  2. I'm not sold on the B1G defensive lines reason. We all saw how we played Idaho's DL that were smaller than our linebackers. Yeah injuries and cohesiveness we issues, but I don't think Terry handled it well. I'd take a couple botched snaps a game with Poncho over that mess we had with Pickard and everyone shifted suboptimally. Gabriel is a good enough player to handle botched snaps. I still remember the Alamo bowl and thinking we would have won if we put in Alie who was the better athlete who could handle imperfect snaps vs. Lockie who butterfingered the game away.
  3. One has to wonder if he had a major stroke of luck with the talent during his short time at UCF.
  4. Today
  5. I think he was rehired because he had success and they must have all departed on good terms. I think everyone knew that if Nebraska called he would take that job and that's what happened. In hindsight we can say he shouldn't have left but the reality is that Nebraska has been a hot mess for several head coaches and it wasn't just a Scott Frost problem there. And he found the limitations of his coaching ability at Nebraska. He's not the only coach to be rehired at a school they used to be the HC for. If they understand what the program can offer they know how to sell it and that's harder than ever in this day and age. Additionally, I think Frost likes being able to recruit rather local and the level of competition. We'll have to see how successful he'll be the second time around.
  6. 30Duck, That game against Michigan was similar to the Saturday game near the end of the season when the Ducks played UCLA on a Saturday at the Jane. No matter what UCLA did, it worked; no matter what the Ducks did, it was wrong. The following game on a Sunday was the exact opposite. This game, no matter what the Wolverines did, it worked; no matter what the Ducks did, it was wrong. That last conditions-outcomes shouts to the level of leadership/maturity within the coaching staff and the team. Preparation? Naaah. The team already beat all the other teams; they will all be easy pickins. In actual fact, the Ducks were unprepared to win. What a shame, to get this far, and then blow it! Perhaps it's better here than in the Regional or in a Super-regional. Get that attitude, that fat-headedness out of the team, out of the coaches! UCLA displayed that arrogance during and after the 2d game, and the Ducks smoked them the next day. This time, our Ducks had that arrogance internalized, and the Wolverines gave our Ducks the bill to pay. VR, KCDuck1

