  1. The Spring "game" will be followed at 4:00 pm on home fields by: baseball vs Penn State softball vs Ohio State
  2. The first 3 quarters was more Redbox Bowl than Super Bowl. Same stadium.
  3. SEC, and the NFL draft... talent is spreading out https://archive.ph/VAwNR
  4. some of the largest high school stadiums in the US by capacity: Allen Eagle Stadium (Allen, TX): 18,000 Buccaneer Stadium (Corpus Christi, TX): 18,000 Grande Communications Stadium (Midland, TX): 18,000 Ratliff Stadium (Odessa, TX): 17,931 San Angelo Stadium (San Angelo, TX): 17,500 Farrington Field (Fort Worth, TX): 18,500 Paul Brown Tiger Stadium (Massillon, OH): 16,600 Alamo Stadium (San Antonio, TX): 15,000+ Often these stadiums are used by more than one high school in the local district, and used for other community events. I believe the largest seating capacity dedicated to high school sports in Oregon is at Spiegelberg Stadium in Medford, though like many Oregon high school stadiums it rarely reaches capacity these days. High school football in Oregon is a much different animal today due to various societal and sports fans shifts.
  5. The data gurus at Oregon should go back through past rosters and look for brother-brother combos. Publicizing that would bring an added interpretation to "Oregon brotherhood" during recruiting. I know there have been other than just the Herberts. Even Nix and Tez recently.
  6. Then keep the Rose Bowl on January 1, but offer its semi-final rotation status to another venue such as Vegas or Fiesta Bowl x 2. If the Rose won't/can't offer itself for a semi-final, then that screws teams in the West who qualify for a semi-final that instead will require fans to travel to Miami, Atlanta, New Orleans, Dallas....
  7. The first Anthony Jones who committed is already nicknamed "Tank." Name the second "Howitzer?"
  8. Note also that the Orange Bowl is getting back-to-back semi-final games. Why? Because the Rose Bowl refuses to move off Jan. 1 as the date of the game. The six bowl games are in a rotation, except for semi-final games. That means, a team from the West will periodically have a semi-final game at the Fiesta Bowl but never at the Rose Bowl. Which means teams from the West will go East for a semi-final most years at Orange, Peach, Sugar, Cotton. That butters the bread for the Rose Bowl organization which prefers the parade and game the same day to draw maximum visitors, and avoid L.A. traffic problems, by being on Jan. 1; but, will cause West Coast fans to have to spend more bread to travel to other non-West venues. Perhaps the fairest "solution" would be to grant the Fiesta Bowl all semi-finals that would otherwise go to the Rose Bowl? It seems unfair for the Orange Bowl, Peach Bowl ...to receive more semi-finals at the expense of West Coast fans? Or, add Las Vegas automatically to replace the Rose Bowl in years when the Rose Bowl would have been the semi-final recipient? Those years would be known in advance and Las Vegas could plan around those years in terms of their other convention obligations.
  9. "Out coached, out schemed, out played." My observation is that it sometimes appears Oregon's staff watches too much video of opponent's prior games and assumes that is what they are going to see. Opponents make adjustments. It was particularly true in the Rose Bowl, and Oregon hadn't prepared adequately for the possibility. In high stakes games you can't wait until the second half to make adjustments, it will probably be too late.
  10. "OBD would have been lucky to get to 16 wins at full strength imo." I tend to agree. Injuries are no doubt a factor, belonging to a stronger basketball conference regardless of travel is also a factor. But, the 5-year trend is not good. 2024-25: 25-10, 1 NCAA tourn win 2023-24: 24-12, 1 NCAA tourn win 2022-23: 22-15, 2 NIT wins 2021-22: 20-15, 1 NIT win It appears the staff is stale in terms of both recruiting in today's environment and coaching. I don't doubt Dana's heart. Or, his career record. But, he may be too old to initiate the program changes that need to be made? I love what he has done for Oregon, and would hate to see him go out on a season like this, really hate it, but... I loved coach Mike Montgomery too. He knew when to retire. Dana's time may be coming.
