  2. Until this transfer portal situation gets cleared up, I can't look at a roster until August and be convinced all the guys on the roster will be season long contributors. An injury to a key starter at a place like Oregon, Ohio State or Georgia would make me nervous if I was a Washington State or Beavis. Washington State has lost it's last two starters at QB in Ward and Mateer. Lane Kiffin has lived in the portal. FSU tried to do the same but old stone faced Norvell butchered it. How can I get excited for a recruiting or transfer class when nothing is set in stone? Until guidelines are put in place and a commitment is a commitment. I will put little faith in class rankings unless it's at a few select places where the coach and program are at a point where you can't transfer to a better situation like Oregon, Georgia or Ohio State. How long until we see trades? Imagine Planning giving up a future scholarship to Alabama or Texas for a starting CB before a playoff run.
  3. Yeah, I am very worried about that series against Iowa, they're a good team, it's on the road, it's going to be tough. It would be one thing if Iowa was a top 25 team but they're non-con schedule was so abysmal they aren't ranked even though they're top of the conference for the moment. Can't do anything about it though other than keep winning.
  4. This is why I said it's going to be very difficult to get a top 8 bid in this conference unless the conference significantly improves. You just have too many bad teams and not enough good teams, it's hard to win every game, and when you do lose to a mediocre team who played a bad schedule it just tanks your RPI. It's not Oregon's fault, and while I do understand why they aren't a top 8 seed, I still think they deserve better than 16. Looks like they will have to play an absolute monster of a non-conference schedule in the future. We don't even have the advantage of playing a rival in OSU who is good. It's sort of like Gonzaga in basketball.
  5. From an article by Crepea at the RG: "Oregon entered Selection Sunday No. 17 in adjusted RPI and No. 18 in RPI. Two teams ahead of it in RPI did not receive national seeds while two teams behind it did and it came down to Oregon and Stanford for which got the last hosting opportunity . . . UO went 5-1 against RPI top 25 teams this season, tied for the fewest high-caliber wins among the 16 regional hosts, and 28-3 against teams outside the RPI top 100, tied for the most bad losses among those same teams. Oregon’s nonconference strength of schedule (157) was 15th among the 16 regional hosts."
  6. Thank You, NJ! I note that OBD is not leading the recruiting rankings for the 2026 class. This ranking matters on signing day in December, period. Today, OBD is No.4 in the average ranking of 2026 recruits 'committed' to Dan and the program. With the transfer portal available for plugging holes on a contender's roster, a cumulative ranking, like this one from ESPN, matters today, not just in December. Follow the $$$ - 12 SEC teams and 7 B1G Teams are in ESPN's top 25. 7 of last season's 12 PO teams, including Boise State, will have a new starter at QB in 2025.

  8. Good to see Oregon State at No. 7 to further justify Oregon's No. 5 position with D1Baseball, while UCLA is No. 14, and we are the only B1G teams in the top-25 in the D1Baseball rankings. At Baseball America...Oregon is No. 9, while Oregon State is No. 11, and UCLA No. 20. Why such a difference...I do not know. Oregon's RPI has climbed to No. 19 with both RPI ranking services, and we got a boost from Oregon State at No. 6. This is the highest our RPI has been all season, and we could get another boost if the Ducks were to sweep Iowa this weekend. I am feeling good about an NCAA Baseball Regional, but not so much for a Super-Regional at this point. Still waiting on the other polls... Anson Aroz
  9. While annual College Football Playoff contenders like Georgia, Alabama and Ohio State are ace recruiters, elite recruiting isn't the only path to becoming a top program. The transfer portal has changed how programs build rosters. Some schools go all-in every offseason to overhaul their rosters through the portal, while others use the portal to add depth to a position or target major transfers who could take a team from great to national champion. And now that spring football and the spring transfer portal period are over, we can look at the best groups of newcomers. When looking at modern roster development, it's important to consider the combination of recruiting class and success in the portal. This ranking is the top 25 groups of newcomers -- recruits and transfers combined -- based on who could see the most impactful immediate returns for 2025. 1. Oregon Ducks In 2024, freshman receivers Jeremiah Smith (Ohio State) and Ryan Williams (Alabama) made immediate impacts. Moore, a five-star prospect, looks like the next breakout star at the position. Moore has elite big-play speed, runs excellent routes and has a high football IQ and fierce competitive demeanor. All of those tools can make him a featured target right away for a playoff contender that lost three of its top four pass-catchers from 2024. Defensively, Offord and McNutt are players to watch. They were both versatile two-way players in high school and bring strong playmaking skills to Oregon's secondary. With the Ducks needing to reload on the back end, both have a strong chance to contribute in Year 1. Top transfers: RB Makhi Hughes, OL Isaiah World, OL Emmanuel Pregnon, S Dillon Thieneman, CB Theran Johnson, DT Bear Alexander, OL Alex Harkey, TE Jamari Johnson. Fresh off a Big Ten title, Oregon signed a top-five recruiting class and an elite group of transfers as it prepares for another national title run. Signing Offord was helpful for the Ducks when his half-brother, running back Makhi Hughes, entered the portal. Hughes was one of the top transfers available after running for nearly 3,000 yards at Tulane. He should help replace 1,000-yard rusher Jordan James in Oregon's backfield. To help open running lanes, the Ducks pulled several offensive line starters out of the portal. Both World and Pregnon are poised to anchor the left side of the offensive line. Thieneman was a top-25 portal prospect who brings Big Ten experience from Purdue and looks like a plug-and-play addition. Oregon also pulled out several other transfers who, at a minimum, should provide quality depth and play contributing roles. Combining prep talent with great transfers is key in college football and these teams did it best.
  10. This was a pivotal week across the country in college baseball. The stakes were obviously high, and there are a ton of changes in D1Baseball’s latest top 25 rankings as we shift into the final week of the regular season. 5. Oregon Previous Ranking: No. 5 Weekly Record: 5-0 Overall Record: 38-13 (19-8 in Big Ten) Oregon’s week got underway with a pair of midweek victories against Saint Mary’s, 6-3 on Tuesday and 8-1 on Wednesday. They then hosted a Washington team fighting to get into the postseason over the weekend, and might have crushed their hopes. The Ducks won 5-0 on Friday and 6-4 on Saturday to clinch the series, and 5-3 to finish the sweep on Sunday. College Baseball Rankings: New No. 1 headlines changes to D1Baseball Top 25 - On3 WWW.ON3.COM The final week of college baseball's regular season is upon us, and D1Baseball has made some big changes to their latest top 25 rankings.
  11. This is the way it should have been all season, but they got it right for Oregon's clutch series. BTW...Iowa lost two games to Oregon State this last weekend, and they finished in a mutual tie (6-6) in the third. Thursday Game: 4:00 PM PST, FS1 (Fox Sports One) Friday Game: 4:00 PM PST, BTN (Big-10 Network) Saturday Game: 10:00 AM PST, BTN (Big-10 Network) Oregon trails Iowa by two games, and only if we sweep can we overtake them. We need Northwestern to take a game off UCLA this weekend as well, so let the excitement begin! Ryan Cooney stops a steal!

