Pathetic Pooches Pout as Oregon REIGNS 6-4 Over Washington

Mutts go up 2-0 in the 1st, there happy. No sweat for OBD. They tie it up, then go ahead, 4-2. But 2 homers for UW ties it up. Wow, this must have really got frustrating for the Nutts, Walsh, Oregon's career leader in home runs blasts one to get the lead back, then Neville, with the shift on, gets another, and that was it. A great defensive play by Walsh, which is getting to be an every game thing is almost disallowed, a great at bat for Malony, starts out 0-2, but with a mix of 5 foul offs and 4 balls, gets a walk. Yep, never gets old beating the Huskies! - Today

Pathetic Pooches Pout as Oregon REIGNS 6-4 Over Washington

Oregon wins 6-4, as the Duck's Seth Mattox comes in to close with his sideways action pitches, and sends the Huskies away whimpering. This makes six straight wins, but we gotta win Sunday at noon as well! -

6-4 Ducks after eight innings, as Santiago Garcia got the first Husky out, and then Oregon's Cole Stokes came in and threw his 97 mph flame-throwers to finish the Washington side. THREE MORE OUTS on these Bastards... -

6-4 Ducks after seven innings, as Santiago Garcia is getting his confidence as he punished the 'dogs for simply being there 1-2-3. -

6-4 Ducks after six innings, as Santiago Garcia replaced Clarke, and kept the damn Huskies scoreless. Jacob Walsh caught a fly that has to be seen to be believed, as it was moving into the Oregon dugout, but the rule is...you cannot touch your feet inside the edge of the field. So Walsh leaped from the edge of the stairs, and caught the ball while in the air before landing. Whew! Mason Neville added to the lead with a wonderful homer! -

5-4 Ducks after five innings. The damn Huskies hit two home runs in the inning off Clarke, but Jacob Walsh came back to hit a monster blast of his own. -

4-2 Ducks after four innings, as Oregon's Collin Clarke slapped the Huskies with a rolled up newspaper to go 1-2-3. He has only 42 pitches after four innings, so this is promising for him to do deep into the game. Chase Meggers got Oregon going with a line-drive out in right field, and then Ryan Cooney gets plinked by the Washington pitcher for runners on first and second. Carter Garate hits to second base, but the Husky fielder throws a wild one into the dugout to score Meggers. With Cooney on third, and Garate on first, the Ducks Mason Neville crushed a liner just inside the right field to score both runners! -

2-1 UW after three innings, as Clarke put them down 1-2-3, but the Ducks stranded two on base. -

2-1 UW after two innings. Oregon's Collin Clarke got hits against him, but an error by an infielder set up two unearned runs later. The Ducks saw Drew Smith zing a hit past 3rd base and into the left field corner to start things in the second inning with a double. Then Anson Aroz sacrificed a grounder to right side to move Smith to third. Then the Pride of Springfield, Maddox Molony, smashed a line drive into medium left field for a hit and scores Drew Smith. -
So many things, Gat. Belichick. I still think he wants to get back to the NFL, leave UNC to his kid, so he can "win without Brady" and break Shula's record. Deion and Colorado, I don't know about "changing forever", they improved to 2nd in the B12. Cal & Stanford in the ACc describes college football perfectly. I used to always cheer for Michigan when they played osu2. And Washington fans feel the same way about James. I don't know who's on top at osu2, Woody, or Urban. Everything points to Oregon winning a Natty, there isn't anything else OBD can do!