  11. The problem in that game was not Dyer or Sham Cam. Auburn: 265 pass, 254 rush Oregon: 374 pass, 75 rush The problem was defenders Nick Fairley and Mike Mcneil. LaMike and Barner combined for 81 yds rushing. The Auburn D-coordinator was Ted Roof. He has had 10 different jobs in 15 seasons since. Yes, 10. Auburn finished 14-0 and this list is their 3-point wins: Mississippi State Clemson - FG in OT Kentucky - FG at the gun Oregon - FG at the gun Auburn also beat Alabama by 1 point, 28-27. Auburn trailed 0-21 before it even picked up a first down, and Alabama had a 314-2 lead in total yards before the second half comeback. As an undefeated team in the 2010 season, their close wins rival Indiana in 2025. I know, I know. Luck is when preparation meets opportunity. But sometimes it is simply luck.
  12. Indiana 20-15 at Iowa - winning TD with 1:28 left 27-24 at Penn St - winning TD with 0:36 left 13-10 vs Ohio St in B1G Championship played 53 miles from campus There is an old saying about luck resulting from preparation meeting opportunity. Hoosiers were certainly prepared when they visited Autzen. Less sure about ALL the other games, but they gave themselves opportunities with a very mature roster in terms of age and experience. Hoosiers 2026 schedule looks like 1-2 losses at most? Who you play, where, has always been a factor. IF Ducks had proceeded to go Miami, Atlanta, Miami in a CFP run I'm doubtful that would have been duplicated in terms of travel during the CFP anytime soon. Preparation requires overcoming adversity. Indiana was also "lucky" on the injury front. That is rare too. Sometimes it is just unexplainable destiny.
  13. Oregon: “current metrics emphasize traditional revenue streams over the coolness factor alone” Revenue streams: note stadium capacity in the list The column ranking, the school, stadium capacity rank 1-Texas - 8 2-A&M - 4 3-Ohio St - 3 4-LSU - 5 5-Georgia - 9 6-Michigan - 1 7-Notre Dame -16 8-Penn St - 2 9-Alabama - 7 10-Nebraska - 13 11-Oklahoma - 14 12-fuskies - 23 13-Tennessee - 6 14-Auburn - 12 15-Iowa - 24 16-USC - 19 17-Florida - 11 18-Wisconsin - 21 19-Oregon - 47 20-Colorado - 58
  14. Oregon has never won less than 20 games in Altman's tenure. Before tonight: 8-12 this season. In 2008-09 Ernie's team was 8-23 and 2-16 in the Pac12 with several blow out losses. 1991-92 Monson's last team was 6-21. Worst in the 20-game era was 4-21 in 1956-57. Feel badly for Oregon native Bittle: 2021-22 – 20 games – 20-15, 1-1 in NIT 2022-23 – 28 games - 21-15, 2-3 in NIT 2023-24 – 5 games – injured – 24-12, 1-1 in NCAA Tourney 2024-25 – 35 games – 25-10, 1-1 in NCAA Tourney 2025-26 – 15 games – 8-12 He has played in 2 NCAA Tourney games in his career. Only one season playing every game.
  15. Being upset about the schedule is weakness in my opinion. Looking for "equity" is weakness in my opinion. Ohio State already gets favorable status on kickoff times and avoidance of Fridays. When Oregon can draw the TV eyeballs that Ohio State does every week, then perhaps I'll feel differently. I do think it is unfortunate that UO and UW weren't granted incentives on their share of media revenue until 2030 if they hit some pre-established benchmarks that brought more $$$ to the conference. If the initial "half-shares of media" were truly based on media value they could bring to the B1G, like USC, then being above expectations should be rewarded.
  16. Wilner: there are just three occasions in which a West Coast team with normal rest faces an opponent that has an extra week to prepare. And two of those are home games: UCLA hosts Wisconsin and USC hosts Ohio State. The unseemly road assignment falls to the Ducks, who host Nebraska, then visit rested Illinois.
  17. Six B1G programs without back-to-back road games: Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Oregon, Penn St, Purdue Win some, lose some, when it comes to scheduling these days.
