  1. IMHO, this is the exactly the type of world class athlete the new Hayward Field should be bringing to OBD.

There is no finer track & field facility in the WORLD!  The place is a jewel!  Top that off with one of the best football facilities in CFB, then add all the student athlete support built in to the Oregon programs, it is the best of both worlds.

The kid could do a lot worse for himself by choosing to go elsewhere.

U$C is so scared. Washington-on the rise

Oregon-owned them for the last 15+ years

Utah-informed them they are better even when their QB is not 100%.

IMHO, that is why USuC left the PAC.  They are tired of being dominated by their northern neighbors.  The extra $$ just made it easier to explain.

I hope they never see another Rose Bowl!

  3. Thank you Charles for the work that went into the article.  Well written and gives the perspective of time.

IMHO, I have to wonder what impact PK and the swoosh have had over the last couple decades in rebranding UO into The O, a nationally recognized brand all unto itself.

For the incoming freshman class, The O has been a winning brand most of their lives, in football, track & field, MBB, WBB, and even had a Natty in Golf.

Could it be that the Ducks of Oregon have slowly but surely become a Destination?

  4. Great article Alex, one that is generating even greater discussion, thanks!

I agreed with the points you made as well as the outstanding comments above.  However, the question is not really about can we trust DL, because, as mentioned above, not only do we have no choice, our trust makes no difference.

The question should be do we have confidence in DL?  All of the comments I am reading points to a resounding yes, for a multitude of well articulated reasons (see above).

As a long-time Duck homer, I am fully confident DL can and will continue to get better.  (He is too young and too capable not to.). For the same reasons, I also believe his in-game coaching will continue to improve.

I am confident we will see a 10-2 or 11-1 season next year.  But I will also say that I will continue to root for OBD and their coaches even if they face-plant into a 2-10 season.

  5. Nice article David, thank you.

I respectfully disagree that the Oregon Defense failed this year.  9 and 3 are not really failure numbers.  Colorado’s defense failed.  Stanford and ASU, failed.

I agree that the Duck Defense failed in the last quarter of the last game.  They were completely unable to slow down the Beaver running game.  They failed to slow Georgia’s offense and they failed to throttle the mutts, but they didn’t fail in the other 9 games.

Oregon’s could have (and should have) been better, yes. Failure, not in my book.

Maybe I am just too much of a Duck Homer.

  6. Charles, as one who has been gently reminded to be nice, I certainly am glad to hear we trolls have not beaten you down.

This is YOUR forum, your house and your rules.  If we can’t play nice, we should expect to be sent home!

Your time, effort, and FANATICISM all played a part in you designing and maintaining the OBD Forum with Decorum that so many of us look forward to getting our daily Duck fix.

I thank you again, for letting us play in your playground.

Oh, btw, Mrs. PittDuck thanks you as well, and hopes you don’t let the negativity get you down.

the comments I've seen on this site the last week or so have been disheartening as a Duck.

I get being disappointed in the close losses and yes the coaches and players need to learn from this but my goodness this team went 9-3 not 3-9. The sky is not falling, Dan Lanning doesn't need to fired, and the progrum is not falling apart.

My sentiments exactly 12Duck72, and you said it much more eloquently than I can seem to say it.

    Thank you.