HOW? Oregon's Stunning Pitching Turnaround...Wowsa
DanLduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
So much of success in sports is cerebral. And success is contagious. As would be the reverse. Baseball in my opinion is very cerebral due to success being less than 50%. Always a need to put that last bad at bat behind you, or last pitch. In what other sport would a 30% batting average, (success ratio) be OK? With such a long season, maybe longer periods of ups and downs is inevitable. Whatever their motivation relies on, I hope they continue their stride into the post season. -
BB will either be a complete and utter dumpster fire or he'll change CFB forever. Either way I'm intrigued. I don't understand the whole situation with his ummmm .... Personal image manager, but hey man as long as nobody gets hurt, all the power to you. Stanford and California playing in the ATLANTIC Coast Conference is wild just in name alone. SMU essentially buying their way into the P4 and making the playoff in year one was something I didn't see. But I didn't see Boise and ASU getting byes while Texas, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Penn State all had to play first round games. Notre Dame should never ever get a first round bye until they join a league imo. CFB has to hold them to some account of their weak schedule and force them to always pay for that with an extra game. As far as private equity, the Michigan spy scandal and the whole Deion changing Colorado football forever things happening. I would have guessed that players would eventually get paid and the NCAA would butcher it beyond a Friday the 13th film. We all know Michigan won't get the punishment they deserve. They're such hypocrites though, their fan base cheered while USC and Ohio State got wins and seasons erased along with scholarship reductions for doing far less. Michigan used funds and a military tactician to steal signs and it absolutely changed their fortunes. Just look at Jim Harbaugh desperately searching for an NFL gig for two straight seasons. Two of his best seasons ever btw. Have you ever seen a guy coming off a National Title looking to leave that quickly? Have you ever seen a guy with all the talent returning from the prior season to him winning the title look to leave? He's the guy who lied about buying a kid a cheeseburger, he had sleepovers with recruits and he violated Covid rules blatantly. Yet Michigan fans say he the greatest coach ever. Enough with him though. If I had a prediction for the next decade. It would be CFB being almost a clone of the NFL as far as the playoff format and salary cap rules. There has to be structure and that includes a commissioner. Probably a jointly appointed one just over the SEC and B1G head guys. I think Oregon will be the next program to win their first ever title. Clemson broke through and won two in the last decade. Georgia finally broke through for the first time since the 80's. Alabama and Ohio State will continue to roll along. Notre Dame will jump up and grab a title as long as Freeman remains there. Will USC, Miami or FSU finally be back? I don't know. You would think they have all the resources, but it takes big time money from alumni and businesses. Sports fans in L.A and Miami just don't really care as much as fans in Eugene or Gainesville tbh. So I think Oregon will win a title. Texas will as well. Georgia and Ohio State will get at least one. Notre Dame will finally breakthrough if Freeman stays. LSU will find one of those odd years where the Title game is played in the Superdome and Alabama will prove themselves to still be a power. Florida, USC and Miami will finally make a playoff and could potentially fulfill their potential. It might be under different coaches though. The Cleveland Browns and Tennessee Titans will still be terrible and looking for franchise QBs. BB and Nick Saban will star in a movie called "Grumpy Old Coaches".

HOW? Oregon's Stunning Pitching Turnaround...Wowsa
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
An ERA is a very faulty gauge for performance as one bad inning, or a 1/3 of an inning will produce a huge number, and has been mentioned before, baseball is tough. A really good hitter will go out 7 out of 10 times. Nolan Ryan is a Hall of Fame pitcher, the leader in career strikeouts, but only won 53% of his games. Willie Mays started his first season going 0-21. Figure out baseball" Wee Willie Keeler said it best, "Hit it where they ain't" -

The best analogy I can think of is golf. Pitching, or playing golf at a high level requires precise mechanics, and mental toughness. If your timing is slightly off things go south quickly, and a mental lapse can be costly. Throw in the weather factor, add some bad luck, and you have can easily have a bad round, or bad inning. A swing/pitching coach will help players achieve higher levels, but can also help players with their mental approach when they are in a slump. College players in both sports are one step from being professional players. So we are watching the top non-professional players. It can be a very fine line between those who go on to have a professional career, and those who don’t. -

Hi Charles Baseball is such a funny game sometimes. You never know what is going to happen. That's why we enjoy it so much. I don't know either why a team can be so good and then seem to fall apart so suddenly. I can see a pitcher or batter having a slump, but when the entire team does, that is certainly perplexing. Based on their ups and downs, I looked at their schedule. February 14th - March 10th 13 home games 3 road games March 11th - April 24th 15 home games 8 road games April 25th - May 9th 6 home games 4 road games It's easier to win at home then on the road. Maybe that has something to do with it. And there could have been a flu bug or cold virus circulating throughout the clubhouse that made the players feel a bit ill. Let's hope everyone is healthy and ready to kick the Huskies butt. -
Terrific comments that all lean in favor of the regular season meaning more, which makes sense. The problem? Since the 1980s, it's all been about Dollar$ and Cent$. If the House settlement is approved, programs will have to come up with $20.5 million in direct payments to athletes. (But they're still not employees, right?) This comes at a time when the majority of athletic departments are in the deep red. Oregon being in the black is a testament to Rob Mullens. I've dumped on his scheduling from time to time, but Rob is doing the job that counts, and Oregon is counting the money. State laws regarding athletes being paid directly and via NIL are all over the place. The latest ploy is to exempt compensation paid to athletes from state taxation. Give It Up for U and State! College sports need NFL-like protection from Congress. Is this attainable without turning college football into NFL-Lite? I hope so.