  12. I don't think teams decide to win or lose games. What if both teams decide to win, or lose the same game? Nothing about this year's team showed complacency or arrogance. In the series that ended the regular season, after a year as good as any pitcher in the country, Grein struggled. Sokolsky came in and cleaned it up. Sokolsky got the start against Michigan in the Playoff. Michigan won the tournament last year. Oregon's pitchers struggled again. It happens. Michigan would go on to win the championship. Beating UCLA, who Oregon beat 2 out of 3, this season. Michigan made play after play in the field against Oregon. They deserved the win. But I don't think that Oregon, with as many wins as No.1 Texas A & M, deserved to be No.16. I believe if the decision is theirs, the Lady Ducks will definitely win the Regional.
  13. 5-star OT Immanuel Iheanacho makes major recruiting change; Oregon Football stands to gain 5-star OT Immanuel Iheanacho makes major recruiting change; Oregon Football stands to gain DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM 5-star OT Immanuel Iheanacho changed his recruiting schedule and made a big announcement that likely benefits the Oregon Ducks.
  14. Oregon Ducks Surge In Recruiting Rankings After 5-Star Richard Wesley Commitment The Oregon Ducks have been missing out on key recruits, but Ducks coach Dan Lanning landed a commitment from five-star EDGE Richard Wesley. His commitment pushed Oregon back towards the top of the recruiting rankings and could help turn the momentum back in their favor. 16. Hey, we are now in the lower-level (minor league) pro football days where 75% of the rosters are majoring in Football and everything else is a nuisance that is tolerated to stay eligible. I don't think the performance of paid athletes has any real implications for the quality of educations that universities provide for their general student bodies anymore.

  19. I feel your pain. I haven't gotten involved in any of the Sanders discussions because, quite frankly, they don't interest me. I do think it is possible, when these articles come out, to only discuss how DG is doing. The QB competition will all come out in the wash, and at least one of the two will make the 53 man roster.
  20. According to the seedings the committee felt Oregon would have been the 10th best team in the SEC and the 4th best team in the ACC. Personally, I think that is BS. Oregon went 5-1 against #5 FSU (2-0), #7 Tennessee (1-0) and #9 UCLA (2-1). FSU and Tennessee couldn't even score a run against the Ducks. Oregon deserved a much higher seed.
  21. Punishing a team for losing one game and going from around 7-5 or so in the rankings to 16 seems excessive to me. If Oregon was in the SEC they would have dropped like 2 spots or so. Of course you want to win every game, but it's one game against a team that eventually won the tournament, they got hot apparently at the right time, it just seems ridiculous to me when you have the 8 seed with 15 losses to Oregon's 7.
  22. Spartan2785, If a team and its' coaching staff want to be ranked highly, then win when expected and when unexpected, regardless of conference. Just because our Lady Ducks team beat Michigan softball three times when we played them, that is no guarantee of a win in the conference tournament. I believe UM beat UCLA in the conference finals. UM recognized the way into the NCAA Tourney (for them) was to win the BIG tourney, and they did! That same freeway was wide open for our Lady Ducks; they chose through their Prep and play the off-ramp. That was a terrible decision! But, they chose it! Now, let's see whether they can get out of their own regional tourney and win a super regional. Then, forget about the world series, and just making it there. Prepare to play to win it! If they play as a team, this team could win it. Thanks and VR, KCDuck1
  23. System designed for a different era, up there with bowl games imo.
