentioned a while back that this team closely resembles Sabrina and Ruthie's freshman team. The major difference being that team didn't have to follow the best Women's basketball team in the country! Add to that, the "Fab 5" recruiting class. As much as even Oregon fans appreciated these were kids, the comparison to the team from last season couldn't help but seep in as we watched them play the teams that lusted after revenge for the way Oregon had treated them the last 3 years. This team won't make the Final Four, but like the team did in 2016-17, it will get better. Much better.
