Ducks Lose 10-6 to Beavis...
Ducks lose 10-6. So many gifts by the pitchers...seven walks and four plinked batters. Eleven bases given without even hitting the ball?
-
Ducks Lose 10-6 to Beavis...
10-6 Beavis after eight innings. I admit...I was not watching closely at all--I have a hard time when we're getting our butts kicked. But we got some runners and a grounder scored one, and Angel Laya hit a triple off the wall to score another. That guy is quite the athlete...fast!

Ducks Lose 10-6 to Beavis...
10-3 Beavis after seven innings. So we gave freshman pitcher Shane Johnson a shot. Whoops! This must be like how Beavis feels in football Civil Wars?

Ducks Lose 10-6 to Beavis...
7-3 Beavis after six innings. We change pitchers to freshman Josh Hollis, but not much changed for Oregon. Drew Smith walked and the Angel Laya nailed a low pitch and put it over the CF fense to score two!
-
Ducks Lose 10-6 to Beavis...
5-1 Beavis after five innings. Michael Meckna just gave up his first earned runs of the year. Too many of them... Oregon offense is stagnant.
-
Ducks Lose 10-6 to Beavis...
2-1 Beavis after four innings. Oregon brings in Michael Meckna, another improved sophomore pitcher. He looked good for two batters, then got shaky with a walk and a plinked batter, and then struck out one of OSU's better batters. Oregon strands two...again.

Thank You Jedd Fisch
It's always a good day when Calipari loses by thirty four points🤣.
-
Ducks Lose 10-6 to Beavis...
2-1 Beavis after three innings. Miles Gosztola gave up a HR, and a double that scored a runner. I cannot help but think about how much of the 30 million Oregon State stole from Oregon is funding the program we are playing?

Ducks Lose 10-6 to Beavis...
1-0 Ducks after two innings. Miles Gosztola gave up a double, but created ground-outs to keep them scoreless. Drew Smith made and incredible scoop at 3rd base to prevent a run!

Great points Jon. I see where you're coming at, I really do. Players are the most important thing. If you don't have a Jimmy that can throw the ball, or Joe that can make that goalline stop in the fourth. You could have the maestro of play callers, and it would be the same as having Larry, Curly Joe, and Moe. But....... If you're renovating your house, and you have to decide between fixing the leaky roof, or the faulty wiring. You need to get more money. Of course housing safety codes are more important than football team costs, but in both instances you need to address everything. If Washington is able to find someone who is able to pay Demond Williams five million a year, and they were willing to pay to keep Deboer. I believe they can find the money to find a guy to oversee calling half of a ballgame, and giving the head coach more time to oversee everything. I think it's a Jedd Fisch decision, just like it was a Billy Napier decision. Napier brought in the largest support staff in the SEC, but he never wanted to give up any say in the offense, and it showed. Especially with the development of any quarterback, DJ Lagway regressed from his true freshman year to his sophomore season. The defense actually went from a weakness to a strength. But Billy wouldn't ever entertain changing things up. His offense worked in the Sun Belt, and it was going to work in the SEC. Meanwhile, there were several major issues not being addressed like the Strength and conditioning, offensive line, and QB coach. Jon Sumrall has spoken candidly about the glaring issues he saw when he first came on board. Oddly enough, he said the parking lot was one of the nicest he's seen. If you want further proof that maybe even Napier learned a lesson. In his introductory press conference as the new JMU head coach, he quickly stated how he was going to be handing off play calling duties at JMU. To me, it's not a monetary issue. Especially at these places in the B1G or SEC. It's about what the head coach feels comfortable with. If Jedd Fisch wanted to, he could find a guy. But he probably thinks there isn't somebody who can do the job better than himself.

