  2. Maybe if OSU or WSU could recruit the grandson of Lloyd "All World" Free (76ers) there could be a new "World" on the Pacific Coast? Otherwise, not so much.
  3. Gotta love the innovation!
  4. I can't decide, as I've had all three reactions when I see John Canzano desperately trying to sell the public on the "New-World" conference. The worst was recently when he wrote of how the new schedule style of the Pac-12 teams in 2026 "will enhance the "New-World Pac-12" chances at the Playoffs." What? Within your audience, John...to which are you referring to Washington State, or Oregon State? Dream on... My first reaction was a laugh (Hilarious) then I shuddered for John writing it, (Cringy) and then I shook my head at his pathetic pandering to his audience. (Delusional) We are going to hear it all-the-time, and I'm curious as to how it hits you?
  5. Ill say this I would rather had the Ducks play Notre Dame for 2 reasons--1 TV ratings---2 Recruitment. Not so much for a 4 loss sec team.

  7. Ducks win 11-1 for the sweep. Fun to see another transfer pitcher, Luke Morgan, originally from Grants Pass, and a sophomore from Lassen C.C. near Redding. He has a 92 mph fastball, and BIG curve that will be fun to watch. And he kept the Patriots scoreless! Love the retro unis!
  8. 11-1 Ducks after eight innings. We got a chance to see senior transfer from Western Oregon University, Devin Bell, who stands at 6'4" and has a 96 mph fastball. He was 6-3 in eleven starts last year for the Wolves, and had an amazing 2.39 ERA. He also had a great curve/drop ball that finished off the inning easily. Good looking stuff there... Transfer Josh Schleichardt, who is originally from Tigard, got on base with getting plinked a second time in two days. Freshman Owen Morgan missed on strike three, but the catcher lost it to the wall, thus he got to first and Schleichardt scored.
  9. 10-1 Ducks after seven innings. Toby Twist is working to save his pitching career after injury setbacks, and gave up a run this inning, although he has quite a curve for a lefty. Great upside there as a relief pitcher later...
  10. 10-0 Ducks after six innings. Another scoreless inning for Ryan Featherston, and with 80 pitches...I imagine his day is done. He has looked studly today, and it is hard to believe he is the fourth starter? I have not seen starter depth like this since the glory days of George Horton, and it will be fun to watch them against the great competition later on the schedule.
  11. 10-0 Ducks after five innings. Drew Smith and Ryan Cooney teamed for a sweet double play to keep the Patriots scoreless. Freshman Brayden Jaksa got a hit in deep LF, and Jack Brooks nailed a stout one deep in the LR/CF gap. He scores Jaksa, and his speed is so exceptional and got him a triple? Whew! Ryan Cooney singles to CF to then score Brooks.
  12. 8-0 Ducks after four innings. Boy, Ryan Featherston looks so sharp, as he has this changeup pitch that just dies...and batter are waving at chunks of air. He retired the side again, and has given up just one hit in four innings and 55 pitches. It is BASEBALL season again...and I'm a Happy Duck!
  13. 8-0 Ducks after three innings. Geez, the development of all three returning pitchers this weekend has been amazing. Ryan Featherston is just attacking batters with strikes on the first pitch, and puts them in a hole quickly. Looks much different than last year!
  14. 8-0 Ducks after two innings. I was worried that with Ryan Featherston sitting for a half hour due to the long first inning--that he would lose his edge. Nope, as he got three outs in four batters. Ryan Cooney got to second on a LF error, and Jax Gimenez singled to short-CF. Dominic Hellman blasts a hit on the RF side of second as the GM shifted to left, and scores Cooney with the speedy Gimenez making to third from first. Gabe Miranda got plinked, and Drew Smith grounds out to shallow LF to score two!
  15. 5-0 Ducks after one inning. Ryan Featherston got his first start at Oregon, and put them down in order. He has a 90-92 mph fastball, but a nasty curve/drop-ball that creates soft contact and grounders. Then he has a changeup to boot! Ryan Cooney got plinked, and moved to second on a balk. Jax Gimenez walked, and then Dominic Hellman just put the barrel out there and got a hit with two strikes into the shallow right field. He is beginning to improvise to help the Ducks, and get on base when his favorite pitches aren't available. Gabe Miranda got walked and brought in the first run with the bases being loaded, and then Maddox Molony rips a shot down the 3rd baseline to get a double and score two! Drew Smith grounds out at first, but scores Miranda, and then Angel Laya grounds out to score Molony. Wow, what a first inning and it comes from pitching gifts again. Great to see it happens to other schools too, although this pitcher has not pitched in three years due to recovery from Tommy John surgery. Yep...he was rusty.

  18. Ducks add another speedster from Texas for 2027At the Carl Lewis Invitational his freshman year, CaDarius McMiller ran the indoor 60 meters in 6.97, a personal record. McMiller, 6-1, 195, committed to the Ducks on Saturday, their fifth commitment of the 2027 class. He's the latest in a series of promising Texas running backs to fly north for college football. All-time great LaMichael James and Tradarian Ball hail from Texarkana, about two hours northeast up State Highway 155N. ames ran his best time in the 60 as a redshirt freshman at Oregon, 6.77 seconds at the Husky Classic in Seattle. McMiller, four years younger than LMJ was then, only needs to gain a stride and a half to catch him. As a sophomore at Tyler the tall, lean running back ran 10.59 in the 100 meters. He could crack 10.5 this spring, which would put him in James/Barner/Thomas territory as a speed merchant. 21. If you're visiting Eugene, don't miss Barry's. It's an institution. https://www.barryseugene.com From The Daily Emerald. "And how soulful it is. Barry’s the best deli I’ve seen outside its traditional headquarters of New York and Los Angeles. I really don’t believe you can have it better unless you’re at a place like Canter’s in LA or Katz’s in New York. Sure, you can visit the “new-style” delis in Portland or Seattle but they’re borderline sacrilege. The new delis often make a pastrami sandwich with thick-sliced meat, or a bagel and lox with half the lox you’d normally get. The thought of this would make many purists cringe. Deli food isn’t supposed to be reinvented. It’s the food that you ate when your 94-year-old great grandmother pinched your cheek and called you shayna punim, or “pretty-face” in Yiddish."

  25. The byes have been a giant failure. They don't want to sit while everybody else plays. And then they are rusty when they play. 32 is too many. #32 vs #1 first round is like Oregon playing Portland State. Any big 4 can climb to #16 by winning games. Nobody owes anybody an invitation without earning it in the polls. Just because you beat junior varsity teams and have some wins doesn't mean you are great. The glory of the conference championship games went away when they did away with the divisions. Back then, there was some pride in your division. Now, it is just an exhibition game kind of preview of the playoffs. What they could do is bring back divisions (since the conferences are so big now) and factor that into the schedule and the polls as the season wears on. I would be OK with the top 4 conferences getting their division winners in and then playing with just them. To do that, ND would need to join a conference. The big 4 would have to pick up the pac12 teams that are worthy plus a few others. Or remake the pac12 and merge the southeast into one conference. Even with 12 teams, those at the bottom of the best 12 cannot compete. That is just how the game is.
