  6. What if I told you I believe the best thing to do for the game is keep the current playoff format? What if certain changes enhances interest in the game? I agree with Jon. I don’t believe the playoffs will expand. I believe the pool will increase, and specific changes will make the regular season count like never before. I believe ESecPN will agree to the changes. I believe the B1G will as well. I could be completely wrong, but just before the season, I will explain my reasons why. Some of this hinges on what ultimately happens between the schools and the players, because like Jon, I don’t believe the House settlement will solve the NIL/Portal issues completely. It’s a great time to be alive. The P2 might be waking up to reality.

  15. Tony, Ohio State had 14 players drafted, one short of the record 15 held by Georgia. I'm sure the Ohio State culture had much to do with the Buckeyes winning the national championship. However, large NIL payments to players who were draft-eligible in 2024 also helped. No offense, but what was your take on the Buckeyes culture the day after the 4th straight loss to Michigan? Ohio State was fortunate to have the chance to overcome the loss, and hats off to Ohio State for a tremendous PO run.
  16. More on The Power 2 Dominating the Draft Tuesdays with Gorney: NFL Draft proves Power Two is here to stay SPORTS.YAHOO.COM Penn State defensive end Abdul Carter was selected third overall in the 2025 NFL Draft.
  17. WR Trebor Pena transferring from Syracuse to Penn State will help the Nits at a position of need. Pena was 2nd team All-ACC last season. 84 catches, 941 yards, 9 TDs. Penn State's $2 million portal pickup gives them a 'real case' to open as top team in nation WWW.SPORTINGNEWS.COM Penn State just added to an impressive portal class with Trebor Pena, giving them a huge chance to start as the No. 1 team in the country. Like Michigan in 2023 and Ohio State in 2024, PSU has opened its NIL wallet to keep quality draft-eligible players on board and pick up players from the portal to fill positions of need. And picking up DC Jim Knowles also took opening up the wallet. OBD plays two Blue Chip Roster teams in 2025, USC in Eugene and PSU on the road. https://247sports.com/article/oregon-ducks-football-trip-to-penn-state-football-season-defining-espn-245899164/ GO DUCKS!
  18. And now I see 15 Buckeyes were drafted into the NFL. What a lesson. What a year for the Buckeyes!
  19. I think the 4-4-2-2-1-1 format would be great if it were accompanied with a conference post season pitting 1 vs 8 2 vs 7 etc with the winners of those match ups moving on to the playoffs. That way 8th place teams in the power 2 conferences still have a path to the playoffs as would 4th place teams in the B12 and ACC. That would also mean even lower ranked teams would be in contention for that final spot late into the season. This would provide that March Madness type magic that keeps basketball riveting without expanding the playoffs that much. If a 5-8 ranked team in a conference can't win a road game to make the playoffs, then they wouldn't deserve to be in the playoffs anyway. If they can't get that win on their home field, then that higher seeded team showed that they didn't really deserve that spot as well. This system seems perfect to me and I really hope it happens at some point. As for conference champions, that could be declared after the highest seeded team in the conference playoffs wins. If one loses to eight and two loses to seven but three defeats six, then that's the conference champ for that year. This seems like the best path forward to me both in entertainment value (highest viewing ratings possible) as well as for fairness to all the teams in the conferences. This format could help keep conferences from getting too top heavy (same 2-3 teams at the top every year) and let even average teams feel as though they still have a shot.
