  2. He never played the position he coaches. But Oregon football players call him a ‘genius’“He’s somebody that can dissect the defense very well,” Moore said of Ka’ai. “He’s a coach that ... the conversations you have with him is the best thing. Outside of football, he’s been through a lot in life.” Those conversations can be pointed, and perhaps veer into unexpected territory. Ka’ai went viral Tuesday for how he said he evaluates quarterback recruits. “I ask them a question like this all the time: ‘Hey, do you like chocolate ice cream or vanilla ice cream?’ And the minute the kid pauses, I don’t really want that kid,” Ka’ai said. “Because you need to have some type of conviction. ... So, whether you like chocolate or you like vanilla, I don’t really care. But if you sit there and say, ‘Oh, coach, I don’t know. Is it melted? Is it not? What’s the brand?’ Like, what is this guy gonna do on third down in front of 110,000? He’s probably gonna think about it more than he should.” They do say genius is never understood in its own time. https://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/2026/04/he-never-played-the-position-he-coaches-but-oregon-football-players-call-him-a-genius.html

  14. Holy Crap! That is the FIRST Mens Championship in any NCAA sport that Washington has won in over 130 years of existence. Their first nine championships were all done by the women. (Softball, Rowing, etc.) Damn. There goes my favorite joke.... "The Men of Washington are Proven to NOT be Championship Caliber."
  15. Given who won last night (5 transfers starting) roster retention is no longer in style. Being good at identifying and paying talent is where it’s at, and apparently we have room for improvement on both of those fronts. Our activity level is starting to get embarrassing imo. Ready for some big moves given the portal opens, uh, today.
  16. Head Coach Dan Lanning meets with the media after Spring Practice #6 for Oregon Football
  17. What about Devon Pryer and JJ Frakes? Have they also hit the transfer portal?
  18. Can there be any question now as to the effect transfers (and the amount of $$ it takes to get them) have had on college basketball when the starters for a team that just won the national championship had not one player from their own recruits?
  19. It probably has to do with the amount of $$ generated by football before and after the three broadcast tv channels was replaced by the cable services (primarily ESPN & Fox) that bid university/athletic dept. income into the stratosphere. From that point, it became just a matter of time before those responsible for this jump would demand their rightful share of this new wealth. Cue the lawyers . . .
  20. The hits keep coming. I suspect more will come tomorrow.

  22. Ice Hockey - Michigan State was expected to join Michigan in Las Vegas, but was upset by Wisconsin. The Wisconsin women's hockey team won the title with a victory over Ohio State in the championship game. Basketball - Michigan's win last night, along with the UCLA women's championship win over South Carolina on Sunday, gives the Big Ten the men's and women's championships for the first time in the same season. Football - "Football School" Indiana Mendoza's Miami, in Miami, for the title. B1G Trifecta in the Moneyball sports. 🤑 Men's Soccer - Washington won six consecutive road games to win it all, defeating NC State in North Carolina to win the championship. Women's Soccer - UW, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Northwestern made the NCAA Tournament 64- team field. UW, Michigan State, and Ohio State lost in the Sweet 16. Women's Gymnastics - Minnesota and UCLA won their regional competition to advance to the Elite Eight. Softball - B1G Top 25 - 4 Nebraska, 7 UCLA, 12 Oregon, 22 UW Baseball - 1 UCLA, swept 14 USC over the weekend, 13 Nebraska, and 21 Oregon Women's Golf - Oregon is ranked No. 5. Northwestern defeated Stanford 3-2 to win the 2025 NCAA Championship. Field Hockey - Northwestern won the NCAA championship. Wrestling - Penn State won the NCAA championship for the 5th season in a row, scoring a record number of points in the process. It's Good to be B1G - 👍👌🦆😍
  23. Great information, as the Big-10 winning Mens and Womens Basketball AND Football? Currently UCLA is No. 1 ranked in Baseball...
  24. Congratulations to No. 1 seed Michigan Wolverines for their basketball championship. And to the Illinois Illini for reaching the final four. Quite the accomplishment. Looking ahead at the way-too-early rankings for the 2026-2027 basketball season, there are SEVEN B1G schools in the top 25. No. 1 Michigan No. 6 Michigan St. No. 8 Illinois No. 14 Purdue No. 17 USC No. 18 Nebraska No. 25 Iowa. Just looking at that will give Duck fans a sinking feeling for the upcoming basketball season. In the PAC, Oregon only had Arizona and UCLA to contend with. Understandingly, attendance has been down. For B1G games, Matthew Knight Arena attendance was roughly 55% capacity. A lot of lost revenue for the school. In contrast, only USC, Washington, Rutgers and Northwestern have smaller arenas than Oregon. Switching to football, even though the Ducks fill the stadium with standing room only patrons, (59,000 plus) its still small potatoes compared to the other schools. Only Indiana, Rutgers, Maryland, Minnesota and Northwestern have small stadiums. And finally hockey. Guess who the No. 1 seed is for the "Frozen Four?" The Michigan Wolverines! How about that. And the Wisconsin Badgers are also in the frozen four. The B1G is well represented in football, basketball and hockey. For any Duck fan who enjoys hockey, here is the schedule: Thursday April 9th 2pm ESPN2 No. 2 North Dakota Bisons vs. Wisconsin Badgers Thursday April 9th 5:30 pm ESPN2 No. 1 Michigan Wolverines vs. Denver Pioneers Saturday April 11th 2:30pm ESPN Championship All games played in Las Vegas
  25. There are up to 4 opportunities for exciting OOC games in the playoff. Texas is exhibit A; crush Texas State instead of losing to tOSU and they almost certainly make the playoff last season. Until there is a format change, OOC should be 3 regional cupcakes at home…imo of course.
