  2. Our Beloved Ducks are up 2-0 after one inning due to two wild pitches by the Utah pitcher.
  3. A roasting yes, now, in May. Come November, they won't say a word. It's been like this since the first BCS, or even before. If the Pac had only played 8 conf games, the rankings would have not been so skewed to the SEC. This is major reason I don't necessarily want a " National Champion" in football. We don't all play the same teams and so much depends on subjective rationale and the ol' "eye test". Well, if they can agree finally on a more level playing field, great! Being in the B1G is now of supreme importance. Hate to see the Pac go, but college sports is headed into a whole new game and I'm glad for Oregon sakes we are now B1G.
  4. And they are late to this game of realization that USC is not Oregon's equal. This article I wrote was ages ago back when Cristobal was still Oregon's head coach and I think Lanning has only pressed the advantage that was created by those who came before him. USC Football Is NOT Oregon’s Equal | FishDuck FISHDUCK.COM Oregon and USC seem primed to be the top two schools in the Pac-12. Both have top ten recruiting classes... Sure NIL helps but the reality is that USC should have way more cash for this if they had alumni who cared. And I think the reality there is that the USC alumni believe they are entitled to the recruiting wins and having an eternally natty ready roster. And that's not the reality. USC fans are just as entitled as ever and that could be an advantage for us.

  6. We can be honest about Oregon's victories over USC Phil Knight’s money is huge for Oregon, but it’s not the whole story TROJANSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Money might truly be the main driver of Oregon’s transfer portal wins over USC. It isn’t the only factor, though.
  7. 7 things to know about Oregon Ducks' new DL transfer Derrick Harmon 7 things to know about Oregon Ducks new DT Derrick Harmon DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Want to learn more about Oregon Ducks DT Derrick Harmon? We’ve got you covered.
  8. Bradley Mullan got in trouble as we had bases loaded by the Utes with NO OUTS, and Logan Mercado came in a truly saved our feathered butts. Our Beloved Ducks win 7-5, with Game two of the double-header starting about 3:10 PM.
  9. The Buckeyes 2024 schedule is getting a well-earned roasting. https://athlonsports.com/college-football/ohio-state-roasted-social-media-for-easy-2024-college-football-schedule
  10. After eight innings, the Ducks still lead 7-4 with only three more outs to finish!
  11. After being down 4-1, Our Beloved Ducks have come back to take a 7-4 lead after seven innings. Great to see Justin Cassella get going with a critical double that score Anson Aroz from first base. Fast!
  12. Oregon still leads 5-4 after six innings, with Ryan Featherston pitching in relief, and rescued by a sensational double-play from Carter Garate at third base!
  13. Had to show the homer-saving catch by Boettcher...
  14. After five innings, Oregon now leads 5-4 on a Jacob Walsh two-run blast over the right-center field wall. This puts him within one homer shy of tying the HR single season record.
  15. After four innings, Utah leads 4-3 as I spoke too soon about Gordon. Bryce Boettcher caught a fly ball a foot above the fence and saved a Ute home run from happening, and then hit a two-run homer himself. Good gosh he is taking off!
  16. The Athletic likes what Ohio State has pulled from the portal. How Ohio State won the college football offseason with a new NIL approch THEATHLETIC.COM Inside Ohio State's newfound aggressive approach to talent acquisition and retention after three consecutive losses to rival Michigan. Did tOSU 'win' the portal off-season? Very debatable IMO. 247 Sports does not have the Buckeyes close to No. 1. Ole Miss is No. 1 and OBD is 2nd. Ohio State is 8th. However, like Michigan last season, tOSU used NIL to return all highly-ranked projected draft choices other than WR Marvin Harrison. 2024 and likely many seasons thereafter will see a B1G Battle of the Os.
  17. The hubris is still evident, especially when the author won't admit Dillon Gabriel is a better QB than Miller Moss.
  18. With a 12-team playoff, does a team schedule up OOC, or schedule down? The same questions apply to the B1G as apply to the SEC but with nine conference games instead of eight the concerns are not on par. SEC nonconference scheduling, like the conference schedule, is in flux THEATHLETIC.COM SEC teams' nonconference scheduling is in a holding pattern while they wait to see what the conference schedule format will be.
  19. Number 6, or perhaps number 1, the schedule. Ohio State has the 57th most difficult 2024 schedule; Oregon's schedule is ranked the 11th most difficult. Before the champ game in Indianapolis on 12/2, the Ducks have no control over the outcome of SC's and Penn State's record. Penn State misses Michigan and like Oregon, plays Ohio State at home. SC misses Ohio State and Oregon and plays Penn State and Wisconsin in LA. Great take and I am glad to see that you included SC in the mix. I do not believe Iowa is a true contender but the Hawkeyes and Wisconsin have approximately the same odds to win the Big Ten in 2024.
  20. Yahoo Sports article on B1G 2024 out-of-conference games. "Most bitter game during the 2024 season? Easy winner: Oregon at Oregon State." Bob Asmussen | Which Big Ten football teams are ready for a challenge? SPORTS.YAHOO.COM May 4—CHAMPAIGN — Big Ten football teams have no say in their conference schedules. They get what they get. Will it be unfair to some? Probably. Feel free to shop for another league with a...
  21. Just to share that article with others who might be interested. It’s Time for a Real Spring Game | FishDuck FISHDUCK.COM The Spring Game is just a glorified scrimmage. It’s something all fans know, but we still get excited about the prospect of seeing new Oregon players show off…
  22. After two innings, Oregon leads 1-0, and thus far RJ Gordon is showing great control in the drizzling rain.
  23. Those are 3rd party contracts and cannot be influenced by anyone in the NCAA or any university. Though this could be addressed in two ways. 1. Short term and fastest way is that the bowl games payout NIL money to all those who participate as the bowl game gets use the players NIL to promote the bowl game. You could even make this more interesting by the bowl game paying out each team a base and then giving the winner more. Some prize money might incetivize some to play instead of sitting out. This is the carrot. 2. The stick of trying to restrict money for players who opt not to play cannot happen yet. It feels imminent that colleges will begin to pay their players directly and at that point colleges would probably have something set up regulating pay in their contracts. Something like players receiver X for being active participants. You shouldn't punish the kid who doesn't see the field because they aren't good enough but they do everything asked of them. And a player opting out of a bowl game would exclude them from receiving pay for that period.
  24. Breaking Down WHY Oregon Ducks Offense Will ROLL With Dillon Gabriel and Will Stein l in 2024
  25. Who can pass Kirby Smart? Ryan Day, Kalen DeBoer among contenders to supplant college football's coaching king With Nick Saban's retirement, Smart takes his rightful place at No. 1, but who can challenge him? Dan Lanning is included on the Immediate Contenders list. Who can pass Kirby Smart? 27. At least 1 Trojan 'gets it.' The inconvenient truth is that Oregon is closer to a natty than USC SPORTS.YAHOO.COM Derrick Harmon saw that Oregon is closer to a national championship than USC. It's hard to blame him.