Reliving the Glory Days of Oregon Ducks Football
Great stuff, but up to the final act, these are the days. Whoever has taken over for Willie S, someone please tell him that all of the heroes dying in the final scene is not necessary. SEE: The Hoosiers - Gene and Cig versions. Live from Las Vegas, will we be watching OBD hit The B1G Natty Trifecta Jackpot on 1/25/27? 👌👍🦆😍 Danno, get 'er done.

Ducks Lose 10-6 to Beavis...
1-0 Ducks after one inning. I was surprised to see Miles Gosztola starting, and he got three outs in three batters. He plinked one, but then picked him off in a hot-box between first and second. Ryan Cooney smashed one to the mound, and it bounced forward into CF for a hit. Dominic Hellman was plinked, and then Maddox Molony hit one deep to LF to score Cooney. (Stranded two on base)

I'll add a couple. Spring game '70, a freshman QB (frosh weren't eligible at that time) no one heard of threw a 50+ yd dime. Welcome to Autzen Dan Fouts. UCLA early '70s, Leland Glass caused two UCLA jockstraps to be left on the filed as he duked two DBs into each other. And I previously posted the way to stop OJ . . .

Spot on, Gat, thanks. Is it better to invest millions of dollars in a play-caller or in picking the portal? Ohio State won a title with a $6 million Chip. But Chip and the O no-showed in a close home game win vs. Nebraska and disappeared in the loss to Michigan, and only reached its potential when the players told Day to open things up. (Where were these guys before Brutus was blown away by the Hurricanes in the Cotton Bowl?) Again, I agree with all of your points, but how big is the football budget in Seattle? I imagine it's millions of dollars less than the budget in Columbus? I hope Jon Sumrall is the answer for your Gators. The schedule is not easy by any means. Whoever calls the plays for UF will not have to be all that wise to defeat the FAU Owls, or get over the Campbell Camels' hump, but then? At Auburn, Ole Miss, at Mizzou, South Carolina, and at Texas. Whew! After a needed week off, it's on to the Cocktail Party versus UGA, followed by Oklahoma, before playing Will Stein and Kentucky in Lexington, then Vanderbilt, and at FSU. Welcome to the SEC, Mr. Sumrall, and have a really nice day. 😁

Ducks Lose 10-6 to Beavis...
We have gone from five Civil War games a year to three. One at each home location, and one in Portland which I think is great for fans of both schools in the Portland Metro area. It is a touch harder to refer to Oregon State Baseball as Beavis, since they have earned my respect in that sport. Last year they finished No. 4 in the nation, but lost a ton of players off that team and are in a getting-it-together mode this season with a 6-4 record. They are ranked No. 18 in the nation on D1 Baseball, and Oregon is yet unranked with them. Oregon State has not beaten anyone ranked, and lost to No. 11 Southern Miss, and the other three losses were to unranked teams. But their schedule to date is harder than ours, so we cannot use records as any indicator. They split games with Michigan, beat Iowa, and lost a game to Purdue? (Who we play a series at on Friday) I was wondering why Ryan Featherston was only used for one inning in the first game of the series, when he has an ERA of 0.00 between his start and relief innings? Then I saw the schedule and realized that he is probably the starter today vs. Oregon State. (We sure could have used him in the Irvine game we lost!) Ryan Featherston

2027 Recruitment, Announcements, Interviews, Etc. (3)
Oregon Ducks predicted to flip 5-star CB from Georgia BulldogsAfter three straight top-5 ranked recruiting classes, Lanning is setting the Ducks up for yet another elite signing class in 2027, and it looks like he might take one of the Bulldogs' prized recruits to do so. On Tuesday, multiple predictions from national college football recruiting analysts dropped for Oregon to flip 5-star cornerback Donte Wright, who has been committed to Georgia since June of 2025. On3's Greg Biggings, Steve Wiltfong, and Adam Gorney all placed predictions for the Ducks to pull off the flip, with a decision expected in early summer. https://duckswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/ducks/recruiting/2026/03/03/oregon-football-donte-wright-georgia-flip-prediction/88961684007/
