The Ducks Have Roster Depth Like Never Before
To paraphrase ZZ Top: They have depth and they know how to use it. I only see a couple games on the schedule that they may want to ride the 1s and 2s most of the game. Outside of redshirt considerations, the 3s and 4s should still see plenty of playing time. The drop off from 1 to 2 or 2 to 3 is unbelievably small. What a time to be a Duck fan.

Moga is the No. 2 Quarterback....MOGA?
If Novo is looking at being QB1 in 2026, I don’t see him going anywhere. Also 2026 Novo 2027 Moga 2028 Smith Jr works for me. I think learning from the best and waiting your turn to run a top offense in the country would be a smart decision.

Moga is the No. 2 Quarterback....MOGA?
Oregon backup QB Austin Novosad held out against Oklahoma State for ‘precautionary’ reasonsOregon coach Dan Lanning said it was “more precautionary probably than anything” for Novosad, who has been dealing with a back injury. “I think Austin can go, but his lat’s been bothering him a little bit,” Lanning said. “He’s been able to practice, but we’re trying to limit him and get him in position to where he can go again.” oregonliveOregon QB Austin Novosad held out vs. Okla St for ‘precau...Novosad was listed as questionable for last week’s game with Oklahoma State and though he warmed up and was in full pads, the redshirt sophomore did not play in the 69-3 win.

Oregon Marketing Theme Videos "2025"
Ducks vs Them | 2025 Oregon Football Game 2 | "Invested in Winning" Ducks vs Them, Oklahoma State released, and it's a bangerDan Lanning takes the podium at the Monday meeting. "What's the theme this week? Let It Rip." Lanning is at heart a teacher, the son of two teachers, with a gift for engaging his students. He asks senior linebacker Bryce Boettcher, "When you hear that, what do you think, Bryce?" "Bet I see his face Bryce is smiling. All the linebackers in the room are smiling right now. When I say 'let it rip,' what do you think, Bryce?" Bryce answers with a growl in his voice. "Just letting it rrrip, you know?' A few in the room chuckle. Lanning, again. "What's letting it rip, man? Not second guessing yourself. Just going for it." Lanning tells the players he wants them to trust their training and preparation, to play with abandon and purpose. The power point advances to an image of a bull coming out of the chute, trying to throw a cowboy. "The bull don't care," Lanning tells his team. The Ducks Have Roster Depth Like Never Before
Fair enough sir. Very good points. The way Oregon held down that 2010 Auburn offense speaks to your point. I stand by my week in and week out wear and tear opinion though. Oregon and Utah both have an old school physicality to them. USC, Washington, and UCLA have had to make some adjustments. Lincoln Riley in particular went to USC thinking he was escaping the SEC gauntlet , only to find he was going to the B1G.

Oregon Football: Did We Underestimate Dakorien Moore?
Our Oregon football program has been putting the nation on notice over the last two weeks, and expectations have shot through the roof for what this team’s capable of. One player who entered the season as a major potential x-factor was freshman wide receiver Dakorien Moore. Even Mr. FishDuck had to share his surprise with me about this new freshman, although ... Ducks vs. Them. Game 2
The blocking this year on the whole so far has been insane! Dakorian Moore's block in week one just pancaked a guy in the end zone. Granted that wasn't the guy he was supposed to be blocking... but if you're going to block the wrong guy might as well pancake him. I know it's only been two games and we haven't played a real contender yet... but this team is giving me a lot of hope. Penn State isn't looking quite so scary at the moment. Especially seeing their offense stalled out a bit against Florida Atlantic for a drive or two.

Why is Big Noon Kickoff going to Northwestern?
Being as these games get drafted before the season starts by all the networks that carry B1G games what probably happened was this... Fox (who has the most picks) either took this game because Oregon-Northwestern is the most interesting B1G conference game. USC-Purdue is the only other conference game. I suppose it's a toss up as to which would be more interesting but CBS has USC-Purdue. the only other interesting games are on ESPN/ABC which means Fox wasn't able to carry them probably based on the home team. Minn at Cal could be interesting but that's on ESPN. Ohio State gets a late afternoon game but they are playing Ohio and that game shouldn't be all that interesting. Michigan plays Central Michigan at the same time... So that leaves Oregon-Northwestern as the only B1G conference game or only Power 4 match-up worth watching in that time slot.

Why is Big Noon Kickoff going to Northwestern?
If you look at the Big Ten slate this week it's a nothing burger. Bama-Wiscy is on ABC since the game is at Bama. The only other game that you might choose is Purdue-USC and at least Northwestern had a pulse last year. There just aren't any good game this week other than if you think Wisconsin has a chance on the road, but they can't even pick that game, so the battle on the shores of Lake Michigan it is!

Why is Big Noon Kickoff going to Northwestern?
Weak slate of B1G games and ABC had the “big one”. OBD are top-5 with a conference game, probably the best choice.

Why is Big Noon Kickoff going to Northwestern?
Are they curious of the novelty of witnessing the spectacle of a slaughter in person? Are they dying to see the massive crowd of 15 thousand in the wind and rain? I just can't conceive this is one of the two best games next week.

"I think Austin can go, but his lat (latissimus dorsi) has been bothering him a little bit. He's been able to practice, but we're just trying to limit it, limit him, and get him in a position where he'd be able to go again." Sounds like it could be a few weeks or maybe less, maybe more?? https://duckswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/ducks/football/2025/09/08/oregon-ducks-dan-lanning-quarterback-injury-update/86051641007/

Ducks vs. Them. Game 2
Wow. That let it rip mentally is dangerous. I think he’s telling his team he believes they’ve arrived and just go out there and get it done. The blocking in this game was insane. They were driving guys back thirty, forty yards on the long plays. This team looks motivated. Lanning looks possessed. What a lucky fan base we are.

Offense Strategy: To Reveal Or Not To Reveal?
I don't think we saw this level of complexity out of it last year because it's a two year install for many players and especially the quarterback. Last year's offense felt a bit vanilla compared to the 2023 offense with 2nd year Nix. Yes Stein was in year one but by the sound of it Lanning had an offense that he wants to run and made Stein adapt to the terminology of the Ducks and not the other way around. Lanning knows what he wants in the offense for sure. And this offense is going to continue to develop and be freaking scary. Last year's was acceptable but I think we may look back at that team and seem that a down year.

Offense Strategy: To Reveal Or Not To Reveal?
Let’s see…our vanilla offense will run, or throw out of the Shotgun, pistol, or under center. Depending on the down we will go empty backfield, multiple RB’s, trips, or quad receiver overloads, and multiple TE sets. I have to wonder what Stein considers a complicated offense.