  18. It's the result of the college football schedule and only one bye this season. Duke plays 8 straight ACC opponents after a bye. Georgia Tech plays 7 then Georgia for No. 8 - gulp. In the Big12, Kansas plays 9 after its bye: Middle Tenn, then 8 straight Big12 opponents. That's just a couple examples. It's happening in more than just the Big Ten.
  19. Ah, remember last year when Deion Sanders proposed that spring practices allow a "controlled scrimmage" with an opponent. Syracuse's Fran Brown said he would be up for it. Then the NCAA awoke from slumber and said no-can-do. Aside from all the logistics of coordinated dates for spring practices, paying for a team to travel, etc., that would fuel the juices of fans a bit. I wonder, in the never ending search for $$$ from attendance, TV, if that rule may be revisited at some point? On the other hand, seems like spring game formats are becoming unpopular with head coaches who just have a final "practice" instead of inviting fans to a scrimmage. And, seems a distant memory now, but prior to the 2020 COVID season, the Big Ten at one time proposed playing the 2020 season in Spring of 2021. Really. Ultimately the B1G played conference games only starting October 24. The Pac12 ultimately decided to play some football starting November 7 with a shortened number of conference opponents.
  20. This season Northwestern plays 11 after a bye. Oregon and UCLA both have the same bye date and play 8 games after the bye. Though, one of UCLA's 8 is a home game vs Nevada. Oregon and UCLA will have 5 at home, and 3 on the road. It could have been 7 if the B1G had scheduled UO and UCLA to play a week earlier while moving the bye date a week later. But, apparently was trying to avoid UCLA having back-to-back road games. Teams with back-to-back road games that involve flying over time zones, but all have a bye in between like UCLA: UCLA: Maryland, bye, Oregon Iowa: Washington, bye, Minnesota Michigan St: UCLA, bye, Michigan Ohio St: Indiana, bye, USC USC: Penn St, bye, Wisconsin Washington: Purdue, bye, Nebraska Teams with back-to-back road games and without a bye, but without flying more than one time zones: Indiana: Rutgers, Nebraska Maryland: Nebraska, Ohio State Nebraska: Illinois, Rutgers Northwestern: Ohio St, Minnesota Rutgers: Maryland, Northwestern Wisconsin: Maryland, Purdue Six programs without back-to-back road games: Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Oregon, Penn St, Purdue
  21. UCLA has a non-conference game with Nevada on Oct. 31. A quick search said that was the latest non-conf non-bowl for UCLA since the first Sat. in November in 1968 when they played Tennessee. Then, I remembered, UCLA played Fresno State the last game of the regular season in 2024. Like Oregon, UCLA will have 8 consecutive games after the bye, though one will be non-conf. Nevada. Northwestern has a bye the second week, then plays 11 straight. Oklahoma 8 straight after their bye. Syracuse and N. Carolina have 9, and a couple other ACC's have 8 after the bye. There are 3 nine's in the Big 12: BYU, ASU, Kansas. So, the single bye week this season means more teams will have a long stretch without a bye.
  22. Interesting that Oregon and UCLA both have a bye the week prior, so why not schedule the game Oct. 3 instead of Oct. 10? And, put the bye on Oct. 10. Appears it may be to avoid requiring UCLA to play back-to-back road games. UCLA plays at Maryland Sept. 26. Northwestern, with Chip Kelly as O-coord, visits Autzen on Oct. 31.
  23. 09/26 – @ USC (Trojans at Rutgers week prior) 10/3 – bye 10/10 – UCLA (Bruins also have bye prior) 10/17 – Nebraska (Huskers host Indiana week prior) 10/24 – @ Illinois (Illini have bye week prior) 10/31 – Northwestern (Wildcats host Rutgers week prior) 11/7 – @ Ohio St (tOSU at USC week before) 11/14 – Michigan (UM at MSU week before) 11/21 – @ Michigan St (Spartans host Huskies week prior) 11/28 - Washington (UW hosts Indiana week before)
  24. "targeted 2029 for completion of the entire project" 2026-28 to complete a project already underway, that (36months +) seems like an awfully long construction window for completion?
