  3. Hey... Alabama put numbers ON the helmets and names on the BACKS! That's just downright crazy by traditionalist standards. PSU stopped with the stripe down the middle and I think even when they did that the designers were like "I think this is a little much, better not put player names on the back."
  4. I watched more college baseball this year than I have in years and have had a hard time predicting who would beat whom. So I have pretty much decided to root for the underdogs. As a former pitcher, I have been surprised how nondominant college pitchers are--even when it seems they are throwing serious gas or otherwise have electric "stuff". I've decided it is the aluminum bats that give hitters a real sizable advantage. It is certainly not that way in the pros. When I watch the Giants, I am almost embarrassed for the number of starting position players hanging somewhere around or just north of the Mendoza line. Having said this, I guess I am too much of a traditionalist to advocate livening up the game by legalizing metal bats. Somehow hearing a hitter say, after hitting a 650 foot HR, "I really got good metal on that one" would grate on me. Plus, we would probably have to build much bigger ballparks, I fear, to prevent lazy 420 foot fly ball home runs.

  6. Seeds to Omaha 3-seed Arkansas 6-seed LSU 8-seed Oregon State 13-seed Coastal Carolina 15-seed UCLA Louisville (from 1-seed Vanderbilt) Arizona (from 12-seed Oregon) Determined on Monday Duke (from 7-seed Georgia) or Murray State (KY) (from 10-seed Ole Miss) Don't know much about the others, but Beavis definitely has a shot. A bunch of teams who will be sitting at home looking at this field say'in "damn, it coulda been us."
  7. I'm Calling it Now, Oregon State is Winning the Natty, AGAIN... Yeah, I'm good with it...

  9. It didn't start well for the Beavs in their winner takes all game against FSU in the Corvallis Super Regional. The Beavs started a freshman pitcher, he got the first guy out, the next hit a double of the left field wall, the next guy it over the wall. 2-0, Beavs coming to bat. Beavs scored 7, including back to back to back home runs. FSU put 1 up in the 2nd. In the 3rd, the Beavs scored 6, 4 on a grand slam. So far, the Beavs have a 1 run homer, a 2 run homer, a 3 run homer & the grand slam. Bottom of the 4th, 13-3. Tell me Jameis, could this one go either way?
  10. Wisconsin No. 3? The second most boring uniform in college football is Penn State, and he has them at No. 4? Traditional and iconic, yes, but only Alabama has more boring of uniforms. PSU is not No. 3 or even No. 18; there has to be a lower grade... I kinda thought the black and gold presented by Purdue was much cooler than most listed. How do you NOT love this...
  11. Jon...the homework you do is just astounding. Nearly a full team returning who have experience winning? I did NOT know how weak their schedule was...whew! They HAVE to be the best "over" bet in CFB... You are not flying under Jon Joseph's radar!
  12. After giving up a 2 run dinger in the first, the Rodents put of 7 in their half of the inning, with 4 of them coming on 2 HR's from the 8 & 9 hitters in the lineup. Impressive for the Marsupials.
  13. Midwest is simple meat and potatoes for the most part. Thats their heritage meat and potatoes and a cloud of dust.
  14. 'Oklahoma's schedule isn't easy, but it's manageable'. Hmmmm. How'd you like to manage Michigan, Auburn, Texas in Dallas, at South Carolina, Ole Miss, at Tennessee, at Alabama, Missouri, and LSU? The Sporting News (TSN) ranks the Sooners' schedule the 2nd most difficult in the SEC. TSN has Florida ranked No. 1. (Transfers QB Mateer and RB Ott did not play together last season. Mateer played for Wazzu, and Ott played for Cal. SIGH ) 6.5 at -160 aren't bad odds, but I wouldn't bet the Over unless the odds were -125 or better. Illinois's win total is 7.5, one more than Oklahoma's. 18 of the 22 starters who won ten games in 2024, nine in the regular season, return to play for Bret Bielema. TSN ranks the Illinois 2025 schedule as the easiest in the B1G. The Illini miss OBD, Penn State, and Michigan, and get USC and Ohio State at home. Games at Duke, Indiana, UW, and Wisconsin will be tough. The Over for Oklahoma and the Over for Illinois pay the same, -150 at DraftKings. IMO, Illinois is the better bet. But there is better value out there than betting on these two. If Georgia goes Over 9.5, it should surprise no one. Last season's road games vs. Bama, Ole Miss, and Texas are 'Tween the Hedges in 2025. Auburn, Tennessee, and Georgia Tech on the road will be tough. My gut says the Dawgs go Over, but I don't think -170 provides enough value. I think both Nebraska and USC will barely go Over 7.5. Nebraska has the easier schedule and IMO, -115 is favorable. -130 for USC is reasonable, but not worth a B1G bet. I can't find the odds, but if I could, I'd take the Under on: "Lincoln Riley has not forgotten how to coach." Thanks for the post. Send Bob and His Cats Back to Bozeman!

  17. The writer's sole reason for putting Oregon at No.9 is that Oregon has too many great uniforms. I don't see a difference between Rutgers and Indiana, or Wisconsin for that matter. But Iowa No.1 makes no sense at all.
  18. Patience... Crazy enough Oregon probably doesn't need a prep QB this recruiting cycle. Moore will be around for one or two seasons. If Moore leaves after this year Novosad is probably next up. Moga and Smith are both promising and we'll have a fuller picture as to whether they stick around or not after the season. But I'd bet that one is guaranteed to stick around as they'll likely be in play for a backup spot. And then Oregon can always get someone from the portal if needed.
  19. No. 9??? Well that's a minority opinion for sure. They are welcome to it... But as we all know they're wrong. For many in the B1G, tradition outweighs everything else. Maryland is pretty low on their list and they are similar to Oregon on their more recent approach to uniforms... Though less successful. I love how Oregon isn't anti tradition but so much of the Oregon tradition now is innovation and ever changing.