  8. To be honest I didn't know he got rehired by UCF. He had such success there before, he probably should never have left in the first place. Scott Frost due an extension if UCF makes bowl this season - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM Through an executive summary obtained by The Associated Press on Tuesday, it was detailed that Scott Frost received a five-year, $22.1 million contract upon his UCF return, and it will...
  9. Looks like all of those will be accomplished by winning.
  10. Michigan got everything right, Oregon got everything wrong.
  11. Here is a link to an article by Jon Wilner regarding Pac-12 finances for the last year before everyone but Beavis and the Cougs left for greener pastures. One key finding is that: "Oregon is the only school that did not book any student fees or direct transfers as revenue, and the Ducks managed to report an operating surplus of $1.9 million." Most Pac-12 legacy schools leaned hard on campuses to bail athletics out of settlement, growing expenses WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Based on NCAA filings and upcoming release of tax returns, it appears Pac-12 schools ran a collective deficit of $110 million for fiscal 2024 year.
  12. I'm still hopeful they can find a way to get into the top 8 and get a super regional, I'm sure the team is kicking themselves for some of the losses to Ohio St., Portland, and some others. I'm more interested in where the team can finish in the RPI than I am getting a conference crown, the goal should be first and foremost getting to Omaha.
  13. It would definitely help the Ducks' SOS if Beavis won, not sure if it would have a demoralizing effect on Iowa...it could fire them up! Clearly, less than 2 of 3 against the Mutts is unacceptable, and if UCLA were to lose a couple, that would be fine.
  14. I am running into an appointment and can discuss further later, but I will say that (Will) Sanford is no longer a starter, as he lost that Sunday starting position to Jason Reitz, and in the mid-week games- he did not start either game this week, and did not even pitch.
  15. Big Ten baseball is entering the final two weeks of the regular season. It's that time of year when the games are both exciting and nerve-wracking! Let's set the stage and get right to it. I have separated the contenders from the pretenders. The top five teams, their record and their remaining games. 1. Iowa 21-6 home: Oregon 2. UCLA 17-7 home: Northwestern road: Illinois 3. Oregon 16-8 home: Washington road: Iowa 4. USC 16-8 home: Michigan State road: Washington 5. Washington 15-9 home: USC road: Oregon I have listed the starting pitchers for Oregon and our opponents, Washington and Iowa. This is based on a minimum of eight starts. It shows win-loss record, innings pitched, walks, strike outs and era. Won Lost IP BB K ERA Grayson Grinsell 7 2 74.2 24 77 2.77 Jason Reitz 3 0 46.2 23 50 3.66 Collin Clark 4 2 59.1 19 54 4.10 Will Sanford 2 2 38.0 39 42 6.39 Washington Huskies Max Banks 6 2 56.2 22 52 3.49 Jackson Thomas 4 3 57.1 23 43 3.92 Tommy Brandenburg 3 4 46.1 30 31 4.66 Justin Tims 1 4 40.1 12 35 5.13 Iowa Hawkeyes Cade Obermueller 4 2 68.0 26 94 2.51 Reece Beauter 6 0 60.1 20 66 3.13 Aaron Savary 7 0 67.0 27 74 3.36 The Ducks are currently the # 13 seed to host a regional. They would host TCU, Cal Poly and Fairfield. They have a mathematical chance to win the Big Ten conference but would have to sweep both the Huskies and Hawkeyes and also hope for UCLA to lose. Oregon holds the tie-breaker over both UCLA (2-1) and USC (3-0) They need to win twice against Washington so they have that tie-breaker against them in case of the same record at the end of the season. And finally teams that are on the bubble. Last four in: Kansas State, Kentucky, IOWA, Xavier First four out: U.T. Rio Grande Valley, Western Kentucky, MICHIGAN, Notre Dame Four to watch: Virginia, Virginia Tech, Kennesaw State, WASHINGTON A final thought. Iowa hosts little brother this week-end. Who are we pulling for? It has to be Bevis. If they win, it helps the Ducks strength of schedule. And if the Hawkeyes are beaten, would they be demoralized so much that they wouldn't have any fight left in them when they play Oregon? There's going to be a lot of scoreboard watching this week-end! Go Ducks!
  16. Bet the House the settlement will be approved, but CFB is still waiting on Judge Wilken. NCAA settlement update leaves Ohio State fans even more confused than before SCARLETANDGAME.COM Are we ever going to get a final decision on the massive NCAA settlement that's going to change college sports as we know it? The hope was that things would tak
  17. It Just Means More is $88 million behind the B1G. So, $80 million more to play nine conference games makes sense and again shows the SEC commish Sankey, is great at playing the long game. ESPN is begging the SEC to make a massive change to the football schedule SATURDAYBLITZ.COM It feels like we've been circling the same question for years now—when is the SEC finally going to pull the trigger on a 9-game conference schedule? If you've Back-to-back in-conference schedules that have the SEC's top teams, sans Texas, beating one another up, and in 2024-25, only sending three teams to the CFB PO, makes more sense if ESecPN comes up with another $80 million.
  18. If the House settlement is approved, all NIL deals over $600 () will be reviewed and revealed. Until this happens, it's reporting rumor; a WAG.
  19. The author of this piece does a good job of summarizing chaotic issues in the college sports world, especially in college football, and I would add, Men's college basketball. However, Nick Saban and friends are well aware of the issues that need to be addressed, but without help from Congress, the newly formed committee, including former Alabama coach Nick Saban, will be shoveling sand against the tide (Tide?) The NCAA, with over 1100 members, is too unwieldy to properly address the issues that plague the big-time moneyball sports. The NCAA's win-loss record in court has the NCAA playing alone in Division IV. The solutions are clear, and without the solutions being put in place, we will see an NFL-Lite CFB Super Conference and likely an NBA-Lite Super Conference. 3 bold moves Nick Saban must make if he wants to save college football SATURDAYBLITZ.COM Nick Saban may be done coaching, but he’s not done fighting for the future of college football. Fresh off his retirement, the legendary Alabama coach is expecte (The article's author identified three 'Rich Programs.' Which of the three is located in a state that does not pump oil? ) Nick is the CFB Coaching GOAT, but no individual could have patched the hole in the Titanic. There is no one more qualified to save college football than Nick Saban SATURDAYBLITZ.COM Nick Saban has been called a lot of things over the years, but he now has another title that might just be his most important yet: college football’s last great I prefer the Power 2 to a Super Conference with a few teams relegated and added on, and more games between the B1G and the SEC. But for this to happen, Congress has to act. Nick has a lot of influence, but fixing college football and college sports in general is a BIGGER ASK than winning a Natty.

  20. Last year I was seeing Penn State ahead of Oregon in terms of NIL money. I don't know how they get their information but I know that Oregon is always near the top but rarely ever the top.

  23. Hats Off to Kiara Romero. I certainly do not know from experience, merely from watching 'real' golfers, but after a record 62 on opening day, to shoot 68 the following day is golfing your ball. A Natty would be so sweet. Finishing in the top 4 gets you a game at Augusta National the week before the 2026 Masters, which is nice.
  24. Just what we want to see in a mid-week series. Now, get ready for the purple puppies!

  28. Finally someone who averages over 4PPG! Seriously though, this seems like a decent pick up. He rebounds well and can block some shots. He can also score a little bit and supplement Evans, Bittle, and Shelstad. There are a lot of forwards on this roster - Pryor, Evans, Stewart, Lindsay, Kobzystyi. Oregon still needs a couple of guards that can shoot it from deep very badly. Sarr is still a must have.
